Got a creature idea but are already questing or are already a guardian? Lay 'em on me, baby.
Could help some people who want to quest but have no idea what to choose ^_~
Please list a link to info on the species you suggest ^^

A hydra or a sphinx.
The hydra reborn might have extra limbs or be able to regenerate better. This would be a bonus for the child but it could also cause difficulty in raising as the child might think they're immortal. -shrug- I had fun mulling that one over.
A sphinx could be a rather tricky child with a liking for quiz shows and odd factual tidbits. A child like this would love joke books, riddles, and of course Jeopardy! :3

A maenad is another great one.
Maenads are supposed to be the worshippers of Dionysus-the god of wine, mystery, drunkness and whatnot- In some stories and whatnot they are very wild and whatnot because they're supposed to always be raving drunks. And they're very blood thirsty.
Myself I prefer the maenads in Piers Anthony's Xanth series. They are pretty much beautiful nude women who have sharp claws and teeth and will tear you up and eat you and they drink from a wine spring so they're always wild and drunk.
This would come out in a child by them being very wild and a bit violent(a downside) but very pretty and strong(used to attract then kill prey in their previous life and now used on animals instead of humans) It would make for a very vicious child but also for a very interesting time for a parent.

Finally able to find something that could work. A jinn.

pre-Islamic era looks more interesting to me, and more flexible, but eh.

I dunno if this counts because it's from a book, not a legend- but then we had Gelflings, so why not? Either way, if there are any Wheel of Time fans here, a Myrddraal would be awesome. http://wot.wikia.com/wiki/fade

Books are fun, as such any DARK faerie tale novel is filled with new never before thought of people. For instance, Door and her family from Never where by Neil Gaiman would make for an interesting GoTP.
So I recommend looking at your local library in the teen and adult fantasy sections.

I have a few ideas that I was thinking of trying to do before I decided on Lammasu: I hope someone can do some of these justice.
