Hi! I'm MegaRose, welcome to my quest thread. I've been sort of a lurker in the Breedables forum for about 2 years, with a bunch of failed attempts at stardom here and there. The idea of having a Fa'e has danced around in the back of my head for a lot of this time, not just because of the gorgeous art, but because of all the great roleplaying. I think I'm a pretty good writer, but I hardly ever have the chance to roleplay. I dunno, it seems like whenever I try I either get ignored or get bored. It's probably something I'm doing wrong, I'll figure it out eventually. I won't pretend to be 100% perfect and say I only want a Fa'e for the roleplaying opportunities. I'm not uncorrupt. Fa'e are pretty much the holy grail of Breedables. There's a little part of me deep down in the gooey pockets of my brain that thinks getting a Fa'e would make me popular. And then people would pay more for my lineart and I'd be able to have everything I've ever wanted from Gaia and everyone would love me. I'm sorry. That sounds horrible and it is. But I try to confine that creepy part of me to the tiniest part of my personalty. Mentioning it might've completely destroyed my chances of ever getting a Fa'e, but I would've felt bad if I put on an act. Oh man, I wrote waaay too much about that. Seriously though, I honestly am in awe of all the intensive roleplay that goes on with the Fa'e. I haven't read most of it of course, but it's always awesome. I think the best thing anyone can do for me at this point in my quest is to give me constructive criticism on my concept. So, onto the actual quest thread.

Quote: Common Name: El Chupacabra ('the goat-sucker') Scientific Name: None, chupacabras have not yet been classified Status: Cryptid Habitat: Densely forested areas. Originally from Europe, but adapted quickly and successfully to Latin America. Size: 3-4 feet high at the shoulder Appearance: A predominantly canine face, with red, bulging eyes and large fangs protruding from the lower jaw and through the lip. The body is also like that of a canine's, but with a prominent spinal ridge. The limbs are unusually long, giving the body a roughly humanoid appearance. Four long toes on each paw, plus dewclaws on the front paws. Claws are very long. The tail is thin, like a rat's. The entire creature is covered with a very sparse, wiry coat of hair that ranges from grey to dull red in color. The skin is exposed in all areas, and the color resembles that of a human's flesh. Abilities: Paralysis, via the eyes. Direct eye contact with the victim is apparently not required. Does not work on other chupacabras. Duration of paralysis is unknown. Diet: Medium-sized game. Chupacabras are famous for sucking the blood from farm animals. However, blood is only a fraction of the chupacabra's diet, and domestic livestock are only a fraction of the chupacabra's prey. Litter quantity: 5-8 pups per litter. Infant mortality rates are high. Temperament: Very violent. Untamable. Intelligence: Reasonably intelligent. Chupacabras have no language or tools, but do have cohesive social organization. Comparable to wolves, but more crafty. I think we're all somewhat familiar with the chupacabra. The name means 'goatsucker' in Spanish. The chupacabra is basically a mysterious, monstrous animal that has been blamed for livestock mutilations in Latin America. The chupacabra was supposedly first sighted in 1947 in Puerto Rico, as the culprit behind a number of animal killings. Each mutilated animal was found with two holes punctured in its neck. Since then, chupas have been popping up all over Latin America, and according to Wikipedia, Maine (huh?). They are said to have red eyes and a hypnotizing gaze that paralyzes their prey. There are a few major interpretations of what the chupacabra is supposed to look like. The most common is reptillian in nature, with a forked tongue and spines down its back. I choose to go with the canine version of the chupa, which is either hairless or covered in a very coarse greyish coat. Most chupacabra corpses found are actually shaved coyotes or wild mutts with mange. There are three major origin stories for the chupacabra. One states that they are aliens (typical conspiracy babble). Another says that they are some escaped genetic no-no from a US laboratory. The one I'm using states that the chupacabras have always been here, and were spotted in medieval Europe and used as inspiration for gargoyles. Very little is known about the chupacabras' origins. Out of the few that have ever even been seen by humans, the only ones we have records for are the ones from the last century. And out of those, a good portion of supposed sightings were actually misidentified corpses (usually dogs with mange) or the result of overactive imaginations. The interpretation I'm working with, the one which is being reborn as my Fa'e, is an intelligent but pre-verbal animal of a magical nature. They first appeared in Europe, although their exact origins are unknown, and came to the Americas on the ships of Spanish and Portugese explorers, hiding in the cargo bays where there were supposed to be livestock. When the colonists were expecting a delivery of cattle and whatnot, what they found was a mess. Chupas are social animals that live in packs headed by an alpha that can be best compared to a queen ant or termite. The alpha has psychic power, limited to the control of its packmates. The chupas have a sort of hivemind, each one working for the interests of the pack and the alpha. Living in packs is technically not necessary for chupas to survive, but they are intelligent enough to acknowledge the