For owner pictures I'd suggest checking in the gallery at DoA. There's been a lot of controversy over Dollzone lately because a long time ago they copied a doll and there's some discussion over whether they did it again recently. There isn't much actual proof that they have other than a few photo comparasens which owners of both dolls have stated arn't that similar in real life. So I personally don't hold much on it. Though I'm sure you'll run into people enthusiasically either claiming that they're terrible or that they've completely reformed.

Overall the quality seems good. You can ask Astro about specifics since she's delt with them before. The only time I sent them an email about something they responded almost imidiately and with a comprehensible answer which was awesome.

Which site were you looking at their dolls on? Since there are a few I'm just curious.

Dollzone is known for copyright infringement.

They copied a Delf Woori (I think)

And most recently they've blatantly ripped off the Volks SD16 bodies. (Geez guys, if you were gonna rip off bodies, couldn't you rip one off that's not ******** ugly?)

Anyways, their dolls are nice quality resin. The faceups are so so... Not really worth paying extra for.

I have a Xi, and I really like him. He poses very well and is cute as a button.
I'm not very impressed with his faceup, but it's passable.

I think they are great dolls- However if you buy one, be prepared for a lot of people to call you out on it, talk behind your back, tell you your doll is ugly and whatnot.

I really only care for their Xi's (Yeimei is cute, but she needs work. *_* Yuu is gorgeous until you see owner pics)

Unfortunately I've found that a lot of people with DZs have either done poor faceups or have had other people do poor faceups on them, and that there is a severe lack of photos that show off the true qualities of the DZ dolls.

My only complaint with the overall 2nd type boy body (which I assume is about the same as the girl body, save for with a p***s and um, no "I'LL POKE YOUR EYE OUT! >:3" nipples) is that the secondary peice of Sett's hand joint likes to pop out and twist around, which, inorder to get it to look more natural you've got to twist back in place.
Nothing terrible- Just a bit of a hassle.
It's most likely due to stringing anyway. (Like Dei, my Hound. Hound hands weren't designed very well, so they like to pop out of their joins. >_>)

Head-on view of Sett (Xi. I think they discontinued them?)

As you can see on the scar... it wasn't very well done.
His lips are a bit sloppy and I think that his eyelashes could have been better.

But I still love him. :3

And as a side note, DZ makes dynamite shoes, and they're cheap, too!

Personally, I'm holding off judgement on whether the new boys are copies or not until I see both both them together, because the pictures don't look all that similar to me. It could be just the angles though, so I'm not putting down any firm judgement.

I don't own any of their dolls, and I haven't had to deal with the company, but I have gotten to play with one of the 1/3 boy bodies (a friend of mine got one for her HD Louis head), and I really loved it. They are fab posers. It's not uncommon for MI meet-ups to have some sort of pose competition going on, and he was on par with the SDC boys.

Copies or not, I would never buy from DollZone just because I've always just found it really fishy that they manage to sell their dollfies at $200 less than any other makers. "You get what you paid for" and "if it's too good to be true, it usually is," and all that stuff so I've avoided DollZone.

Honestly, if you go into a store and think you're buying a name brand handbag and it's marked at $40 when every other stores are selling it at $200, would you buy it thinking it was the real thing? The first thing that would come to my mind is it's either terribily defective or it's a cheap imitation.

I don't know but, I mentioned this in another thread, I used to be really active in equestrian resin cast collecting and have some experience with casting resins.

The cost to cast a resin piece will vary based on how complex the mold is, and those that are done as one piece are more costly. Multiple piece resins cost very little to produce and often sell for a lot less too.

Anyway, to the point, some people in the hobby would sell their resin pieces for say... $500 a piece unpainted and unprepped. Just raw resin that needs sanding and all that as well as paint. Some would sell their own unique same scale, same quality piece, with a comperable cast number, for like $100 or $200.

Difference? Profit.

Big name artists could get more, even if their pieces were the same quality.

I think that's also that is happening here. They can save money copying a cast from another company and by hireing less thean awesome artists.

So honestly, I'm sure the resin quality and doll are fine. It's the extras I'd worry about like the face up.

I won't judge you! I think when companies copy each others molds that it's interesting..... It's a common thing. It happened with a ton of American toy brands. Chinese and Japanese companies would recast their products and sell them.

It doesn't stop me.
Hell, I'd have bought a Yuu if I liked his face enough after seeing owner photos.
I'm just not impressed by DZ's choice in bodies to copy. whee I loathe the SD16 body. Srsly, they could've chosen something a little nicer.

Selurnis: As I distinctly stated before, DZ dolls are of perfectly fine resin quality. Like Alchemical said, it's just about profit.

I can safely say that I really only care for the Xi headmold though. None of their other dolls catch my eye in person/owner photos.

I've actually ordered my first doll (DZ Lily/ Felian) from them last week. I've read into the debate about copying., and I have no prejudice against them concerning their past, and I would still be willing to buy a doll from them (already have).
I do know that Edendoll has been wonderful to me so far since I ordered my girl. I've had all my questions (yes, there were A LOT) answered within a day's time. Everyone there is very patient.^^ I trust DZ greatly, despite their reputation.

....But be warned, I've already been called a few things just for ordering a DZ girl. But if you love the doll(s) enough, it really doesn't matter what other people say, because you'll love you doll with all your soul. I haven't even seen my girl, and I'm already in love with her, lol.

i find that just horrible. especially coming from people who are constantly offended when people outside the bjd community don't understand their dolls. it's kinda like saying "you must respect my doll however i reserve the right to insult ohter people's" it just seems hipocritical to me

They DID copy a head mold a long time ago. We still don't know about the SD16 body and I'm holding off judgement till I see them myself. Because I agree that some of the pictures don't look all that similar. The only thing that might have been copied from what I can see is the joint system itself. Once again the little details of which I'd need to see in person to be sure of.

When it comes to inexpensive BJDs Dollzone is NOT the cheapest. The least expesive to my knowledge is Mythdoll. 135 for their least expensive MSD sized doll. Who also comes with a faceup and eyes. But no one tends to mention them. Or the fact that many bodies from different companies look similar and that many heads can look similar aswell in photos but different in real life.

Most BJDs are WAY over priced for production costs. The point is that we're perchasing the art. And like with anything you have people willing to make less of a profit per peice with the hopes of selling more and competing with the big boys. *shrugs*

Someone posted side-by-side comparrison pictures of them on one of the discussion topics on DoA before. They're almost exactly alike.
Even if they aren't coppied, they're still fugly.

It's just an opinion, and I am not affraid to say it.
I think that the SD16/DZ70cm bodies are horrible looking.
End of story.
