all the sudden, it hit me last night. the polar bears came from that aquarium or zoo that they are keeping jack, kate, and sawyer in. has anyone else figured that out already? i didn't see any similar posts and when i told my friends and family about it, they were all pleasantly surprised (they hadn't thought of it).

Well then, they sure are some smart bears if they could get those fish buiscits out. I would have never thought of that, even though it was really obvious now tht I think about it.

I love polar bears (see my name)
The main Other dude said it took the bears half as long as Sawyer or whatever to get the fish biscuit. I really think he was talking about polar bears. I think they were doing experiments on them in the Dharma Initiative and adapted them to warm weather, then those bears had bear babies that could survive on the island!
Who else felt bad for the bear when it got it's face burnt? sad haha

I remembered that when I saw the polor bears.... Then it was like omg flash back to that creepy fat guy saying that. I think they experimented on the bears to make them really huge, but didn't mean to do that @.@ sweatdrop

I just took it for granted from the beginning that the polar bears had been in the cages. It never occured to me to think otherwise. And then Tom mentioned the bears, so I had no doubts.
The Jesus thing never occured to me though.

I thought it was pretty obvious that Walt made the polar bears... I could be wrong, but I feel 90% sure of that. They may have put the polar bears that Walt created into the cages.... Walt obviously creates things that he sees. If he can picture it in his mind, he can make it real. He pictured that knife hitting the tree in his mind.. and the knife hit the tree. He pictured that bird in his mind and a bird appears, sadly hitting the window and dying). He pictures the polar bear from the spanish comic book in his mind and polar bears appear. Notice they stopped appearing after Walt left? Also, the Others had Walt for a while.. maybe they got him to create more polar bears which they stuck in the cages.

Yeah, and in one of the phrases of the blast door map is said:
"stated goal, repatriation accelerated de-territorialization of URSUS MARITIMUS through gene therapy and extreme climate change."
URSUS MARITIMUS means polar bear in latin, they kinda affect the bears genetically.

Tirge, that's a good theory.
While I still believe that Dharma brought bears of some kind to the island, we now know that the island that animals were kept on is not the island that the lostaways are stranded on. I know polar bears are decent swimmers, but then again, I don't know how far apart the two islands are.

I know polar bears are decent swimmers, but then again, I don't know how far apart the two islands are. Ethan said something about getting there in a day by swimming, didn't he? I think it's safe to say the Polar bears would swim across. I just can't understand why Polar bears specifically? Unless that's what they call an "easter egg" since there was a Polar bear in the comic book Walt read?