added benefits of social groupings. Chupacabras routinely practice siblicide at birth, males are known to eat their own young, and in times of crisis they are willing to turn to cannibalism. However, when resources are plenty, they form a relatively peaceful, cohesive unit. New mothers isolate themselves from the back when birthing, and are extremely protective of their pups for the first 5-6 months. They look mainly like monstrous dogs (but with long limbs that create the illusion of a very vague hominid shape). The females reach about 3 feet tall at the shoulder, and the males are slightly smaller. They have very sparse, wiry fur, more like human body hair than an animal's coat. They have two fangs protruding not from the top, but from the bottom jaw. They use these to siphon blood, crack the bones of their prey, and to fight with each other over mates. Chupas do not exclusively eat the blood of livestock. They usually suck out the blood-rich organs of their prey, which can include deer and whatevere similar-sized animals live in their territory. When they have the opportunity, they will attempt to eat their entire kill. However, they are rarely given the chance to sit there by a meal for hours, so they slurp up the organs and go. Since chupacabras can instantly paralyze their prey, they don't need to be stealthy or coordinated to bring down a kill. Instead of hunting in well-organized formations to single out and kill a single animal, they spread out over their entire territory, each one searching for its own kill. They relay information to the group as a whole through the hivemind, which makes it easy for them to find each other when the hunt is done. However, this leads to chupa packs frequently killing more prey than they can actually eat, leaving behind plenty of mutilated corpses for scavengers and conspiracy nuts to find. The Fa'eZOMG WRITING EXCERPT WHOO She was whelped in the humid jungle like all the rest, as the rains of winter receeded and the muggy heat of summer had not yet secured its grasp on the unmoving air. She was one of many born that day. The litter of wet and naked pups were not the last to be born that season. Still covered in the fluids of her bearer, eyes not yet opened, the disgusting struggle for survival had already begun. Eight pups. Six teats. Siblicide would determine the lucky diners that first night. Before even partaking of her mother's milk she had tasted blood. Her first day ended in sick satisfaction. The summer sun sent its fires down upon her head as the b***h and her brood rejoined the pack. Five pups now. They were strong, no longer an easy meal for the beast that sired them. They suckled no longer, now getting their sustenance from their mother's kills, regurgitated into their waiting throats in an act of maternal love, although gruesome to behold. As she laid eyes upon the pack she could already feel the alpha's control invading her mind. A strong, veteran hunter he was, the father of many pups, most now grown. She could feel his mental push, sense his experiened, weary calm. Her own self, though not lost, was now of the pack's. Night. She was grown now, in instinctual preperation for her own litter. The clumsy, sleepy herds awaited the attack in blissful ignorance. She reached out in her mind, sensing the positions of her subordinates, many her own pups. They were ready. She ordered a single command, attack!, and the bloody deed was done. First, the gaze, a paralyzing stare from red, bulging eyes. Then, the strike, a flurry of claws and teeth, underscored by the panicked wail of the slain. The males ate. The females drank. Mating would commence. The pack was strong. Healthy. Large. HERS. Many rivals had been torn apart to protect her dominance. Many children had been bore, and many childrens' children were now learning the ways of pack life. She could sense them all within her own mind. She was proud of them. She loved them. Night once again. Winter rains flooded the streams and made the land wet and diseased. The hunt was difficult. The tall, chattery creatures had taken away the easy prey. The deer had migrated to drier forest. The pups were hungry. She reached to her packmates, saw through their eyes as they searched the jungle. The traces of prey were few. All finds were small, insubstantial. Lightning and thunder did battle above the canopy. Wood cracked. Leaves rustled. She dismissed it, ran off in search of prey. A black shape engulfed the ground before her, inescapably dark on the already shadowed forest floor. The tree came down, like the fist of some wrathful giant. She was trapped. Her spine was crushed. She reached out to her brood, distress flooding their conscious minds. They rushed to her, cried for her. They tore relentlessly at the ground around her. Viciously gnawed at the trunk that pinned her. Despite their fury, nothing could free her. When she faded into death, they would surely consume her. No. NO. NO.What would become of her pack? Her babies. HER babies. They would not survive, she was sure of it. They needed her. She was not ready to relinquish control of them. She was not ready to die. NO.This chupacabra, a female, wasn't really spectacular. She became the alpha of her pack, but her life was largely unremarkable. Even her death was an anticlimax, a simple natural disaster (lightning struck a tree, and it fell on her). She was simply an overprotective mother. Her young pups were an easy meal for her packmates if she was not there to defend them. Her desperate, instinctual desire to protect her brood was a motive strong enough to push her into rebirth as a Fa'e.

