Okay, so I think that when Asuma was talking to Shikamaru about why the Akatsuki dudes killed him he was trying to say that they killed him because he knew the identity of the Akatsuki leader.
So, that means that he must have met him before, so that pretty much limits it ti all missing nin in Kohona except Orochimaru and Sasuke because everybody knows that they wouldn't have anything to do with Akatsuki...
So, from all of the theorys taht I've heard about missing Kohona nin being th eAkatsuki leader, that limits it down to that Uchiha Madulo (or whatever it is) -- the first one with the Mangekyo Sharingan. AND the Yondaime Hokage...
So, this kinda pretty much proves that it's one of those two who could be the Akatsuki leader!
I'm pretty sure that they wouldn't introduce a new character for a role as important as that, and knowing Kishi, it'll problably be a big plot twist, seeing as it seems that that's what he;s leading us up to.
Unfortunately -- All of the logic points to that Uchiha dude, but seeing as we've seen the Akatsuki leader's profile and eyes -- the apperance points to it being Yondaime unless they look really similar...
So -- what do you all think? This is really confusing my brain... a lot.
Edit:
After reading the chapter a second time, not in hysterics, I noticed that Asuka told Shikamaru who the "King" was... Sooo... now Shika knows... Damnit, why won't they just tell us?!

There is no evidence that Yondaime is dead. They MAY have just said that for he may have left Konoha. Its never been proven.
As for Madara Uchiha, thats a definate maybe. Maybe though. The eyes are a scanslation error. Kishimoto said so. But yes, GAH! Asuma!!! SHIKAMARU!! But I feel bad for Ino...Knowing her, not being have to save him, might push her over the edge.

i personally think that the leader of akatsuki is most likely madara given the information that is out
plus along the lines of yondaime topic. i think he is dead. to due the fact that during the extraction of the buji, the leader of akatsuki needed orochimaru around to speed up the extraction process. and i think oro would have most definitely notice that it was the former hokage, and with that why would he summon his casket during the fight with the 3rd. plus the leader has ginger hair, nuf said

Their hair color changes every book!
One day, it's blue, the next it's blonde!
Lot's of manga-ka change the hair color of their characters in pictures like that.
And also, Uchiha's only have black or evry dark brown hair...
So, if you're saying that the Akatsuki leader has ginger hair, you're saying that the two most likely people to be the Akatsuki leader aren't.
Truthfuly, I don't think that any of the Akatsuki know of the leader's identity. If they did, they would've problably rubbed it into some Kohona nin's face and he would have reported it to the current Hokage.
Duh.
And Orochimaru never opened the casket in his fight with Sarutobi!
So, if nobody knows the leader's identity and the casket was never opened, that means that it's really a very good chance that it could be Yondaime.
MADARA!

Edit: Not all the Uchiha's have had dark hair, they have showed one other with Lighter hair. Plus its all about who they marry, depending on how long Madara has been dead, he may have hard dark hair or light hair, depending what Kishi-san wants to do. But it was already confimed that the Uchiha eyes look was a scanslation mix up. Or was it? Dun Dun Dun!!

Wow. You guys really dish it out in here! I haven't really read any of the manga that hasn't been released yet, but I know a little about the series. This whole Asuma dying thing is making me crazy. I'm gonna miss the man! And personally, I haven't seen any official art of 'Sir Leader'. I barely know a thing about the guy, but then again, who does? At this point, he could be just about anyone(well, not really). Maybe, Kishimoto is just trying to lead us on into thinking he is someone important or something and when the guy finally steps out of the shadows we go, 'Well that's pretty lame.' Or maybe he will never tell us. Keep us thinking, you know? You never know.

Sadly...there is information that supports both leader possibilities...personally I hope it's Madara cause Yondaime is my favorite character and he's nopt supposed to be the evil leader of a terrorist organization, but you can never tell with Kishimoto....
I do hope Yondaime comes in somewhere though...
on the lines of Madara....it could be him...you never know....
there's only one thing I don't hope for...that it's just some random person...I WOULD HATE THAT!!!! It better be somebody we've heard of...I mean why would Kishimoto mention Madara if he wasn't go to be in there somewhere?

You and me both, Gabriel. I would definatly freak if it turned out that the leader of the Akatsuki was just some dude. And thanks for the information about where I can find the Naruto stuff. It's amazing how much that website has.

There's absolutly no evidence that Yondaime is dead. the jutsu is a one time thing once u do it u die (watch the naruto episode where orochimaru and the 3rd hokage fight) the first episode says that in the process of sealing the nine tailed fox he died and ppl in the village even say he died
