History: Asher is a Master Vampire, and the lover of Jean-Claude and Anita Blake...
Asher was originally a member of Belle Morte's court. Initially jealous of Jean-Claude for his beauty, Asher and Jean-Claude eventually became lovers. Asher, Jean-Claude, and Asher's human servant Julianna then left Belle Morte to travel the world. Their time together (20 years) came to an end when Asher and Julianna were captured; before Jean-Claude could leave his dying mother and save them, Julianna was burned at the stake as a witch and Asher was permanently disfigured by holy water. For the next three hundred years, Asher never forgave Jean-Claude for failing him and Juliana, and was never able to accept the loss of his own beauty. He came to St. Louis with the intention of killing Anita as revenge for Jean-Claude not being with them or saving Julianna.

In Cerulean Sins Asher admits that if Jean-Claude had been with them, he probably would have been hurt like Asher. Worse, there would be no one to save Asher so he would have shared Julianna's fate of death.

Within the novels, Asher seems to represent the darker sides of Anita's sexual desires. Asher's demanding nature, ability to dominate Anita's mind, and pure physical danger represent a strong contrast with more supportive, less demanding lovers such as Micah or Nathaniel. However, in surrendering her self-control and safety to Asher, Anita has experienced the greatest pleasure out of any of her many lovers.

Entry 1:

Asher sat at his desk, scribbling away in a journal. His golden mane had been pushed back, revealing the scars on the right side. He was alone in this room, away from public sight. Candles were settled on the large desk he was seated at. Soft music flowed from where a rather modern stereo played soft music. For a moment, he closed his husky blue eyes, listening to rhythm of the music as it wrapped around his soul. The sweet scent of vanilla drifted in. Nathaniel’s scent. A smile curved the lush mouth of the vampire as he remembered giving the room up for a moment or two for Anita and Nathaniel. Not that he complained much a bout it.

Upon returning to his writing, Asher sensed something was different. It felt like his room but it also felt as though something were watching him. Immediately he shifted his head, sending the golden curls to cascade in front of his face. “Who’s there?” he asked softly. He turned his gaze to the opened window, seeing nothing there. Frowning, Asher left his desk to close the window.

When he turned around to survey his surroundings, something twinkled on his bed, nestled in the overlaying fur throw. “What the-“ he paused in mid sentence, gliding towards his bed to lift whatever it was the glittered on his bed. What lay now in his hands was a crystal orb of swirling blues. Curiosity entered his brain as well as caution…

Entry: 3

The noon day sun was up. The heavy drapes had been pulled securely shut, blocking the deadly sun out. The heat was there on the outside, but it was nice and cool inside the room.

Asleep on the bed was Asher, curled up with his arm tucked under his pillow and head, the crystal in the crook of his other arm. He appeared dead to the world and in a sense, he was dead. Golden hair spilled over his pillow, the scars on his face revealed to the world as he slept in the comfort of his chambers. His husky blue eyes closed, golden lashes creating golden crescents against the alabaster skin. Later, when he arose, he would be hungry.

The crystal’s fog swirled about peacefully, as though it too slept. He had only discovered the orb on his bed but already had a bond forging. His own friend that wouldn’t judge him for how he looked… it was a very pleasant thought to the sleepy vampire.

Entry: 5

Julianna took a flying leap onto Asher. "Aher! Aher!" She squealed, shaking him and trying to wake him up. It was just after twilight and Asher had promised Julianna he would get her a pet of her own, to keep her company whilst he slept his daylight hours and when he would be away, working at the circus or at Guilty Pleasures.

Asher groaned as the undera continued to nudge him. He had little choice but to wake up when she was consistent with her goals. "I'm awake Julianna." He murmured sleepily.

She tugged at his hand. "Doggie Aher! Joo promwised." She pouted a little as she settled on the ground while he rolled to his stomach and sat up, fussing with his hair.

"Yes I did promise you I would get you a puppy, Julianna. I haven't forgotten." He stretched out and moved from his bed to his closet, having nothing but pants on. Opening the closet, he pulled one of the shirts off the rack. It was a favorite of his: Deep red, long sleeved, button down. He pulled it on and adjusted his hair again.

He went to where her little dresser was and retrieved a shirt for her to wear. He wasn't concerned about bottoms yet as her lower half consisted of ribbons rather then legs. He tugged it on her before scooping her up, kissing her cheek and walking out of the room, out of the house and too his car. He had bought it whenever he and Julianna went out. When he was on his own he had the bike to take with him.

He settled her into the passenger seat and the booster seat he had gotten for her too. Once she was buckled in and he was in the car, they drove off to the little petshop for her puppy.

At the pet shop, Asher followed behind his undera with his hands in his pockets. Julianna darted this way and that, looking at all the puppies and kittens. She giggled a couple of times finding interest in them.

In one section, behind the clear pannel was a wolf pup. She sat there, peering out. That was the puppy Julianna wanted to get as she peered at the beauty before her. "Aher." She said, pointing to the pup.

Asher saw and smiled. Wolf. Jean-Claude's animal to call. "Alright." He requested from the employee that this was the pup he wanted.

After gathering things they would need for the wolf and the wolf, they left for home...
