I myself don't believe in god.

I feel that it was invented to rule and explain what people did'nt understand.

What do I believe in then? Science.

Anyway, I don't mean to be offending or rude or anything like that. I just want to know why? Why do you belive in religion? For example, christianity's creation myth (that is what my english teacher calles them even thought she is christain herself) states that God said a single word and humans appear. What about evolution?

Some of the stories in the Bible are very similar to ancient Bibilonian epics.

Hinduisms caste system Treats the Dalits like dirt.

Can someone please explain this then?

You want a really crazy thing? Calvinist predestination.

You forgot a poll. You need one in all threads here.

No offense but this forum is more so about knowledge, but I guess if you slightly bend the rules this could fit [since it is giving you knowledge into others opinions], but I am going to be making a General Discussion subforum and that will be for any kind of debating and extended discussion or just random discussion on a subject, until then this can stay here.

I am an athiest, everyone believes in Science how do you not? ^^ I dont believe in God because I have no reason to and I have no right to, until I have a peace of mind that god exists I refuse to play a ruse like I know god. I dont believe in evolution, micro-evolution, its a load of crap. :] worst than religion because it offers a theory that can be disproven.

I am not one to believe in a god, for there are so many questions I have towards our world, and outside of it. Therefore, I cannot really have a god-figure in my life.

My family is Buddhist though. (^^')

Similar to me, I dont have the evidence or the reason to believe a god exists and so I do not believe a god exists.

Well it's all a battle to see which theory is stronger.
Even though science says that they have the cold hard facts, it all remains a theory. It's always being updated and nobody can prove without a doubt that what they say is correct.
Religion to me is not at all credible but just like science, nobody can undoubtebly prove that it is right or wrong.

But I like to believe in science... it's neat

I happen to be very religious but I also believe in the theory of evolution. I find it odd how people claim science/religion is wrong while science/religion is right, there never seems to be a balance?

Anyways I'd like to think that there's a divine power watching over us constantly. I know it's not a good thing to be ignorant but in some cases, ignorance really is bliss.

But the very positions of science and religion is fundamentally different.

Religion is based on inflexible dogma. Science is based on critical thinking, logic and facts.

Of course, I never said that they were the same thing. They are VERY different but they both share that element that makes none of them proven beyond all reasonnable doubt.

Even lately the laws of gravity and dark matter have been reevaluated.

I belive in ..............both.

First off I'm not Christian, I'm an eclectic Pagan (a pagan with no specified path, though I do research many), so being so, I am free be philisophical about this and fit science and religion together.

It is time to END this thread. Slightly.

Four words: Religion does not exist.

Why?

Simply, the idea of a god or several gods is impossible. So many different religions have been made, and past ones have been said wrong. It's impossible for a religion to be true. Religion was made for power, money, and greed. Some people came along and revived its meaning: To find something to keep faith in to keep people striving and hoping. But repentance has been abused, huh?

hmm... first off, i think your just about the only athiests i have ever "met" that wasnt a hard core evolutionist. how do you think we got here?

also... dont confuse religion and faith. i personally believe in jesus christ... but, i dont like religion. so, i picked science. for example, many religions once thought that the earth was flat... but, its not. so, science wins.

the way i see it, God is responsible for designing the mechanisms science is able to explain. so, in my thinking, science points you to god. thats just me though.

I chose science, but honestly I don't think they contradict at all. I do believe in God because I believe all of the circumstances that Earth satisfies for life, the diversity of life, etc. are far too improbable to happen solely by chance. (I do not follow an organized religion, I have my own faith.)

The way I see it science and religion are just two ways to explain how things happen in our world. Religion tells us that a supreme being (whether that be in a material form, energy form, multiple forms, or all of the above) uses its powers to start the processes we expereince every day. Science simply tells us how that power works in terms that we can understand better.

Religion. Religion makes people happier than science. I mean, seriously! I think the Bible is far more interesting than a science textbook. Do I believe in religion? Hell no! Do I believe in science? Yes. But science is what's real and religion is .. well what's not and Theists can live in their little fairytale world and be jolly little souls if they want.

I'm Atheist by the way. Ironic, no? I don't care much for religion, nor do I care much for science. I'm more of an undecided person, but I find it highly improbable a God exists. But if you want to believe in "Him", sure, be my guest.

I'm an atheistic pagan. ^^ Actually, that's a term I made up; I'm not sure if it actually applies. Basically, I worship nature as the ultimate state of being because it's self-sustainible and renewable without any outside influence (none of that silly fluffy Earth-mother stuff). I also don't believe in any form of an afterlife. You die, you rot in the ground, your body becomes part of nature again. Nope, no such thing as a soul or any of that. I believe in science and logic as explanations for everything. Yup, I'm just weird.