Name: Technically, none. The wolfoid dance language has no proper nouns. When she is brought to Gaia, Conrad and the Fa'e decide that they need to call her something. They present to her a book of baby names, to see if she'd pick something on her own. Confused, she tries biting the book. Her tooth makes a hole through the pages. One page is punctured right under 'Jean' on one side and 'Mollie' on the other. From that point on, she is referred to as Jean Mollie, which would eventually be shortened to 'Jeany.' She eventually starts identifying herself with the name 'Jeany.' Gender: Female. Adult Height: 4'2" standing, 2'6" at the shoulder when on all fours. Hair:Red-brown, layered into separate shades much like fur camoflouge. Originally long, as the wolfoid species shed regularly and never needed the concept of cuttng hair. When Jeany is brought to Gaia, somebody gets stuck with the job of cleaning her up. After all the damaged hair, impossible tangles, and debris are cut away, her hair is left very short. From that point on her hair is kept trimmed to prevent it from becoming impossibly dirty again. Her eyebrows are very thick, and she has prominent sideburns. Her entire body is covered with sparse, wiry hair. Eyes: Humanoid, white with a red iris and round pupil. Her eyelashes are straight and thick, but not to an exceptional degree. The lower lids curve outwards slightly more than on a human, giving her eyes a larger, almost bulging appearance. Jeany is color deficient. Similar shades will appear identical when placed next to each other, and some colors simply register incorrectly. Nose: Doglike, wet and black. A wide obtuse triangle with easily visible nostrils. The sense of smell is very acute. Ears: Pointed and animalistic. Set at the sides of her head. The inside of the ears are pinkish and filled with fine hairs. The cartilage has a twisted appearance, as if the ear has been squashed and not resumed its original shape. The sense of hearing is very acute, and can detect sounds at very high and very low ranges. Mouth: The lower canine teeth are long and protrude through the lips, creating a visible underbite. Jeany must open her mouth slightly in order to smile. These teeth are hollow and are used for sucking the blood-rich organs from prey. The lower lip is full and prominent, pushed outwards by the teeth. The upper lip is thin, turned downwards to the point where it is almost horizontal. The jaw is well-muscled. All teeth are sharp, crooked, yellowed but with no cavities. The tongue is long, thin, and forked. Body: The shoulders and upper body muscles are well-developed, but the abdomen is soft and the hips are narrow, forming a masculine figure. Breasts are very small. The spinous processes are long and promintent through the skin, although Jeany is not thin enough for bones to show in other places. A foot-long tail extends from the base of the spine. The tail is thin and flexible like a rat's. Limbs: Jeany walks on all fours. Her hind legs are longer than her front legs, as in a human, but are constantly bent so that her body is kept level. The arms and legs are muscular and skilled at running. Jeany walks on her toes and fingertips. The hands are almost like a human's, but the thumbs are very short, high on the wrist, and non-opposable. The fingers bend inwards like a human's but also bend outwards considerably, allowing Jeany to rest nearly all her weigh ton them. The feet have five toes arranged like a human's, and just as long, but cannot be moved very much at all. The ankle is constructed differently, allowing her to balance on her toes at all times. The finger and toenails are long and clawlike. With practice, Jeany can be taught to walk on two legs like a human. When standing erect, she rests her weight on the entire foot, not just the toes. When running, or when walking over very uneven terrain, she prefers to go on all fours. Dietary Habits: Jeany's stomach rejects any and all foods except for raw meat. When in infancy, she was suckled by a wolfoid (not her guardian, who wasn't producing milk at the time), and she continues to have some tolerance for milks. If necessary, she would eat insects. Rotting meat is not a major problem for Jeany, but she will avoid it if possible. Special Abilities: Jeany can paralyze most lifeforms with her eyes. Direct eye contact is not needed. If she concentrates her energy and, her victim's eyes see hers, even if for a small moment, it will be frozen in place. The paralysis theoretically wears off within hours. This power does not work on chupacabras and is not guaranteed to work on Fa'e. After reaching the Ancient stage, Jeany gains the ability to create a hivemind with certain animals. This allows them to pool their intelligence and their senses, giving them an advantage when hunting and