Hello people. They're having an activity for Halloween next Friday, and it's going to be a costume party... but I don't know what to dress up as? I was thinking of dressing up as Link from Zelda, but I have a feeling that crossdressing is discouraged. razz (this coming from a girl with a guy avatar). Does anybody have any ideas for a costume or know the rules associated with costumes?

I saw a music video where they had a girl dress up as Link. You could just say you're going as her.

eek

I tried for AGES to get the leadership to let us do something like that! LUCKY.

As far as rules for costumes go, I'd say keep to modest dress standards. If your costume doesn't meet those, you may be able to get away with wearing something more-or-less skin toned underneath it.

I don't know what your leadership thinks but one of the reasons I could never get mine to do this was the issue of identity. Your face should be reasonably clear (ie, no masks) so that people know that you are you.

I thought it was only considered crossdressing if you were a guy in a skirt and it wasn't halloween. Go as Link if you have the stuff. I don't think they'll know who you are anyway. No body got my cardcaptor sakura costume three years ago emo and even worse, they couldn't figure out I was an elf two years ago. Honestly, if someone came up to you in an all green outfit with leaves and the like sewed on to it, what would you think?! Nd last year I was a chinese girl and no body commented!!! crying It was an authentic chinese dress too!!! I had to wear leggings to keep modest!! crying

I dunno, Link it pretty recognisable, and I know most if not all people at the activity will know who I am... I was thinking of going as like, Princess Peach but that would be a really hard costume to make... Aeris? I feel like I should go as some sort of Nintendo character razz

Our ward isn't having a costume party, they're doing a chili cook off and then a "trunk or treat". You sign up to decorate your car trunk and put candy (I'm assuming) in it. I didn't go last year, but I'll probably check it out this year. ...Assuming I don't have to work).

But anyways, I know for a fact that masks are not allowed in our ward. Something about scaring the children?

I think the no masks thing is a church-wide policy. I think it has to do with hiding your identity, as Itesa said. I can understand that, because people will act differently when they have that feeling of anonymity. It's like the internet! razz

I thought it was a standard thing at parties also for vision perposes. Some of those are hard to se through.

... what about a jedi? No face mask, relatively cheap, and not necissarily cross dressing.

But wait i dont remeber hearing anything about cross dressing being frowned apon...

I would assume that cross-dressing is a no-no, just because... Yeah, it's cross-dressing...

I dunno about the cross-dressing thing. Provided the makeup isn't scary, and it easily meets the modesty guidelines. How bad can it be? Guys in grey wigs and moomoos. xd
And I think a girl going as Link would be totally fine, right?
