User ImageCharacter Name: Tu Jin
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Place of Birth: Earth Kingdom
Occupation: Merchant selling various things ranging from jewelry to rocks (seriously).

Appearence: Almost everything about Tu Jin is for a reason, and her appearence is no exception. The pigtails she wears her hair in may be considered rather childish. Like her mother, said hair is black, her eyes are a dark green and she has very pale skin.

As is traditional with those in the Earth Kingdom, her clothes are a variety of greens, with bits of yellow here and there. She has bandages wrapped around her hands and they're shielded in a pair of thick gloves. Around one of her ankles is a bracelet of poor quality.

Background: Although it may surprise some, it is true Tu Jin was raised in low class. Her mother is certainly one of the most talented earthbenders breathing, proved by her constant displays of power and the fact she taught the Avatar. But Sen Wei's standards for taking in students are very, very high, and with so few students and teaching being the main income of the family, money was in short supply.

Personality: Tu Jin tries very hard to remain serious and calm in all situations, and dedicate herself to becoming stronger and her work to both imitate and please her mother, but she fails miserablely.

Although she may be able to play the act off once in a while, it's not hard to trigger her true self. One that is prone to emotional outbursts, yelling, and saying the first thing that comes to mind with a mist of arrogance around her.

Her confidence in her abilities as a fighter are there, no matter how she's acting. However, in other ways of life, such as friendship, confidence is seriously lacking. Some blame her upbringing (aka her mother) for the fact the teenager seems to shy away from people when they start becoming more than just a casual aquaintance.

Quote:
Unable to Bend:Why Tu Jin is unable to bend is unknown. The situation is particularly strange because her mother is an extremely talented bender, and her father is reportedly a bender as well. It's believed either her father in fact was not a bender, or the girl simply lacks a natural talent. Nothing has been confirmed yet, however, except for the obvious, which is that she just can't.

Quote:
Uses Axes:It didn't settle well with Sen Wei her daughter was unable to bend. Tu Jin attempted to convince her that she could become powerful another way, first suggesting weapons classes, but it did no good. Sen Wei refused to even purchase a weapon for the girl. However, they did have an axe used for cutting firewood. Tu Jin merely began her training with what she could get, and became attached.

Quote:
Wears Bandages/Gloves Around Wrists/Hands: Almost constantly grasping the handle of an axe in her waking hours can do more damage than one would think. Both her hands and wrists were often injured. However, sturdy bandages and thick gloves often prevented this.

Quote:
Became a Merchant: At the age of 12, Tu Jin found out her mother would be teaching the Avatar. In yet another attempt to win Sen Wei over, Tu Jin took what little possessions into the city she had and sold them so she could buy a 'congratulations' gift. She found she was extremely good at convincing people they needed what they really didn't. Later, this became a hobby, and eventually a way to support herself.

Quote:
Has a Bracelet on Her Ankle: Actually, this is for two reasons:

1. The gift she bought her mother, mentioned in why she became a merchant, was the bracelet. When offered to her, Sen Wei refused to take it, thus it was kept in Tu Jin's posession.

2. Tu Jin has a very bad habbit of tapping her foot. She does it before entering a foot, when nervous, bored, or when thinking something over very intensely. It's an absent habbit, so in an attempt to break it, she placed the bracelet on her ankle, which clanks loudly together every time she moves her foot. So far, being aware of the motion hasn't helped to prevent it.

Quote:
Wears Pigtals: Until age 10, Tu Jin's hair was kept in her face and on her shoulders. One day while training, she tripped, fell on her axes and luckily nothing more than a large cut on her side was the result.

Much to her distress, her mother seemed to care very little. However, at the end of the day she casually began fiddling with her hair, eventually tying it into pigtails and commenting, "If you keep it out of your face, that won't happen again."

Tu Jin took it as the first display of affection she'd received since it was discovered she lacked the bending ability. Since then, she's kept it that way partially out of habbit, but mostly as a symbol to show how devoted she is to gaining more affection and approval from Sen Wei.

Quote:
Takes an Extreme Interest in Potential Students: Aside from the Avatar, who's classes were extremely private, Sen Wei has taught no benders that don't start out knowing well what they're doing in Tu Jin's life time.

She often sees her mother reject benders of low ability, or who lack controlled ability. Just as often, she tries to convince Sen Wei to give them a chance. It may seem like a selfless act, but in reality she wishes to make her mother teach multiple beginners so she can observe the amateur moves of earthbending and hopefully, over time, figure out how to bend herself.

Sen Wei: Mentioned so many times prior here, and usually one of the main topics of casual talk or gossip among the citizens of her village, Sen Wei is, in a fact that surprises many, Tu Jin's mother. She's a very harsh woman. So much so she bluntly claims (along with anything else) to be ashamed of her daughter due to her lack of bending ability.

Master Rauzten

Ehh? What's he doing here...?

User Image
Master Sasha

The two met through Sen Wei, who became friends with Sasha during a meeting concerning the Avatar. She often tells Tu Jin she shouldn't care what her mother thinks, and that family doesn't always have to approve of each other. But despite that, she'll often compliment or point out acheivements of Tu Jin's when in Sen Wei's company, and the teenager thanks her silently for it.

Tsai Shen:

As of now, she's had no contact with the boy herself. She has, however, observed him following her mother around and trying to convince her to be his bending teacher. Tu Jin's opinion of him seems to be she wants Sen Wei to teach him and nothing more than that.

It's complicated...

Makoda:

Just the mention of Makoda makes her furious. The one encounter she had with him left her temper flaring and her desire for Sasha to beat the living crap out him almost as stronger than ever.

Quote:
Baby: Not too much to say. Tu Jin was a pretty normal baby.

Quote:
Toddler: Taking into account her speech and movement skills developed at a faster rate than most, Sen Wei had high hopes for her daughter to follow her in her footsteps.

Quote:
Child: The crucial point in Tu Jin's life. It was at the tender age of 7-years-old Sen Wei first tried to teach her bending. It failed. Dissapointed, but thinking her daughter was simply too young, Sen Wei tried again at age 8 then at 9. By 10, they had figured it out...

Quote:
Teenager: Having developed skills as a merchant, Tu Jin left home at only 14. She lived in various places, with various people, and currently seems to aimlessly wander from place to place.
