I hear of a Ygg tree where herbs of all different colours grow. Anyone know how to get there? are there any enemies before or at the Ygg tree, and if so, are they hard?

Head to Umballa (warp from Comodo which you can reach by kafra from Morroc or Pharos).
Enter the tree in the north of the city.
Make your way to the center of the floor and enter the portal.
Monster to worry about: Wootan Shooter, Wootan Fighter, Stone Shooters
Again make your way to the center of this floor and enter the portal.
Monsters to worry about: Dryad, Driller, Wooden Golem, Wootan Shooter, Wootan Fighter
You are now in the tree. No naturally occuring monsters, just various plants spawn here. Note:
You cannot logout however or you'll be returned to your save point.
You cannot exit back into the previous tree.
If you exit the second portal (first is just seperating the two halves of the map) you will enter Niffleheim (Skelligton, a solitary village map) and cannot return.

is that what that staircase in niff is for? there was always a portal that showed up on my map but it never let me in.

You mean the one in the south east corner of Skellington (field with disguise)? That's where you come in if you walk the tree route. Guessing if this is the one you mean, you always bungee to Niffleheim city.

I usually just tele or fly wing my way out of the first two screens of monsters after Umbala until I reach the ygg tree. They're pretty aggressive and tough. Get a priest to bless, agi, and kyrie you so that it might be a little easier to make it through. ^^

Thanks for the help. I got there no problem (cause I'm a knight with tons of hp) and my brother (a priest) saved that location to his warp portal techique so I can get there whenever I want now.

Um... I don't think you can memo the ygg tree... you can only memo Umbala and get there from there... unless they've changed things...

It made me sad. Its probably a good thing though. They would probably never be any herbs there cause everyone would be warping there. Better if its harder to get to.