in battle. The mental connection is temporary and can only be made voluntarily. Jeany does not have the power to perform actual mind control. The only animals who would voluntarily link minds with Jeany are those that she is already friends with, usually dogs. The hivemind does not work on humans or Fa'e. Thought Patterns: Jeany's thoughts do not take the form of inner voices, but inner pictures and intangible concepts. Her mind cannot be 'read' in the traditional sense, but instead can be 'watched.' Her thoughts are peppered with 'phantom' movements, which mean things in the wolfoid dance language. She feels as if she is moving, but the feeling is similar to being in a dream, and she is not actually moving her physical body. Jeany has limited skills in verbal communication and critical thinking. As she has never used her hands except for locomotion, she has horrible hand-eye coordination and her motor skills in her fingers are undeveloped. However, when not required to talk or use her hands, she can usually find her way around most problems. Speech Patterns: Jeany's native language is not spoken. the wolfoid dance language is purely visual, involving elaborate body movements that symbolize basic descriptions, nouns, orders, and ideas. Jeany is not truly fluent in this language, as she lacks some of the appendages that the wolfoids use in their communication. In addition, her color deficiency makes it slightly difficult to follow the movements of other 'speakers.' Wolfoid dance language has no proper nouns, instead referring to particular things as 'that person' or 'that thing.' Giving individuals their own symbolic movement sequences would be inconvenient, as they would likely be long and complex to ensure their uniqueness, and constant dancing makes wolfoids rather tired. In English, Jeany has horrible grammar. She rejects the idea of pronouns, finding it inconvenient that their meanings change with context. She refers to individuals as 'that,' or by description, or by their proper names. She uses only the present tense. She focuses more on tone of voice and body language than words, making sarcasm incomprehensible to her. She will sometimes replace nouns with nonsense sounds or exaggerated arm-waving when she feels that it sums up the 'feel' of the thing better. Jeany can use a mix of wolfoid dance and English to communicate with regular Earth dogs. They understand her body language at a toned-down, primitive level, and of course can be taught plenty of different spoken commands. Personality: Cheery, curious, impulsive, but also (sometimes simultaneously) violent and psychotic. Her first reaction to new things (such as being transported to Gaia) is to become defensive and violent. However, once she is convinced that she is not in danger, she will proceed to investigate everything within sight, by sniffing, licking, and biting. When she decides that she likes someone, she is very loyal and protective. She will go to great lengths to get a friend to smile, and enjoys physical contact. She will take a liking to pretty much anyone who is friendly. If she gets the feeling that you aren't interested in socializing, she'll avoid you. She is especially fond of children and puppies. Jeany solves problems by biting and ramming her head into things. She is capable of finding real solutions, but usually won't bother. Because Jeany grew up in the wild, she isn't squeamish. She has often killed her own food, ran around without clothes on, and pooped behind bushes. Many of the things that humans would consider disgusting, or even immoral, are perfectly normal for her. Her understanding of human standards is limited at first, and she may think a gift of dead birds or other gross things would be welcomed. When threatened or hunting, Jeany can become very violent. Her attacks are wild and undisciplined, but her teeth, claws, and raw strength are enough to do serious damage. Another Fa'e, or even a human with combat training, could easily subdue her because she doesn't really have any idea what she's doing. She will make frenzied, inhuman noises, and has been known to drool. These violent moments are completely voluntary and she usually does not regret them. If guarding a kill or something precious to her, she will growl and hiss to make people think that she's about to go berserk. Hobbies: Jeany cannot read, does not care about nor understand music and television, and does not have thumbs with which to do any sort of craft. Instead, she enjoys hunting. She and several stray dogs form a ragtag pack, and they go into the forest to track and kill the local game. She understands that hunting her own food isn't necessary on Gaia, but she finds it fulfilling to do so. She also enjoys playing with children, although her types of games are usually rough and messy.

