Aislinn tripped a bit over the path, but managed to recover herself quickly enough. She headed over to the bar, noticing another still seated there but unable to bring herself to acknowledge his presence just yet. What if he were another crazy animal-human?

She headed behind the bar first, pouring herself a strange concoction of alcohol obviously designed to get her rather tipsy quick, and smiled in relief as the first sip went down her throat,
"Oh ye Lord I needed that," she muttered.

Liamh was hunched over the dregs of his martini, leaning on the bartop and spinning his glasses over in his hands by one of the frame-arms - it seemed that one of the lenses had cracked. He glanced up as the asian girl with the cane came up and walked behind the bar, and he arched an eyebrow as she started dumping liquors together - and downing it.

"You know, the last time i saw someone do that to themself, they saw dancing purple gerbils for two days straight, and that was AFTER a sobering three pots of coffee."

He scratched his nose with the tip of the glasses-strut thoughtfully. "Then again, maybe that was more due to the coffee than the booze..."

The woman laughed,
"Bad coffee, probably. It's not completely random," she pointed to the mix, "But honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing purple gerbils. I already saw a woman who claims to be turning into a pterodactyl."

She shuddered and took a rather large gulp this time. The fact that she was not drunk enough to not care about this theory of Kim's was...well, more reason to get drunker faster.

She put out the hand that wasn't cradling her drink for him to shake. Well, at least this guy was normal. Maybe she'd been half-delusional about Kim. Maybe it -was- just a costume. She could feel her heart rate slow a bit,
"I'm Aislinn, by the way. I'm a new patient. Here for surgery on this," she pointed to the leg, though she really meant her pelvic bone, but that'd be a little improper to point to.

He chuckled and leaned over the counter to shake her hand. "Pleased to make your acquaintance, Aislinn. I'm Liamh, Liamh Doradan." he leaned back again. "And bad coffee aside, the pterodactyl woman was probably right."

He pushed his empty glass to the other side of the counter. " - Got any more tequila over there? - See, this whole island, as you've probably been told, is a testing ground for genetic experiments... They're always luring fresh subjects in.. you said, surgery, right?"

He squinted over the counter at her leg, then put his abused glasses back on. "I dunno if they'll make good on that, but i hope so. Seems like you should get something out of this nightmare..."

"Wow, pterodactyl, though... that's kind of startling. I might have seen her from a distance, but... didn't know what the heck she was." He smiled apologetically.

Aislinn sighed,
"I'm not sure what I believe right now. You seem normal enough, at least. You're sure it's not just Halloween costumes or a prank or something?"

She was still sort of hoping, though with this added confirmation, she...needed another drink. She finished up the one she'd poured and went for the tequila he'd mentioned,
"Yeah, here's a bit. Hate the stuff myself, though," she grabbed a bottle of midori and set about that instead.

He gratefully accepted the bottle of tequila from her, smirking as he opened it and poured himself a bit in his marguerita glass straight. It was a good afternoon for drinking, and with a couple in him already he was less inclined to care.

"Nope. I'm still clinging to humanity here, dangit, but it's no joke. Not unless this is one REALLY elaborate prank... i've seen some pretty freaky mutations, though i haven't gotten up the guts.. nerves... balls... whatever choice anatomical pieces necessary to get up close and personal with some of the more far-gone ones. Guess i still keep thinking that if i ignore it and keep looking for some way off of this rock, it won't be real. Not really real, i mean." he tipped back some of the tequila and coughed slightly as it scalded his throat. There went his attempt to look tough for the day, he thought dryly, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand.

"If you need proof, there's a whole islandful i could show you..." he took another sip. "Yeah, now that's a tour for the whole family... mutant beast extravaganza."

Aislinn shook her head, starting to feel a little blurry already herself. Afterall, she wasn't a very large girl and the alcohol in her first drink had been pretty strong.

"Ahhh, can't believe they'd to that to people," she whispered, "'mean, I still got two years left 'till I get my doctor of vet. medicine. Never going to do it when 'm this far away from Cali."

She didn't even want to start on the idea of turning into some prehistoric dinosaur,
"'s a friggin Jurassic Park 'ere."

"You're gonna be a vet, huh?" He drained his glass - it had, admittedly, been a fairly small amount of tequila, but he was feeling all warm inside right now, which seemed to make the whole situation a little better. Almost humorous, even...

"Heh. Well i guess you're in the right place. We may all need a veter'narian soon. 'M sorry this had to happen to a nice girl like you." He reached over for the tequila bottle and poured himself another round. "Well, I'll promise, if i bust out with fangs and claws and hair out of my ears, I won't eatcha."

"And who knows, maybe next week we'll be rescued, and we kin toast this whooole nightmare goodbye in California." He gestured with both arms wide, threatening to slosh his drink, then set it down again with a chuckle. "I've always liked California. Sunny. Even in the winter. Shame i could never stay long."

The woman giggled, reaching over to pat his pale arm gently,
"Ahhh, s'okay. Happened ta a lot of people, prolly some other nice ones here too..."

