My friends came over today and we played truth or dare and then we were like 'what do you want to do now?' and male friend 1 was like 'well, I haven't seen RENT yet.' and I'm like 'LETSWATCHRENT!!' and my female friend was like 'Yeahh!!!' and we started it and before we even got the dvd in he's like 'what's it about?' and male friend 2 (who's seen it) was like 'it's about aids!' thought he knows it isn't. So we start it and we got to You'll See when male friend 1 says 'this is boring.' so I get mad at him and he skips one song glory to go to out tonight, and then I get really mad at him and I throw the remote at him and I end up turning it off because male friend 1&2 were complaining that it was boring and I almost started crying because they ruined my favorite movie, YET AGAIN.
EVERY time I watch it, some man always ruins it. My dad makes fun of it, my brother makes fun of Idina (which pisses me off even more) and male friend 2 is always being an a*****e and turning off the tv when I watch it.
My mom said that they only think it's boring because they're men and they don't have feelings and everything in RENT. I agree with her. Unless it's one of the males here that love RENT as much as I do, if not more.

OmG! My stepbrother is like that! It's like grow up man seriously! My big brother (hes 17) is really dramatical and loves theatre and is the one that actually introduced me to rent!!! We both absolutely ADORE it but besides him none of my friends like it!

Hehe. My brother's 19 and refused to see RENT for ever since it came out until...the end of August or something. He made fun of it, talked about how much he would hate it, blah blah blah. Although I was able to force One Song Glory onto his ipod, which he said was okay. After so many months of begging I finally got him to watch it...and he totally got into it mrgreen It was my triumphant moment. Even after he admited to liking it, all he could talk about was it's flaws, but that's okay with me. And...my dad loved it, too. But he also bought a Guide to Chick Flick while we were in England, so he's not exactly typical. So...I dunno what the point of my story here was. Just thought I'd share it.

most of the boys in my grade are such freaks when it comes to rent... but i introduced my dad to it, and he likes it. my mom hates it, but my dad loves it.

My brother makes fun of Rent, but he also makes fun of just about anything, so it's no big deal... plus, he saw Rent live many years ago when it was first being talked about.
I don't know, just as I know boys who don't like Rent, I know girls, too. Some people just don't dig musicals.

My brother's like that. He doesn't dislike rent because of it's lack of nudity, though, it's from a severly theatrical view.
So it's okay, I guess.
He still pissed me off a little bit when he talked about the mediocrity of Tracie Thom's acting, and then went on to critisize her lack of creativity with her notes.

As for my male friends... They bawled harder than I did when Angel died.

I should loan you my guy friends for a bit.
My best friend was the one who got me addicted to it by lending me his copy of the movie, although my boyfriend was the one who first started telling me about it. And my gay friend actually sings along - to the whole thing - and can hit ALL of Mimi, Maureen and even Joanne's notes.
It makes me slightly jealous, since I have a hard time doing Mark's part (I'm a girl with a lower voice range).

Most of them do, yes. But I've admitted that most of my male friends are assholes who couldn't give a rat's a** about theatre. ^ ^
My boyfriend said he liked it, though. I think he might've been a little bit uncomfortable at certain parts during La Vie Boheme, but I really think he did like it for the most part. :3

I think some teenage boys are afraid to show their emotions, so they automatically dismiss something that they see as feminine and "boring" or even "gay."
Why would you let that get to you though? All that ever really matters is that you like RENT.

My boyfriend and my best friend (a guy) both like RENT...
Me and my sister freakin' obsess... sweatdrop
But my brother...
he hates it. He always makes fun of the music when we listen to it and he won't ever let us watch it. He sometimes won't even let us get it from the movie store.

One of my close friends is a guy and he begged me to take him with me to Rent when I was going to see it on stage and I did and it was great. He loooooves it. lol. <3
