Technicaly, it shows up as level, but just barely and on my new 55g fishtank its imposible to make the waterline stay above the plastic lip. My mom thinks its my stand and since I have carpet I cant be 100% sure, but its the same on my other tank. As soon as I do a water change, the waterlevel is below the plastic rim on one side and nearly overflowing on the other!

Is there any way you could stick carboard under the tank or stand to help level it out?

What kind of stand do you have?

If your stand is indeed causing it to be that uneven I would suggest either getting a new stand or finding some way to fix it, because if there is a weak spot in it somewhere it could collapse. The last thing you want is 55 gallons of water and fish on your floor, I'm sure. rofl

I keep my 55gal on a sturdy wooden set of drawers that two 300lb men could tap dance on all day, and even that makes me nervous sometimes lol. (Then again, I'm a very paranoid woman.)

Anyways, find yourself a leveler so you can see exactly what is causing the tilt. You can probably find one at a hardware store if you don't have one.

It's a neat little tube of water with a bubble floating in it. Looks something like this.

If you find out it's your floor that isn't level, well take Prince Sushi's advice and prop one side up. Make sure it's as even as you can get it. Only do it if you're 100% sure that whatever is propping it up can't get knocked out by accident~

Good luck with figuring out what the problem is!

I have like 5 levels in my house, my mom flips houses for a living.(fixes up crapholes) anyways, my tank is on a wroughtiron stand strong enough to hold 2 55 gallon tanks and was actualy meant to hold 2, but I have 10g tanks on the bottom instead.

I've seen where these stands get bent and when they do its pretty noticable lol so theres nothing wrong with mine. my only concern was that it wasn't sinking into the carpet enough to level out. I had a 10g tank, the HOB filter, and some heaver rocks all on the same side of the stand, so now I've added a second 10g tank which should make the total weight enough to sink through the carpet

Ooh, I see what you are saying now.

Hope it works itself out then! (:

it doesn't effect my filter or any other part of the fist tank and it doesn't run the rist of tipping over, it just doesn't look good lol

I don't have a level, but my 30g was quite uneven when I set it up as well. I had to stick some wood slats under two of the legs. Now the water level is maybe a cm higher on one side. Good enough.

now that winter is comming around, i've noticed that my tank is too close to a window and is getting a bad draft even though it gets zero sunlight from the window so I've decided to move it and I'm building a wooden stand because the metal one seems like its about to fall over sweatdrop

Mine is close to my window ... unfortunately there's nowhere else to put it, as I have a fairly small room. As long as I keep the window shut it seems to mantain temperature just fine. I do have to keep the heater up a bit high, though, since my room gets to be like 60 sometimes.

You know that white stirofoam you get when you by something breakable? well here's a trick for you. see if you can get some from a hardware store (it should be pretty cheap i got a crap load for about $2). next, put it under you tank! I did this with my 20 gallon that had a crooked stand. it balances out the water and also puts less strain on the tank! heart