She finished off the midori sour and poured herself something else a bit stronger, leaning in close,
"Well, mebbe when we get outta here, you can come with me to my place in Cali. 's a real nice one. Hope you like bright colours."

She collapsed into a chair in a fit of giggles.

Grinning, Liamh ran a hand through his hair and blushed as she leaned toward him. Or perhaps it was just the flush of the drink. Either way, his face felt warm and his head felt light. Bad signs for him, he knew, but he hadn't had THAT much... he figured.

"Bright colors, huh? Bright s'good," he picked up his drink again, wondering if he should really finish this one. It was already poured, though, and it'd be a shame to waste it. He tipped back a swallow. "You know, long as i don't have a hangover or something," he laughed, trying not to spill it. "Then it's like, hogawd, bow before the porcelain throne..."

He leaned over and tried to process if she was really doing all right as she dissolved into giggles. "Hey, speakin' of which, you don't, you know -snrk- think you should slow down or anything?" He tipped back his glass again without thinking about it.. or much else.

Aislinn grinned,
"We're all turning into -dinosaurs- dude!" she shook her head, "Might as well get a little enjoyment 'fore the bad news sinks in again and makes us miserable!"

She took his arm, petting his hand lightly,
"You know, you're pretty cute! Did ya go to college? Smart kid?"
PostPosted: Thu Oct 26, 2006 3:32 am

"Dinosaurs... heh. Don't think it's ALL dinosaurs," he blinked over at her. His vision had gotten that tell-tale lag between focusing. "I've seen some other kinds a' creatures... people... people-creatures.." he fumbled on the counter for his cracked glasses, trying to put them on his nose without stabbing himself in the eye. "Regular ones, i mean. Though i think my downstairs neighbor might be somethin' extinct, i ferget what it's called..."

He gave a shrug, and smiled winningly at her. He took another sip of his drink, then almost choked on his tequila as Aislinn ran her hand over his own. "Huh, ah, me?" he tipped his head, glancing at the counter and then back up again with a sheepish grin. "Yeah, I... uh. I went t' college. Studied, y'know, computers and programmin' and stuff. I did okay...." he leaned a little closer, pushing his glasses back up his nose as they started to slide off wonkily.

"Grades were better than highschool, but... still think i shoulda tried harder, y'know?" He smiled lopsidedly, drinking again. His marguerita glass was getting emptier again. "Er, what 'bout you? Vet school? That's gotta be hard. Dang." he tilted his head and laughed a bit. "Y'prob'ly have to work harder 'n one day than i'd have to inna week... "

He reached out and patted her on the shoulder. "It's a shame.. not goin' home. It's... it's a damn shame, really. To the dinosaurs!" he raised the little bit that was left in his glass. "They're extinct, we're extinct, or might as well be."

She giggled, sipping her drink once more. The world was starting to swim a little bit, and she was happier than she could remember being in a long time. And this sweet boy was asking about her vet school.

"Ahh...yeah...lots of work. Work with the zoo too sometimes. Not much since the accident, though." Her look was solemn, though she then broke into a fit of giggles
"'magine getting smooshed by a horse! What a silly girl I am!"

She took his hand in her own, leaning forward to give him a kiss on the cheek,
"Aw, you're awful sweet."

She held up the nearly-empty glass and clinked it against his,
"To Dinosaurs!" she broke out in giggles again, leaning back in her chair so that she nearly fell backwards in it.
"Whoops!"
PostPosted: Sat Oct 28, 2006 3:14 am

"Smooshed by a horse! That sucks," he scratched his chin. "I've never been smooshed. I think i'd have to pass on that experience..." He tipped back the glass again, taking a swallow. "Ugh. Bet that hurt like... uhh..." he tried to focus on what he was saying. "Like being smooshed. By a horse."

He stopped short as she leaned over and kissed him. "Heh! Uh, yeah! You know me.." he flushed a bit more, grinning broadly. "I get that all the time, really! Hehehh.." Was it a bit warm out here, or was it just him? He tugged at the collar of his shirt, leaning forward a bit more. Her hand was still on his own, fancy that... he grinned some more.

Toasting with a dull clank of glass, he raised his drink. "Yeah, to the dinosaurs. All of 'em." He took a deep swig of his drink, nearly draining it. "Ohoh, whoops!" he couldn't quite bite back the laugh as she nearly tipped over. "Ahaha, careful! Hehehhh!"

He put a his other hand on her arm to steady her. "Oof, I think i've had a bit much.." He continued to grin, looking a bit roguish and sheepish at the same time.

Aislinn laughed,
"Oh yeah, it hurt like mad. Surgeries hurt too. ....I don't think I've had enough," she teased, finishing the drink and looking at the bar,
"Though I don't know if I can walk steadily enough or pour steadily enough to have another."

She scooted her chair clumsily closer to his, snuggling up against him,
"Aw, you're nice. D'you wanna come home with me?" she rested her head on his shoulder. All thoughts of dinosaurs had left her mind with the aid of the alcohol, and she somehow thought that Liamh hadn't hurt the process.
