Mbali reached the lands of his birth, he scanned the area hoping to see or pick up the scent of his mother. He could not believe the words he had been told.

The adolescent pridelander moved slowly in hope of finding some part of his family. He needed to know... his mother knew of no sisters so who was lieing? What was untrue?

He moved slightly quicker now, where was everyone? He had such a large family but yet he could not find one of them, this was silly.

The truth was Mchele didn't want to be found. He had to get away from everyone after he'd helped his father with cubs. He was still coming to terms with his mother's death, and being so adoring of her this was proving very hard. Just being around his family brought forth memories of her and he couldn't bare it right now.

Currently he was laying in the shade of some rocks, near the edge of the Pridelands. He'd stopped crying for now and was merely moping while trying to get some rest.

Mbali nearly walked straight past his older brother but saw him in the corner of his eye. He turned to look at him and tilted his head slightly, "Mchele?" Yeah, it was his brother.

He walked closer to his brother and saw his face so wet, no, he couldn't have been crying. "Mchele... mother... is she.. really..." He couldn't say the word, how could he believe that other female, she couldn't have killed his mother.

At first the older brother didn't appear to hear his younger sibling. Only when he spoke again did his ears flick back and he lifted his head to see who it was.

"M-Mbali?" He asked, uncertainty in his voice along with the sadness. He hadn't seen this brother for a very long time, not since he was a young cub. It took him a moment to recognise him all grown up. But as he did come to recognise him he also realised he hadn't seen him there when their mother died, and the patchy lion's unfinished question only confirmed he hadn't been there to witness the death.

"Y-ye..." Unable to get the words out, Mchele could only nod and turn his face away as a fresh batch of tears started to form.

Mbali snarled.

"I will kill her... That evil creature..." He snarled, maybe that would give it away that he knew the killer. He didn't care now though. He was angry, angry at Churo and he daughter, angry at Bari for being so horrible about him leaving.

He turned from his brother before turning back, "So we have more siblings as well then... eight of them? One now blind?" Churo hadn't forgotten to mention her daughters handywork, after all, she wanted some fun! It had left Mbali angry though and he had extra angry due to the anger he kept at bay living with Bari. Oh how life had gone so wrong.

If his father had mentioned anything about the lioness who'd attacked Bahkti, Mchele hadn't been listening. Grief had made his ears deaf to most things said that day. Although it had been obvious enough that his golden mother had been killed in a fight.

"Wha?" He started, turning sharply to Mbali. "Who? Who will you kill? What do you know?" He almost demanded as he struggled to sit. He was always a kindly lion, always gentle unless he needed to be otherwise, but these were desperate times.

"Yes, one was blinded in the attack." He remembered now. The poor little thing... another victim, although one that had escaped with his life at least. "There's alot of them... yes, eight I think." His mind was still shaking of the fogginess of trying not to think for so long. "They're with father now. So young... They'll never know her...."

"Churo, I think that was her name..." He tried to remember a little, "Yes Churo, she had a daughter, though her name I cannot remember." He sighed a little and looked up at the sky before turning from the sy to the ground ot Mchele again.

"She came to me, knowing who I was, asking questions about mother, she knew everything. She claimed mother was her sister and that she would kill her." He sighed. "I didn't believe her, travelled here but met mother on the way, she said she had no sister so I thought maybe the lioness was playing with me, I went home to Bari, we had two cubs not long ago. She then returned, covered in scars the daughter aswell."

His voice kept breaking but he held it together. "She said how she had killed mother and how I had eight siblings, how one was blind, she spoke of so much but Bari, being herself, opened her mouth, Churo left as I argued with Bari and then left her and the cubs, I had to find my family, Bari cares little for me and the cubs. I had to escape.. I had to know..." He sighed. He had never planned to tell anyone of Bari and his cubs but yet at as he became as emotional as he was he let it all spill out, he couldn't do much else.

Mchele's ears flattened as he listened. "Churo... I've never heard of her. Mother never mentioned her, how can she have been her sister? Mother was a lone rogue, until she met Mahiri and joined this pride."

"And if this lioness threaten to kill mother, why didn't you warn her? Warn us? We could have been there.... If she was her sister or not, even if what Churo spoke were lies, we would still have been prepared for an attack." Mchele couldn't be too harsh, not when his younger brother had also suffered such a loss too. But he couldn't help but think Mbali had known about what was going to happen.... even if he hadn't believed it at the time.

"And now what? You know the truth, Bahkti is dead and it seems this Churo has confessed to it. And what of your own cubs? Have you left them?"

Mbali snarled. "I told mother." His eyes flashed a little. He was still stressed from his argument with Bari, he felt so bad for leaving her like he did, but he had no choice.

"My own family has nothing to do with you. You have no mate. No female to keep you warm or care for you and though I have a mate she is cold and uncaring. She refuses to go near our children. I couldn't stay there. I am going to go back, I wouldn't abandom a female who carried my cubs." He was talking quickly, Mchele hadn't provoked it but there was no way of really telling what was wrong with Mbali. Emotionally beaten up by two different females.

Well that at least was something. Mother had known... "...for what good it did her." Mchele muttered sadly. But she had known and if she had believed the threat she would have come back to the safety that the pride provided. He sighed. "It's not your fault she's gone Mbali..."

However he wasn't so impressed with his brother's comments about his family relations. "Actually I do have cubs myself." He stood up and stepped forward. "And a mate who cares for me." Although that was more Ausha rather than Kiz, but the mother was still a very close friend to him and he did care for her.

"But if she doesn't care for you... why go back? Bring your young here. You do need to go back for them, I agree. They need be raised, if not by their mother then by you. Did Bahkti's care for us not teach you that?"

"I wasn't ever around mother or father I was too busy watching Mbaya for them." He looked sharp but continued to talk.

"I love Bari so no matter what I will be by her side, the cubs need a mother and a father so I will be there for both no matter what." He stared at the ground. "The kusuni lands are safe, less lions but loads and loads of cubs. They are happier there then they would be here. When they grow I shall bring them to where their parents were born, but they are my children and better off where they are." He stopped mumbling and sighed, blinking back the emotions that were overwhelming him.

Mchele didn't argue with the younger male. There was little point causing more pain about what should have been learnt or done, now that there was nothing that could be done to change it.

And he had some idea of the situation Mbali was in, at least from what he had told him. Mchele knew what it was like not to love the other parent of your cubs as much as they deserved. But there were differences - Mchele did care for her and he did love his cubs. It sounded like this Bari did neither.

"I hope things change for you. I hope she'll return your feelings some day. And you know your cubs best. I'm sure you'll do what's best for them." He spoke quietly and sat down. With a sigh he turned his gaze to the grass beneath his paws. "Well now you have what you came for, the comfirmation of our moter's death. Is there anything else? I am still in mourning." He glanced back up at his brother with solemn eyes.

"I am sorry Mchele, I did not mean to have a go." He stood to his full height, stretching as he did so.

"I Shall leave you." He looked to the ground and then at Mchele, this was a hard time for all of them. "Pass father my love, if you see him. Goodbye brother."

He turned, his head hung low, he was returning home.