Quote: Common Name: None. They are usually referred to simply as wolves. Scientific Name: None Status: Dominant species Habitat: Densely forested areas, in a dimension with no known name. Size: 2-3 feet high at the shoulder Appearance: Very much like a wolf. Has two primitive eyes (no pupil) positioned above their normal ones (with pupil). Fur along the sagittal crest, down the back to the base of the tail. The tail itself is long and dextrous, with a tuft of fur at the end. Four toes on each paw, plus dewclaws on the front paws. Ear tips, toes, fur crest, tail, and underbelly are brightly colored, the rest of the body is dull. Abilities: No supernatural abilities. Diet: Small- to medium-sized prey species of their native dimension. Will eat fish if available, but do not hunt in the water. Litter quantity: 2-3 pups per litter. Temperament: Calm, adaptable, friendly Intelligence: High. Known to communicate through elaborate displays of body language. This pseudo-language looks a bit like dancing, much like the communication that goes on between bees. The ears, paws, tail, belly, and a long crest of fur along the back are brightly colored for visibility, making communication easier. They convey meaning by raising paws, moving the tail, stiffening the fur, blinking their four eyes, raising up on the hind legs, and many other movements. This is believed to be an inexact language, expressing vague descriptions and basic nouns. As their language relies mainly on sight, their brains are very detail-oriented. With training, they can be taught more precise language, both through standardized sign language and lexigrams that correspond to spoken words. They can form simple sentences an a level comparible to Earth's trained chimpanzees and bonobos. They live in small packs of a dozen or so, in surprising peace. They are not known to eat their own young, practice siblicide, nor kill each other overmates. Leadership is very informal. Jeany's guardian is a wolf-ish creature she knows only as 'Mama.' Because they have no spoken language, their individuals, their species, and their home world are nameless. In their dance language, the world is simply 'here,' the species is 'us,' and individuals are 'that guy over there.' Jeany's guardian fails to respond to any names people try to give her. 'Mama' lived a very insignificant life before Jeany's arrival into her life. The daily routine was wake up, hunt something, eat it, sleep again. Granted, as a fairly intelligent species, they had forms of recreation and other stuff to pass the time, but none of them actually mattered. She had no pups of her own yet, although she was of age. Then, she got baby Jeany, who showed up one day, cuddled up next to her when she woke up. Mama didn't recognize Jeany as anything she would eat, or anything that would grow up to eat her, so she just observed the baby. Jeany was obviously young and helpless, so Mama adopted her. She had no trouble explaining to her packmates, 'don't eat this,' and from then on, Jeany was family. That isn't to say that she blended in perfectly. Jeany didn't have four eyes, or the crest of fur that her companions did, so communication with them was impaired. Plus, she was hairless, which is bound to be off-putting. Mama put up with her, reluctantly at first, but by the time Jeany was in the toddler stage, she'd been around so long that Mama couldn't imagine eating her. Mama has always occupied a strange position on the language barrier between Jeany and everything else. Amongst the other wolf-ish creatures (wolfoids?), she had to clarify what Jeany was saying because her motions were never quite right. When they first come to Gaia, Mama is the one to keep a cool head when Jeany is freaked out about the changes in her life. Then, when Jeany learns to talk, their positions reversed, with Jeany being Mama's translator. Because Mama has no way of getting a job and supporting Jeany in the usual way, the two will most likely live in the forest near Fa'e HQ, unless someone offers them a place to stay. Even then, though, the two are unaccustomed to civilized life and would probably make a mess of things and run off to the more familiar wilderness. Mama is a fairly mellow 'person,' who usually thinks before she acts. When hunting, she will stalk her prey for a long time before making any moves. Jeany, on the other hand, doesn't have the patience to do anything but leap into action. Mama isn't afraid to be rough with Jeany to stop her from doing stupid things. She will grab Jeany with her teeth if she has to. Although this happens often, Jeany is actually pretty obedient. She just rarely stops to think if Mama would approve of what she's about to do. Mama is a fan of art. It would seem surprising for a canine to care about art, but her species relies a lot on sight for communication. When she sees a statue or some fancy architecture, she'll take time to look it over from all angles. Since she communicates through body language, she enjoys dance, and can interpret the motions if she understands the subject matter. For example, hula dance movements for palm trees would register as trees, but movements for boats would confuse her, as Mama's species doesn't have boats. She's less interested in flat pictures, preferring three-dimensional media. Mama is content to simply observe things and think about what they are, as opposed to Jeany who would try to climb on it or eat it.

BabyJean Mollie appeared one night, pressed up against the young female wolfoid (who would later be known as 'Mama') for warmth. Mama woke up that morning very confused. The baby looked like no animal she had ever seen before. The baby didn't run away, so perhaps it wasn't something to be hunted down and eaten. It certainly wasn't a threat. What would she do with it? The baby was clearly helpless. Although Mama had not yet bore any pups of her own, she felt sympathy for the child. She couldn't just leave it out in the wilderness to die, that'd be horrible. So she gently began to lick the child clean. Mama's pack reacted in much the same way. They didn't know what to make of the baby, so they just let it stick around. One of the older females, who had puppies of her own who would soon be weaned, nursed the baby since Mama could not. Because the baby was unable to move on its own, a handful of generous females stayed with Mama where the baby was found, while the rest of the pack moved on to follow their prey's migration patterns. ToddlerJean Mollie was weaned very quickly and started crawling around at a surprisingly early age. Soon, she was running around on all fours, playing roughly with the older puppies of the wolfoid who nursed her. Although she was definitely developing, she wasn't really growing. She looked almost as small as she was when she first showed up. Now that she was moving around on her