Personally, I've recently noticed that I tend to listen to music in languages I barely understand. It isn't so much the fact that I don't speak most of the languages in the music in my posetion. It is the diversity of it that might be of interest. While most gaians are busy listening to MTV and VH1 favorites, I and my kind are discovering Kurdish Halay music, Mali Blues, or French Rap. My playlists are decorated with artist names such as Siwan Perver (Kurdish from Turky), Cheb Mami (Arabic and French from Algeria), Tinariwen (Amazigh from Mali), Erci-E (Turkish and German from Turkey and Germany), Free Baby (Arabic from Egypt) who are also my little nephew's favorite also (JUST ADORABLE! xd )... ect. Here are some of my favorite Youtube samples of Music in languages I don't understand... Luckily, some tracks are multi-lingual. For example, Cheb Mami sings in Algerian Arabic and French. He had tracks with Amazigh speaking Cheb Idir, Arabic speaking Samirah Sa'eed and French speaking K Mel. Tinariwen (Amazigh) - "Amassakoul 'N' Tenere" & "Chet Boghassa" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXyZZ1DaG0IErci-E (Turkish) - "Sessini Kesme" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YreZSWvmUd0Cheb Mami (Algerian Arabic & French) - "Au pays des merveilles" AKA "Azwaw" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVjDXwVJal8NOTE: This is not a music video, but a tribute to Dilnoza (Farsi-Tajik) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VFvDyspgu8K'naan (English & Somali) - "Soobax" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRqGIwkZ-EwYouTube is a foreign music goldmine!!!

It depends on my mood. I listen to music most of the time, and sometimes I want to understand every word while on other occasions I want to listen to a voice I don't understand at all. I regularly listen to music in languages I don't speak more than a few words of. I love music in different languages, but if I love a song, I will look for some lyrics to sing along and some translation ... and then I fall in love with the language. And want to learn it. But ... I think I should concentrate on the ones I'm already learning, ne?
I listen to rock, punk and metal mostly. - Finally found some Korean punk and metal bands. I'm happy.
Norway: Kaizers Orchestra, Gåte Sweden: Kent, Thåström Finland: Värttinä, Catamenia France: Guerilla Poubelle Spain: Héroes del Silencio, Mägo de Oz China: Ping Pung, Nicholas Tse (Cantopop <3) Korea: DEVA, The Seed, Silent Eye, Dong Bang Shin Ki (Boy band xd )
I love too many German and Japanese bands to specify them. Those were just the ones I remembered from the top of my head and of which I know they don't usually sing in English.

They are awesome! Oh, there's only one thing that's better than punk rock sung in French - and it is punk rock sung in Korean. Hilarious.
I like Les Beruriers Noirs, too. Have to check out the others.
Don't be ashamed, Monostatos. Be curious!
@Kiaori Moon Warrior I learnt English by singing along to music. And by reading yaoi fanfiction.

Usually I only like listening to languages that I'm familiar with. I've heard Japanese rock... >_< not really my taste. I'd much rather listen to Till Lindemann's octaves-lower-than-mine voice, or Ome Henk rasp about in that Dutch Barbie Girl spoof. And then there's the awesomeness of Santana.
Other than that, though, I realize there are a lot more English bands on my list than there are foreign language bands. Especially older ones, like Black Sabbath, Queen, etc...

My favourite song right now is in several different languages! It's a multi-lingual reel of "Be A Man" from Mulan. It's got English, Germen, Finnish, French, Japanese, Portugese, Mandarin, and a few others and the transition between the languages is perfect.
I would love to learn any language by music if I could.

Let's see... Most of the songs that I listen to are in English (which isn't my first language, but I speak enough English for it to not really be "foreign").
I listen to French songs too, and I understand most of it. At the very last week of last term, I brought speakers to school because we were having farewell parties, and many of my classmates were annoyed when I put on songs by Ilona Mitrecey (By the way, how do you pronounce "Mitrecey"? Is it two syllables like "Mitre-cey" or three syllables like "Mit-re-cey"?), because the catchy techno music would've been fun to sing along with, but most of them don't speak French at all.
Speaking of Ilona Mitrecey, her song "My Saxophone" includes other languages too, but it doesn't sound right. gonk There are lines like "my coeur music" that mix languages.
I also listen to German and Japanese songs that I don't understand. There are also some Cantonese songs, mainly theme songs from TV programmes that I liked. (Nothing new though.)

Eccentric Iconoclast I have become addicted to several foreign songs: the most recent being Kuolema Tekee Taiteilijan. It's in Finnish, and I LOVE IT. eek heart I love this song! I can sing it word for word (haven't got a clue what it means) but the lyrics for it came with the CD (It's off Nightwish's 'Once' album) I think Kuolema Tekee Taiteilijan means 'Death makes an Artist.' Most of the songs on my MP3 player are not in English. I prefer listening to songs that I can learn the words to, because I sing along, therefore most of my foreign songs are in Indonesian and Japanese, because they're my strongest languages. My favourite singers/bands from both are: Indonesian: Peterpan, Rossa, Linda Nanuwil, Project Pop Japanese: Yuna Ito, Momusu, Merychoco Finnish: Nightwish Chinese: Na Ying I also love listening to the Indian news, because their songs are so beautiful, and the Mandarin songs are goregeous too. I love Yuna Ito and Rossa (they are so talented) and Momusu is so fun to sing along with. Peterpan is a good sing-along band, and also just to chill to. However, I do listen to English singers/bands, because they balance out the mix nicely!

Like commercial pop? Or Pop rock? For the second choice, i'd say , try Anais, Deportivo, kyo or Superbus[i don't like those so much... but some do] , Mylene Farmer , Telephone. Give a try to Louise Attaque too, maybe you'll like [it's awesome ;D ]

A Swedish band called Änglagård is one of my favourite bands. I don't really understand their lyrics and never bothered learning anything in Swedish, but they're just really good. One day. ^^
I listen to more music in English than anything else. There's just more variety than in Hebrew music, and I understand their lyrics better. I would like to get to know some good music in Arabic. My boyfriend claims there's really amazing Middle-Eastern music, but I've never looked into it.
