Why must there be only one spanish word that translates into 5 relatively unrelated english words?
FIVE!!!!
I don't think we even have anything like that in english.
It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to learn all five at the same time for this quiz tommorow along with about 65 other words, maybe 10 of which I've heard before.
This is my break, becuase I'm on the last five words and can't get them for the life of me. Too much spanish running through my head.

-reverts to english for a moment-
SQUEE! You used "ojala"! That's pretty much one of my most favorite spanish words ever. Along with sin embargo, but only because it translates into "nevertheless," which is pretty much the best english word ever.
Si, ojala. Los naipes de destello (hope that's right, used an online translator. It's supposed to mean flash cards.) yo hacia no soy ayudando.

HOMG!!!
Hawk can use the verb "gustar"!!!
(No offense to hawk. Story follows that explains this outburst.)
So, my spanish teacher last class period gave us a free becuase most of the class was gone and asked if anyone wanted to grade some papers for her. I said okay.
One of the answers was supposed to be "Me gustan los cereales." or something like that.
I got anywhere from gusto ( gonk xinfinity) to gusta to I think I remember a gustas ( gonk xinfinitymax).
HOW do you mess up a verb that can only be conjugated two ways? Second year spanish kids can't get the verb gustar.
AND THEY GOT REGULAR -AR VERB ENDINGS WRONG.
Isn't that the first verb thing you learn? How, when forming the sentance "yo tomo" in three different sentences do you put "yo tomo" for the first one, "yo tomas" for the second one, and "yo toma" for the third?
And stem-changing verbs...by then they should be able to spot that they're wrong. Especially when you get it right on one question and wrong on another. They were the REALLY obvious stem-changing verbs that are so obviously wrong when you read it a first year could probably spot it.
Faith in humanity=slowly dwindling to nothingness.

I feel your pain, Waffles... xd
My first year of Spanish was horrible. I learned fast, while everyone else learned slow. I spent most of that class sleeping. Thank God for accelerated Spanish classes. 3nodding
