I got a calling at church today! I'm the Assistant Ward Librarian. They apparently take in my shyness factor very well...

What's that?

Something they did in my ward too. They split us all up into four families and gave us 'moms' and 'dads' to get us all better aquainted. It started a rivalry with us in stead and I'm of the oppinion that they diliberately took apart my circle of friends(being just two other families) so we'd be forced out of our shells. Ironically, only online are we social. Oh, it's for single wards.

Oh, okay, that makes sense. I'm in a family ward, because there is no single ward near us. Well, 70 miles away, but I dun want to drive that far and back every Sunday.

Kisa: If 5 year olds weren't hyper and loud, they wouldn't be normal 5 year olds. :p

I think naptime is only for five and unders. Or nursery, if you will.

Last calling I had was Geneology teacher in my college ward. I did terrible at it -_- It was a new thing and the bishop didn't know what I was supposed to do and there was no material for lessons. Which I don't think we were supposed to have every Sunday. I think we were really just supposed to get together during the week at the geneology center. I dunno. I don't think I did well at it, though. I wish I'd gotten something like Librarian or something razz

Uh, I've been a nursery leading twice and there was no nap time involved. Which was rather a shame since our ward meets at noon. You can bet those kids are cranky by the time we get out at three!

Now I teach the 8-11 year olds. (In theory: in practice our Primary is so small and scattered that sometimes I even get six year olds.) I tried a bunch of things at first but what works for me is a system of points represented by stars. They get stars for volunteering to say the prayer, for answering questions and otherwise being good students. They lose stars for being bad students. At the end of the lesson EVERYONE has to have at least five stars. If they do then they get the treat I brought for them. (Usually cookies or some such baked goody.) When I did it so that only people who got five stars got treats the kids got too competitive so I changed it to a group effort.

On fast Sundays they get stickers for each star and at the end of the year the girl with the most stars (my class is all girls) will get her choice of a pretty CTR ring, some scripture study stickers or a picture of Christ. (Which reminds me, I'd best start looking for those things...)

When we were sharing a building while ours was getting a chapel, we started at one. Kids got either really cranky or fell asleep by the time they got out at 4!
