Got my first ever bass last Friday. I am so eager to go to my first lesson on Monday.
I'll be playing no pick, 4 string Ibanez soundgear.
I already know a few simple songs.. I'm Not Okay (MCR) To The End (MCR) (The basic frets for) Cassie (Flyleaf) - Way too fast. xD
Any tips/suggestions for songs to play? =] Thanks!

Don't suck. Seriously though, learn your scales, study theory, learn to read music, and learn to play in key.

Lol, I've got pretty much the same bass. xd Pay attention at lessons but spend a lot of time learning on your own. I've never had a formal lesson, but I've watched videos, read tabs, and applied theory I learned from other instruments, and it's been great.

I'm not a very big My Chemical Romance fan (if even considered a fan at all), so I really wouldn't know what songs and such to recommend you. Have any other favorite bands or types of genres or styles of music your really into and would like to play? I may be able to recommend something with more info. biggrin
Though some really easy stuff just off the top of my head:
"Bullet with Butterfly Wings" by The Smashing Pumpkins
"I Am One" by The Smashing Pumpkins
"Money" by Pink Floyd
"Five to One" By The Doors
"Break on Through" By The Doors
"Going the Distance" by Cake
"Holy Diver" by Dio
"Rock you like a Hurricane" by The Scorpions
"Crackerman" by Stone Temple Pilots
"Smells like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana
"Lounge Act" by Nirvana
"Comedown" by Bush
Though of course, most of those may sounds a bit plain without full band accompanyment. biggrin

One of the best things that I did when I started was learn the 12-bar blues shuffle. Play it over and over again. It helped to strengthen my left hand and make fast fretting much easier

Its universal that you need to know the fundamentals and the basics down pat like scales, key sig. and chords. And although they are really boring you need to know them if you are going to be of use to anyone or if you want to wirte you're own stuff. Also learn to read music and not just bass clef, learn the others too.

Unfortunately, I disagree with some of these fine people! Certainly, if you are going to lessons, then pay attention seeing as how you had to pay to get them! But, knowing your scales and being able to read sheet music isn't the whole world. Just have fun with your music and remember that it's a game! Don't get annoyed and just quit. Keep at it! Everyone may argue and say I'm lying, but I can't read sheet music, I've never had a single lesson and I don't know any scales by name! I learnt to play by picking up a bass and playing! Sure, I know what notes sound good with other notes, but if someone says "play A sharp", I will just look at them and smile.....and that's about it! Have fun and play your heart out!
