I live in Colorado. After hurricane Katrina, alot of blacks from New Orleans moved up here and now go to my school. I walk into classrooms of teachers I'm cool with and sit down and talk to them. They tell me that they have students who are 15 and haven't been to school - ever. They tell me that they have 16 years old that still can't read. There is a boy that's my friend - he's 18, but he is in 11th grade (and I'm a senior). Are you kidding me? What the hell are you teaching (or lack of) to those kids? This isn't only in the black schools, I had a friend from Monroe, Lousiana who was put in finite math for 2 years straight in highschool cause they didn't teach her anything down there.
What can be done about these horrendus school systems? Not everyone can afford to go to private school. Apparently property tax money isn't doing enough /snort. Quite frankly, it pisses me cause nothing is being done, and we have a government that doesn't care. Oh sure, there is the no child left behind, but what good is that doing?
Anyways.
Discuss;
-Louisianna school system
-Would if be fair to blame it all on the government
-Anything else you can think of cause I'm sleeeeepy!