own, the females rejoined the rest of the pack. Jeany stuck close to Mama, as she still wasn't able to defend herself. By this point, Mama had settled into a parenting routine. Jean Mollie had been around so long that the thought of eating or abandoning her didn't cross Mama's mind. Mama accepted Jeany as her own puppy. This puppy just happened to be...strange. At this age, Jeany was slowly learning the wolfoid dance language. She had difficulty learning to 'speak,' as her physiology was different than that of her peers. Wolfoids have four eyes, which they blink in different patterns as part of their language. Jean Mollie has two eyes. She tried to compensate by blinking her two eyes twice as many times, but the messages weren't clear. Mama, who was with her all the time, came to understand what she was trying to say, and would clarify for her when other pack members didn't understand. The pack, who had been apart from Jeany for some time after her initial appearance, were a bit doubtful that she could really be one of the group. The leaders decided that Jean Mollie could stay, if Mama took responsibility for her. The pups close to Jeany's age kept their distance at first, but as they became used to the sight of her, they began to play with her as if she was one of them. ChildJeany is now strong enough to accompany the adults on their hunts. It is a bit difficult for her to learn how to hunt with the pack. Her lack of extra eyes made it difficult for her to watch their prey and still watch the signals and orders given by the adults. She is also very impatient and doesn't like having to stalk prey for a long time before attacking. She was constantly jumping out into the open to attack things far bigger than her. After a few hunts, they start making her stay with the older wolfoids and the new puppies. Then however, they find out that she can make animals freeze in place with only her eyes. She first uses this ability on a small rodent-like animal when she's bored and wants a snack. She did it instinctively, without realizing that it was unusual. When the wolfoids saw her doing this, they started bringing her on the hunts again. In fact, they boosted her confidence and got her to attack first. Once some prey is paralyzed, the other hunters didn't have to do very much at all. With Jean Mollie's help, the pack started bringing down more prey, faster. Jean Mollie often got a whole animal all to herself to eat. Before, she and the other puppies had been given smaller scraps, usually meat, brought back when the adults hunted. When left alone with an entire corpse, Jeany instinctively began sucking out the blood and organs. At that point she was usually full, and would leave the meat of the animal for the wolfoids who liked it better. The wolfoids were a bit shocked by her eating habits, but left her alone, since she was so beneficial to the pack. Mama was proud to be Jeany's adoptive mother. The other wolfoids would often express their gratitude to her, for taking Jeany in instead of eating her. At the same time, however, Mama was worried for her. Even amongst animals, it was clear that Jeany wasn't very smart. The adults in the pack took advantage of her abilities, and Jeany didn't realize it. TeenJeany becomes a fully accepted member of the pack. Her life was uneventful, and centered around hunting, eating, and playing. Then, one day Conrad appeared to take her to Gaia. The exact details from this point on will have to be roleplayed out. Jean Mollie and Mama are taken to Gaia. The two are very, very confused, since they can't understand English and have never seen anything remotely like a human before, other than Jeany herself. The Fa'e will have to find some way to calm her down and make her understand what's happening. Someone will have to help her pick a name. A book of baby names will be presented to her, and she will attempt to eat it. Her tooth makes a hole in a page, right below 'Jean' on one side and 'Mollie' on the other. Someone will also have to cut her hair and force her into some clothes. Jeany and Mama will probably make themselves at home in the forest behind Fa'e HQ. They are perfectly capable of taking care of themselves in the wild. When Jeany gets used to the Fa'e, she starts to wonder why they all stand on two legs, and talk with their voices and not their bodies. She starts imitating the way they make noises, and tries balancing on two feet. She's very bad at it. Jeany also starts making friends with stray dogs in the neighborhood. They don't understand wolfoid dance language, but the basic body language is similar. She starts taking them on hunts with her. YouthJeany finally gets used to talking, although her English is far from perfect. She will probably make friends with some of the Fa'e. At this point in her life, she'll start getting back her memories. She'll start to understand what she used to be, but doesn't know yet how she died. Since her past life was actually very mundane, the knowledge that she's been reincarnated doesn't affect her much. Her behavior starts leaning more and more towards being human, but she also becomes more comfortable with the things that make her a chupacabra. She doesn't back down from the gorey, disgusting habits she's always had, even though she knows that people don't like them. She usually remembers to warn people before she does something gross. AdultJeany remembers the circumstances of her death. When she died, her puppies weren't yet old enough to fend for themselves, and the other chupacabras may have eaten them. She panics, and starts looking for ways to return to the chupacabras and save them. She fails to realize that the puppies are probably long gone by this point, and that they exist in an entirely different world from where she is now. Human?Jeany eventually gives up on finding her puppies. Jeany is not unfamiliar with death- she eats dead things all the time. She comes to accept that sometimes puppies don't make it. She decides that she wants to have children in her new life. She will probably not settle down with a permanent mate, considering her looks and intelligence level. She will most likely have multiple children by multiple fathers. She will also start adopting more stray dogs, treating them like children as well. Ancient?Jeany finds the descendants of her old chupacabra pack. This is going to require a lot of help, especially since she'd have to get back to Earth somehow. Amongst the chupacabras, Jeany is now at an incredible advantage, because of her relative intelligence and power. Her hivemind ability surfaces, and she is easily able to make herself the leader of the chupacabra pack. She returns to Gaia with them, and the chupacabras mingle with Mama and the stray dogs, creating a very mixed pack. She continues to socialize with the Fa'e. Constructive Criticism by TULIP!
