That in the episode "Appa's Lost Days" when Appa pulled out the Boar-Q-Pine quill there was a tiny "squirt" of blood? o.o I, for one, was extremely suprised.

Y'know, now that you mention it, that does seem surprising especially with all the regulations they've put into TV recently. I've seen some anime even edit out a scrapped knee.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. Good to see that they didn't shy away from the blood. They probably figured that there's already alot of violence, what would be so bad about showing blood every once in a while? To me, it shows kids the consiquences of these actions, so they are less likely to repeat it. But that's just me.

I haven't seen the episode yet, but I'm not surprised. Avatar can get pretty deep for a kid's show (the death of Iroh's son, all the political/war issues, Zuko's injury at the hands of his father, Azula's downright psychosis) and a little blood never hurt anyone. We all bleed, after all.

Hoo! Hoo! Watch out!Showing blood would just ruin the surprise that programmers and responsible parents have in store for their children: Sometimes people bleed when they're injured. It's much more rewarding to watch the horrified look on a child's face when their wound begins to secrete red liquid, and to listen to their angelic voices as they totally freak out.
Responsible parents shield reality and the world from their children so that they're shocked and horrified when innevitably confronted by it.*le gasp* "Did you hear something?" "I think I heard something" *dramatic pause* "What was that?" The wind! *mysterious* 地蔵菩薩

Oh lordie, I think I'm leaving an impact on Ava! ^^;;; No, seriously.... I didn't see it.... -To YOUTUBE!!!- But that's sweet. We gotta' show these kids that shizznit happens in life. Blood isn't groteasque, anyways. It's a natural part of our body made up of living things, blood cells. RIGHT?

I didn't notice. Avatar doesn't like to show any blood for some reason, not even a less-than-reasonable amount. But it's no big deal. Even Kids Next Door shows blood.
