"There, there, hang on a second, I have to wipe it off!" D chattered, reaching over the arm of the chair to pick up a soggy chew toy.
It was covered in baby drool, and the man wasn't too keen on letting his fiesty son have it back. He didn't want Faolan eating dirt and dust, even though he doubted the child would be made sick. Germs were good for children to catch, as it would only help strengthen the immunse system. Regardless of the fact, D took out a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped down the toy.
It was amazing how strong his sons teeth were.
For being a baby, the little fangs in his mouth were awfully sharp! Even the nails on his hands were able to leave red marks down D's exposed skin, and often snagged the fabric of his clothes. Sure, the pink haired man had expected to have trouble with a baby, but . . then again. . he'd never once imagined a baby with claws and fangs!
"Here, here - no scratching! I know you want it back but you can't always scratch," D gently admonished his son. He doubted his words were recognized, and reallly didn't want his child to start crying.
When Faolan decided to cry, the entire neighborhood would hear his shrieks and howls. The man was surprised Animal or Child Services hadn't come knocking on his door. As it was, D wanted to keep his son a happy child at such a small age. Thankfully, it wasn't particularly difficult to do.
For the most part, Faolan was a quiet baby, even if his patience ran a bit thin.
Toy! Toy, toy, toy - mine, mine, MINE! Faolan reached out plaintively, hands trying to pull his favored chew toy back. He hadn't finished with his bone, and really hadn't wanted to give it up. Yes, D was special and had the right to remove the bone - animal instinct and body language told him that. But that didn't mean Faolan had to be happy about having his toy taken away. That didn't mean he couldn't try to get it back.
"Blarghb-bit!" He exclaimed, tail wagging in uncertainty as his hands finally snagged at the toy. Putting the toy to his mouth, Faolan resumed the chewing, golden eyes looking up patiently at D.
There. Life was good now. Chewing felt nice on his teeth.
D couldn't help but smile. "If you like it so much, then why do you throw it away?" Ah, the joys of children.
It was still an adjustment, having to deal with a real baby. Thankfully, his work was a good place to be, and they'd let him off for a few months with pay. That would give him time to raise his son and get him more involved with other children and babies his age.

Feeling a bit like a stalker Rouge Remika walked into the GOTP HQ once again. Though today it seemed generally desserted save for a man and his claw and tattoo bearing baby. And it was quite a cute little baby, chew toy, drool and all.
The woman, wool cap covered head somewhat hanging waved sleepily to the two. "Allo." she said.

D looked over at the woman who entered, offering an easy smile her way. He didn't recognize her, but then again, D didn't really know a whole lot of other Guardians and their children. Wand weilders or not, there was still no harm in being friendly.
"Afternoon," he greeted amicably, pleased that they weren't the only ones seeking refuge at Headquarters. He fell quiet for a moment, not sure if she press conversation or let her on her way. There wasn't anyone else in the room, save Faolan and himself, but the woman could be on a mission to the gardens or library or something of that nature.
D decided to let the woman alone, no need to harass her.
Faolan, on the other hand, had other ideas. The tribal-marked child, still gnawing frantically on his multi-coloured chew toy, decided that fetch was indeed a fun game. For the umpteenth time, despite being happily content with it in his jaws, the wolf child threw the red and green toy away.
This time, though, he didn't just drop it to the ground, oh no! Clawed hands firmly grasping the toy, with an excited gurgle, the pup child hurled the toy with as much force as a baby could handle. It didn't go exceptionally far, but it certainly was out of D's immediate reach.
Of course, Faolan realized that his toy was not with him. As fun as fetch was to play, it meant that his toy was taken away, which made for one unhappy baby. Ears going back, eyes starting to water, the smallest and most pathetic of whimpers began to grow in the childs throat.
D could only stare as the toy was thrown. Again. "Beware of flying objects," he warned the woman, shifting Faolan in his arms and pushing himself to his feet. Back and forth, back and forth - all day, every day.
But what else could be done? He had to keep his boy happy. "He doesn't seem to remember that throwing his toys away leave him without."

"Maybe he likes to play fetch?" Rouge suggested, kneeling down to pick up the drool covered toy. "He'll learn in time. Would you like a hand?" she asked, offering the slobbery object to the baby. Such a cute little one.
"I haven't got any pressing business to attend to so far as I know. I came here to just chill out and see if anyone was around." for some reason she automatically extended a hand out to tickle Faolan behind his ears. Gawd if her shipmates saw how she acted here they'd laugh her out of her job as captain.

D grinned thankfully at Rouge, flopping back in his chair as the woman scooped up the toy. Good thing she wasn't scared off by a little slobber!
"I think he suffers from a love-hate relationship with the game," D chatted amiably, blue eyes bright as he watched his son reach out frantically for the offered toy.
The wolf boy looked from Rouge, to the toy, then back again before making an opinion. She brought him offerings of fun things to play with and chew on, so that made her right and good. For now. Clawed hands instantly grabbed at the toy, yanking it back and quickly latching onto the item with his teeth.
Now everyting was good.
The little wolf made a baby gurgle, lips curving into a delighted grin as his ears were scratched. Now that was good too~! "Aruuuk!" Came the mumbled chatter of the baby, eyes staring up curiously as Rouge.
She was different, not at all like him, not at all like D or Cheylir. Different but, since she brought him things to chew on, she was good. And that was all that mattered.
Well, Faolan was certainly behaving well. Wonderful~! That was his boy - being friendly and . . .charming, in a nail-and-fang sort of way. Grabbing the baby rag that sat on the arm of the chair, D wiped away some excess drool that was hanging uncerimoniously down Faolan's chin.
"It's been pretty quiet this afternoon - you're the first one who's arrived since I've been here." Oh, right, manners. It would probably do he introduced himself! "Ah, er - I'm D and this here is Faolan."
The statement (to D) felt random and out of place, but there was no taking it back now. No real way to seguey into an introduction so, it would just have to do. "I'd offer you a hand, but, uh . . . " What could he do? His hands were full of wolf-baby.