This is a really really unusual and cool idea. I like that you've taken alot of her psychological traits into consideration as deeply as you did. And I spent a good bit of time surfing around that feral children site...fascinating stuff.
As far as what path you want her to take, I would say that it sounds like you want her to begin as a normal baby and then as she begins to remember her past life revert to her feral self. I'm a sucker for happy endings, so naturally I think that after a great deal of trials (she wants to be like everyone else I'm sure, seriously now; who wants to be the hairy quadriped who can't speak) I think she will manage to overcome her past life and live a full life this time around. I also think that it's really neat that you want to play a Fae with such difficulties, it'll be a challange I'm sure.
My main concern is why is she coming back in this life? Does she have a revenge thing from being abused in her last life, does she just need some human love and companionship? That's something that I think you should expound on a little more.
All and all a very fascinating concept, Good Luck!! heart

caffinated_tulip My main concern is why is she coming back in this life? Does she have a revenge thing from being abused in her last life, does she just need some human love and companionship? That's something that I think you should expound on a little more. Aha! Knew I was missing something. I'm gonna mull that one over. I don't think the Wolf Girl had any unfinished business to settle. As far as I can tell, wolves don't hold grudges or set long-term goals for themselves. She lived a simple(ish) life and probably died a simple death. So far I've just been thinking she died because she died. Like maybe a tree fell on her in a storm or something insignificant like that. Maybe I could play up her intelligent inner self. Maybe, because she never got to truly live and see the world beyond her little wolf pack in Texas, her soul was insanely curious about what was out there. Maybe as a dead spirit she could think and experience things more clearly and got a glimpse of the vast intellectual universe she never had the chance to see. Thus, she'd will herself into rebirth or something? In the physical world she probably solves problems by sheer force of will (headbutting doors to make them open, etc.) so maybe her soul was strong enough to come back to life. If I take that route she'd probably wind up learning to speak and do smart-people-things because her purpose in her new life is to learn. I could also possibly switch out the learning thing for a love thing, but her wolf family probably loved her in their own way. *ponder ponder*

Yuumei Tenshi Unfortunately for me, it turns out that I can't post in the fa'e questers guild because I forgot that I'm not part of that guild. ^^; So, I hope you don't mind that I PM you reguarding your concept. (I'm a sucker for art. xd But I'm glad that tonight, I don't have to worry about homework - at least for a day or two. So it's good to finally get a chance to read up on some new concepts!) Anyway - wow, Megarose! I have to say, your concept is interesting. Your interest in feral children and animals shows in your concept and I have to say it's very unique and fresh. I think it's pretty cool. biggrin And I'm not just saying that because I have a thing for vampires and were/wolves, especially when they're outliers to the norm. Wolves are one of the animals I've always were curious about. I'm also glad you're honest about why you want a fa'e, hehe. Though I think that in time, it'll be like a real child to you. (Right now, I feel like the most horrible mother in Gaia. ._. My poor Rei...) However, there are a few things I am concerned about. As the fa'e community grew more and more, more myths used as the past lives of fa'e were being used, thus why no more original myths are allowed. Honestly, I'm not too sure if urban legends are allowed - I haven't been too active in the fa'e community as of late, so I can't confirm that. But please try to find out if that's okay. How will Jean Mollie communicate with other fa'e? Just curiosity there. An important thing about a fa'e is that once they reach their teen or youth stage, they must think about what path they want to head on: the human path, or ancient path. Thing is, the way I interpretted it, what you have put down about Jean Mollie is what she will be like as a fa'e. Her past doesn't seem to be... I don't know how to word it. It just sounds too similar to her fa'e life, just without the wolves. But if she were to take the Ancient path, what would she be going back to? Back to a feral child again? I don't know how this would work. And how did she die? Why is she getting a second chance? - Vital question right there. I should know this, as it was my biggest contribution to the fa'e community. Before I acted upon Anya's comment on the possibility of Rei being a reaper of sorts in her toddler/kid stage, and made a massive teen quest, the fa'e were basically just mystical creatures being born. ^_^ ... Sorry if I sound vain. ._.; *crawls into a corner*Is there any specific reason why Jean Mollie can't be a lost child and just reborn as a second-generation fa'e? I don't know if it would be a justifiable idea, but perhaps your fa'e could have a past of another myth pertaining to wolves and be reborn as a feral child that ends up being raised and acting like a wolf. My impression of Jean Mollie is that she might not end up going on the human path, so to make the Ancient path clearer, you could work with that possible idea. I don't know if you like it or not. sweatdrop But that's something vital to the fa'e kind and important to figure out. I hope that I have helped in some way. I don't often critique heavily, because sometimes I just feel like I don't know what I'm doing or saying. sweatdrop Good luck! heart Yuumei

Hey,
Definitely original! ^^ I like the theory and you certainly know what you are talking about.
