Yaku whistled softly to himself as he strolled the streets of Cephei. He had stayed away for a while, giving Covet some time to cool off. He knew he had her. She had only pushed him away because of her red friend. All she needed was a little more persuasion. Stepping up to the ornate black door of her home, he lifted his hat to smooth his black and red hair, then set it back on his head, the brim dipping low over his forehead. Ringing the bell, he stepped back and slipped his hands into his pockets.

Mecca had been working in the shop when the doorbell rang. At the sound of the doorbell ringing and Scimitar's barking Mecca rolled his eyes and made his way up the stairs.
"Scim, down." He said as the dog started to growl at the door. Pulling it open he frowned as he came face to face with Yaku. "What do you want?" He asked with a glare.

Yaku blinked in mild surprise when Mecca answered the door instead, though he knew he shouldn't be as it was actually his house. Slouching back slightly, a cold smirk slipped across his lips and he tilted his head back a little so he could see Mecca in his entirity from under the brim of his hat.
"I would like to speak with Covet," he replied smoothly.

"She's not in." Mecca said shortly waving Scimitar back. "And if she was she would not want to see you." He said shortly staring into Yaku with his cold eyes. "I suggest you leave now."
he did not want that shu anywhere near his house. He was too much trouble.

Yaku arched a brow at Mecca's curt replies and smirked more at his suggestion. "Ah... now see... is that her opinion, or yours? Because if my memory serves me correctly, she didn't exactly seem too anxious to be rid of me the last time she and I crossed paths," he smirked and flexed his wings slightly.

"It is our opinion so I really suggest you get off my doorstep." He said folding his arms and looking past Yaku's shoulder in an irritated manner. "What happened last time was a mistake, and I would really appreciate it if you would leave us both alone."

"So says her keeper," he smirked and glanced down at the growling baby grim. Tilting his head back again, he leveled his silvery white eyes on Mecca's and his lips curled into a bit of a sneer.
"It's only a matter of time you know... before she slips again," he said, pulling his right hand out of his pocket. "I've seen her in Crescent City, with that red-haired shu she used to live with. A shu like you doesn't stand a chance," he smirked and inspected the red streak that ran down the back of his black hand.
"She must have a thing for red," he smirked and looked back up at Mecca.

Mecca continued to glare at him, the rage begining to burn inside of him. He was not Covet's keeper, he had suggested many times that she leave. He smirked a little she wouldn't go crawling back to Matador again. He did not care for her. "I said, leave." He snarled through gritted teeth.

God, it was really almost too easy, Yaku thought with a cold smirk. Turning his hand, he snapped his fingers and a tongue of flame flicked up briefly.
"Why don't you just cut the chase, let her go, and tell me where she is. Consider it a favor. A girl like her is nothing but trouble until she's found someone to satisfy her. I know you've seen the way she treats the men in her little cafe. She's just biding her time until she finds someone to catch her fancy. She did it to me, and I can't say I didn't find it rather... enjoyable," he smirked, thinking back to when she had fairly seduced him and every other male shu in Martiya.

He was right, Mecca knew he was. That didn't matter, she was with him now. Mecca glarted past him and watched the ships on the harbour. Breathing deeply he looked down once more to stare at the flame.
This time he would not take his anger out on Covet. He had a far more satisfying target in front of him. Muttering an incantation under his breath he held his hand up to shoot a blast of magic at Yaku and hopefully knock him down the steps.

Yaku saw it a moment too late to defend himself and took the full force of the blow. Flying backwards, he quickly stretched out his wings managed to catch his balance, landing easily on the ground before the steps. Yaku watched his hat skid to a stop at his feet then turned his eyes back up to Mecca. That had not been a wise decision on the red shu's part. A malicious grin slipped across his lips as his eyes fell on the small grim at his master's feet. Lifting his hand, he muttered a brief word and a spark lit the creature's fur.

Mecca looked down as Scim began to yelp with pain. Panic siezing him for a moment he shrugged his jacket off and dropped it on the tiny dog, patting the flames out and turning his eyes back up to Yaku.
Leaving Scim whimpering over his injuries Mecca ran down the steps and started to scratch a rune into the palm of his hand with his nail.

Yaku laughed at the pup's cries and the look on Mecca's face as he realized the beast was on fire. Slipping the chain that drooped down by his leg out of his pocket and unhooking it from his belt loop, he started swinging it around as Mecca started after him. Holding up his casting arm again, he muttered another word and a band of fire erupted on the red shu's shoulder and raced down across his chest.

Mecca bore the pain until his thoughts quenched it. He did not fight it nor did he cry out. Being a creature such as himself was useful in situations such as this.
As he finished the rune he held his hand up and used it to bind Yaku like a snake, the constriction winding up to his neck where it tightened still.

Yaku held out as long as he possibly could, the strain against the binding spell causing him to force more power into his flames, making them searing hot. As the binding spell wrapped around his throat, Yaku's eyes widened in a brief moment of panic, then narrowed at the crimson shu. Managing through sheer will to lift one finger from the binding, he focused on Mecca's face as his lungs began to burn for oxygen. Choking out a single word, a spark burst to life in the red shu's face, catching on the ends of his hair.