"Its perfectly all right." she told D, smiling. "And I'm Rouge."
Sitting down on her haunches she took in the baby's-and D's- appearance. Both seemed pleasant enough but she was curious about the baby. Being rather unfamiliar with the species she decided to ask. "So, what is Faolan? Besides a baby. I was told that the wand children-which I'm guessing he is-are of different races?"

D nodded at Rouge's words, grinning a bit with fatherly pride. He got to talk about his son~! And unlike his mini-freak out with Sara and Too-ya, he actually had a physical baby and not just a wisp. Not, of course, that he'd loved his son any less - but without knowing what gender, without knowing what he looked like or sounded like besides a dusty puff of smoke. . . the conversation and pride had been a bit different.
"You guessed right, though I suppose his wand is a bit of a dead giveaway." D gesuted with his chin at the little wand resting besides his boy. The wand lookd more like a rattle, but it still had the pale orb, and the fur lining and the little wolf-fang dangling delicately around it. Probably not baby safe, but Faolan fussed and screamed if he tried to disengage anything from the "toy".
"I haven't met too many of the other children myself. One of them is a thunderbird, and then there was a girl who spoke in tongues, and another with wings." D squinted, taking just a moment to see if he could come up with exactly what they were.
He still hadn't a clue.
"But Faolan here is a werewolf!" The pride the resonated from his words were obvious, but D had no shame. "Really, though, he doesn't act very much like a wolf. Sometimes his ears go back and his tail wags from time to time, but I'd say the one thing that really stands out is when he cries. This little guy was blessed with a set of lungs, let me tell you!"
Faolan, of course, knew that he was being admired and talked about. Still chewing fiercly on his toy, he made a few baby noises. They sounded more like growls and grunts, but his mouth was full so one couldn't expect a lot more than that.
Golden eyes bright, the tattooed face boy kept his eyes solely on Rouge. She was new, but she wasn't afraid. A curious sort, really. But maybe she'd get him more chew things!

Rouge grinned broadly. "Well he's certainly adorable. My friend keeps a pet wolf where we live and it is most definately not half as cute as Faolan is." the woman was more than happy to dote on the little baby, grinning broadly. Children made her very happy indeed.
"He seems to fancy his chewtoy a lot." she laughed. "If you're not careful you may have to get him another because he'll chew this one to shreds." She laughed.

((SOOO sorry about the delay. =_=; Could have sworn I replied to this earlier but I guess not.))
D couldn't help but bloom underneath such praise. The more compliments Faolan recieved, the more the man's pride in his son showed. Faolan was absolutely adorable! Much more than a real wolf would be. But who could compare? One was an animal, the other a human. Ish. "He is rather adorable, isn't he?" D agreed, turning his blue eyes down from Rouge to study his son.
Faolan understood he was being fussed over. Sort of. The mumble-jumble that came out of D and Rogue's lips was just that - jibberish, but the baby was pleased nonetheless. Toy still shoved in his mouth Faolan gave an attempt to multitask. Eating his toy, he tried to respond to the chit-chat by mumbling incoherantly something akin to a growl and choke.
The result?
Baby drool.
How cute. Exept not really.
Ears pushed forward, the little lycan boy kept his gold eyes up on Rogue before his lips turned into a crooked, drool-covered smile! Sure, it was half-hidden by his chew toy, but that didn't matter. She was smiling so shouldn't he?
D was immensely pleased with how his son was slowly warmig up to Rogue. He'd never had a chance to truly interract with another besides Cheylir and himself. Thus far, the results were good. He was still much more interested in his chew toy but that was besides the point.
Reaching over the arm of the chair, the man fished for the spit blanket. After a few hours with an awake Faolan, he'd learned to keep it on hand! Reaching up, he swiftly wiped away most of the excess drool. The wolf boy's face wrinkled up in distaste, and he pulled away with a disapproving growl, but at least the majority of the spittle was removed.
"You can't get the toy away from him - he's about as protective of it as he is his wand and plushie! I'm going to have to start giving him an actual bone if this keeps up," D teased. "It may last longer than fabric."

Rouge giggled a little at the baby. "Quite." Baby's were much cuter then animals anyway. Though baby animals were still rather cute.
When Faolan smiled at her she grinned widely, petting him behind his ears once more. The baby definately was something she'd coo over if it weren't a little bit beneath her. "He's definately friendly so far as I can see."
"Well he's a little one. They teeth. I just wonder what he'll chew on when he's older. If he can chew through a fabric toy as a baby, think of what he'd chew on when he gets bigger. I don't think it'll be easy to ween him off of things to chew on for some time." the woman was a bit thoughtful as she spoke.
