This coming thursday (which I'm super stressed about) my jazz choir is going on a trip to preform at Seattle center. I'm absolutely horrid at scatting (not too great with last minute stuff), but I have a scat solo in the concert. I can't get out of it, because one of the conditions under which the jazz choir is kept going is that the eighth graders scat more (it's a long story) and my choir teacher'd be really mad if I backed out. I keep falling into the same scat, because for some odd reason it's hard for me to scat to the tune, and when I try to come up with something new, it's REALLY bad... Does anyone have any tips? At all? Please?

First thing i work at the EMP and might be able to actually catch your performance.

Anywho well what song is it and what's the melody of the song? Try improvising/scatting to the notes of the melody of the song. That usually helps me if i'm in a rut.

We're singing Yardbird Suit. I can't really describe the melody, seeing as I'm not good with the whole music lingo thing (I've only been in choir for a couple years). It'd be interesting if you came, we'll be on that one stage at the food court. The Varsity choir will be preforming too (which I'm also in....ehehe....) This is really all my fault, I had an easier time scatting to the music to the first scat, but, I wanted to go second *has this fear of doing things first* I'll try scatting to the notes of the melody, see if that helps 3nodding

Think Bebop and harcore Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie. I can give you the song but i dont have alink for it and i dont have a place to host the song.

And what time are you performing?

I'm not sure the exact time sweatdrop our director never told us, I guess he thinks we're a lost cause. I'll have to look into some of the stuffs ya suggested, hopefully before it's too late... (i.e Thrusday >_< ) I do know, however that Varsity(the other choir I'm in) sings at 1:00 pm, and I think we visit EMP at 10:30 am, although, I'm not quite sure how long we're staying, our teachers been pretty vague about this whole trip....

Edit:
I just got informed of times today. We preform (the Jazz choir, that is) at 1:25 PM

Woah, I did that exact same thing last year! What school do you go to?
We also got to go to EMP afterword, which was fun.

So do you need help with the melody or the syllables?
I did a scat solo last year there, but it turned out the mic was off.
That really sucked sweatdrop
