I saw the Pre-Broadway production of High Fidelity last night, and it was absolutely amazing. The cast, the set, the music...When I saw RENT over the summer, I know that Christopher J. Hanke had just recently replaced Matt Caplan as Mark. Now Matt plays a great Guy With Mohawk in High Fidelity. Best of luck to him and everyone else involved in HF heading to Bway.
Did anyone see Matt in RENT? What did you think?

i saw matt caplan as mark twice! he was pretty funny, but sometimes too funny... like he was funny (of trying) in songs like halloween, which probably shouldnt be funny... but i guess thats his take on the character... plus, hes pretty nice in person.... he called my sister darling...

I saw him in one of his last shows in RENT... I did not like him at all.
I found his voice lacking, and the fact that he tried to make every line in the show a huge JOKE took away from the overall theatrical genious of the show. He pretty much ruined Tango: Maureen.
I would have been so dissapointed with my first show if it wasn't for TIM HOWAR. <3

I thought he was good in High Fidelity, and if you couldn't tell much about his acting from that part, you could tell he had a great voice. But...I couldn't really imagine him in RENT. Ah well. I'm glad I saw Christopher ninja

Aw...High Fidelity closes Dec. 17th after 14 performances on Broadway. It's sad that it didn't even get a chance in NYC.

I actually heard High Fidelity was crap... "utterly forgettable" as the article put it...
I don't know much about the actor you mentioned or the musical... just what I heard.

I thought HF was going to close on the 17th, which would be today. [Since it's after midnight on the east coast.]

Kristine Urich-DeLuca I thought HF was going to close on the 17th, which would be today. [Since it's after midnight on the east coast.] Ah! Sorry, you thought correct. I was thinking "14 performances" and attempting to type "Dec. 17." Appearently it didn't work out.
Thanks for the correction.

thelovelyLIZ I actually heard High Fidelity was crap... "utterly forgettable" as the article put it... I don't know much about the actor you mentioned or the musical... just what I heard. That's pretty much how all of the reviewers put it, although some wrote a bit more...open-minded and maturely than others. It was most definately not one of the most forgettable musicals out there.
And while all the reviewers gave the show fairly mediocre reviews, I have yet to here an audience member to say they didn't enjoy the show.
And honestly, had the show been completely horrid, I would have gone anyway just to see the spectacular set. At least the critics agreed with me there.
You can't always trust critics for your opinion. There are plenty of extremely popular and great shows out there that were PANNED when they opened.

Thanks for the correction. It's ok, we all make mistakes. (:
And sorry if I sounded "matter-of-fact-ly," I was just wondering if what I had read was right...