I have similar concerns as Yuumei so I'll just put my ten pence in. heart
Obviously a big part of RP is being able to interact with other people's characters otherwise things can get difficult and people can be put off from RP-ing with your character. Maybe you could slip some slightly more companionable traits in to make it easier for her to make friends and socialise.
I had to do a similar thing to my Fae concept, it's not too hard to do without comprimising your character ^__^
Also layout ... have you thought about sectioning profiles up under headings to make it easier to read. I think huge blocks of text can put some people off.
Maybe putting Jean Mollie's information above her guardians with the pictures to get people's attention?

Neith-Kia Wee! Finally got to read through it! ^_^ I have no idea how to do constructive crit properly so...yea. But trust me when I say Kia likes her. She's confused by her... and might try to groom her... but she likes her. Tiegan (Kia's human daughter) LOVES her and wants her to come play. xd ! But anyway! Firstly I think you should separate it out, one for if she was a second gen, and one if she was going to be entered for the contest coming up... plus maybe a generalized one. It'll be easier for people to distinguish between the two, if that makes sense? ^_^ She might not be able to be a second gen fa'e, but she might be a good entry for the lost children concept thingie... so yea, may as well prepare for both! biggrin And from what I understand, hair grows on those malnourished as a sort of famine thing. They loose teh ability to regulate body heat and the extra hair is supposed to be a way of helping them keep warm. Her walking on all fours would be interesting too, I could see her using knuckles but remember... the fingers are really sensitive, but the palm has the ability to devolop a tough layer of skin like the soles of feet do. So maybe she might end up also using the palms and the fronts of her feet, holding her fingers and toes off teh ground? But I can definatly see why knuckles would work too. I think she could communicate with animals, or at least have a strong empathy towards them. No fa'e can say 'I can sense animal emotions' yet, I think? But don't forget that she'd be a fa'e! While that doesn't automatically mean Mary Sue, and she'll still have as many weaknesses as anyone else, it does mean that she will have several things that just aren't normal... like, Yani is blind but is able to 'see' through animals, if they're willing. (Why he always has a bird with him.) So it's expected that she can...well, I don't know. Maybe she could eventually have a limited shapeshift ability into a canine species (but restricted in some way, like... only canine breeds she's had prolonged exposure to in her fa'e life, only for brief periods depending on how long the exposure's been?), or communicate with animals, or like I said before, have a very sensitive empathy towards canines... And perhaps heightened sense to the level of a wolf wouldn't be too mary sueish, again, as long as she has some sort of restriction or disadvantage. ^_^ She was raised by them in her past life. Perhaps she could have taken in something of her old wolves. Mother Instinct. Well, did you hear about hte girl who was raised by dogs? ...and no, that's not the opening line to some joke. xd There WAS a girl raised by her family's dogs and it wasn’t a maternal instinct. Quite incredible too... her parents were drunkards with a lot of kids and one day when she was about three, they forgot her and locked her outside. So she crawled into the kennels with the dogs and the dogs straight away started to provide for her. Hunted for her, kept her warm, taught her, shared food with her, right up till she was eight years old. http://www.theage.com.au/news/world/the-girl-who-ran-with-the-pack/2006/07/18/1153166383022.html What I wonder is if she could be not the only one. There has to be hundreds of local stories or folklore about children raised by animals (The Jungle Boy! ^_^) all over the world. Perhaps you could create her backstory along those lines as well... expand on the urban myth you're already aware of. Were they really just normal wolves, or were these wolves themselves evolved in some way? Is it not just them but small groups of animals all over the world with an evolution in some area? Or perhaps it's her that had some sort of new sense develop or was born with her... Could be a great story behind that! So many children adopted by animals but why? Was it encouraged in some societies? Some sort of mystical thing going on? Or just a plain case of evolution/devolution? Oooh. I love this concept because it has so much potential and is so different. whee I'd say keep an eye on Silver's concept but seriously, he seems to have tried everything in his backstory and has every ability ever known to wolfkind/mankind. @_@ So do keep an eye on it... but don't be too worried unless there's something that's near identical, he's a league of his own. He's what you don't want her to become. XD
