Because of something Wickedelphie said in another thread, i was reminded that there is a play that I didn't like but I love the movie. I love the movie Camelot. but I saw a national tour of the play and left during the intermission. I honestly believe I don't like the play, but i like the movie. There's only one other play where that's true: Driving Miss Daisy. I thoiught it was an absolutely boring play, but the movie is excellent.
Are WickedElphie and I the only ones who have this problem or are there others in the Company who have felt this way about movies and plays?.

I LOVE the movie "Grease." In fact, it's my favorite movie musical. But I saw it on stage...and it was one of the worst plays I have ever seen.
So, let's recap. Grease = GREAT MOVIE, LOUSY PLAY.

Grease = GREAT MOVIE, LOUSY PLAY. I completely agree. I haven't seen it professionally done, but the movie was just so great that it seems it can't compare.

Stand and Deliver... while still a boring movie.. it's ok. But the play... is worse. Our scene changes consisted of turning this thing to make it look like the seasons were changing. So basically... we went crazy on stage from boredum.. we couldn't even watch it becuase the set blocked our view of the stage.

Grease is a great movie but a crap play...even to preform i was Jan and i hated everyminute of it...except the singing...so yea
another one i didn't real like on stage was the Crucible, the movie is really good but i must say when done on stage it seems an awfully lot longer and less impacting...

I tend to disagree with you on the Crucible aspect. I've seen a really kick a** production of it. I'm not just talking pretty good, I mean wow. F**kin' Fierce! Perhaps part of what made it so well-done was the fact that it didn't have a set time period. Some costumes were like what you might traditionally see in The Crucible, some were '60's oriented, some were modern day street clothes, a couple (the judges i think?) were futuristic. It was amazing, and the impact was as moving as it could ever be.

I hate the play Grease. I had to be in it and we watched the movie so many fricken times in one month that I now hate the movie and would rather poke my eyes out themn watch it again. One movie that I though was okay was Sound of Music, but then I saw it on stage (I'm in it as well) and now I don't like the movie near as much. They cut out some rocking songs for time, and changed lines cutting charcters that I love. Stupid censhorship... xp
