This is a small room resembling a study, with a desk, comfortable chairs, and walls of books on mythology, astrology, and magic. In the center of the room, surrounded by the comfortable chairs, sits a small table with a rounded top that isn't meant to hold anything. The table itself seems to be made of pearl and crystal, and twinkles with stars. The surface of the table acts as a scrying glass, a Seer's Scale.

Only the man who calls himself Soran knows how to get to this room, and only with his permission may anyone else enter.

Teleporting from the dorm to this new location was a breath-taking experience. When they appeared in the room, the man who called himself Soran was holding Alex in his arms, though he gracefully released her from the strange hug a moment later without making note of it. The room was medium-sized, though it may have appeared small due to all of the stuff within it. It was definetly cozy, and had a strange air about it, one that was perhaps Alien to the young Astra. Safety. Whatever this room was, with it's lamp-lit desk off to the side, and the chairs and couches, all looking comfortable, circling the mysterious table that nothing could be set on, and all of the books on just the right subjects, this room was obviously a safe-haven.

The man stood politely to the side, waiting for her to adjust to her new surroundings, waiting to answer her questions.

Alex was surprised when Soran took her in his arms, and once his arms locked, she felt a great high, a rush of feeling causing her to see colors and get dizzy. She couldn't tell the feeling was from the warmth or Soran's touch, or from the sudden transportation spell that was just cast, taking Alex into a new room entirely. When Soran let her go, she almost collapsed at the rush that flew through her head, almost dropped her book to which she had clung to so tightly.

When she could finally see once more, she caugh her balance on a plushed chair and looked around. She gasped at the amount of books and literature that resided in this room. "Oh my lord! Where is this place?" she sighed as she wonderously walked through the room, it was slightly familiar, but the feeling that eminated from it...made her feel safe.

"This room...ive seen it before...Oh! The book!" she quickly opened the book and flipped through the runed pages, finding a picture of the very room. She smiled. "It makes sense!" she gasped. Then the picture seemed to chang in her very sight. There in the newly formed picture of the room, stood Soran standing before her and her...leaning against a plushed chair. She cried out in surprise.
,
"My gosh!" SHe looked up at Soran...wonder in her face. "This is amazing! for one ive never felt this safe in my life...but still ive...ive got to know where Jack is...and who you are. It is a little awkward not knowing you...how should i say this...are or were. You know I am Alex...and Astra...now you are Soran and...?"

"Patience, Princess," Soran mumurred in his quiet, serious voice, but his eyes glittered with a knowing sparkle from something he had just said. "I will answer all of your questions." He stepped past her, his hand lightly brushing her shoulder, as if he had to keep reminding himself that she was there by touching her. He approached the desk, sorting delicately through some of the scrolls about it. "We are in Su'barra, The Haven, the only place in the world that your demon friends cannot go. The only safe place. I know you only as Astra, originally one of two, but now, unfortunately," his voice grew sad and deep with emotion, "the only one."

Alex's heart flared at Soran's uttering the word Princess, if she wasn't so distracted by his heavenly beauty she would have tried to figure out how that seemed familiar, except, she placed it on the book aswell.

"I will answer all of your questions" he said, and he walked past her, and at the slightest brush of his shoulder, Alex felt herself grow weak. What is this feeling? she wondered. She turned to him, faced the desk, and stared at him innocently, wonderingly, the expression on her face giving her the look of a child, or china doll. He explained that they were in a place...subora or somthing, the name she didn't quite catch, and she nodded.

"Oh.."she breathed softly. When he said he didn't know her as anything but Astra...she was...a little diapointed some how. "Well." She stepped closer to him and held out her hand, almost weakly as she stared into his eyes. "Then I am Alexandria Brook...though many call me Alex..." she said, her eyes never leaving his. She wanted to test this, this warm feeling she got from his touch, this almost high off of the feeling. She wanted him to take her hand and let her feel it again, she didn't care if she practicaly passed out from the dizzyness.

The man turned from the desk as she approached, and watched her with the usual interest he placed on all her actions, but shook his head when she offered him her hand and name. "Your name is an earthly thing, as are your enemies. They use your name as a trap, a thing to bind you to the world, as they did the other Astra. You are the Astra. The last. Your earthly name makes you too easy to track, and too hard to protect."

Alex couldn't help but be disapointed, the feeling she so gravly antisipated...she wouldn't get.

"Your name is an earthly thing, as are your enemies. They use your name as a trap, a thing to bind you to the world, as they did the other Astra. You are the Astra. The last. Your earthly name makes you too easy to track, and too hard to protect." Soran said. Alex gasped in confusion.

"What do you mean?" she asked, and rather rudly, she felt back to herself. "Earthly? Hard to protect? Am i getting any of this right?" She went to the book she had placed on the plushed chair and opened it to where her aunts letter marked the pages she had read before. She flipped the pages to find the phrases she wanted.

"I read the Soran was to weaker then me...that I was to find the Soran and protect who ever it was...The constellations havn't spoken to me...Luna ignored my calls. I don't know what is happening. Everything i know seems to be wrong!" She found the shock, anger, and confusion she should have had before after being brought into the room had now found its way out of her as her mind cleared from the lack of Soran's touch.

"Will any one explain this to me!?"

The man called Soran watched her with the usual blank face as she began to rant, his expression turning stern. There was a feeling that he had disappointed her, but he could not fathom what it was that he had done. She was just confused, exactly as he had expected her to be.

"I am not stronger than you." He told her patiently. "My purpose is to protect you. My powers are great, perhaps, but useless against your enemies. The advantage to that is that their powers are also useless against me. They cannot harm me, nor I them. I can confuse them, shock them, frighten them, whatever it takes to keep you safe as you fight, but my spells do not directly affect them. You are the Astra, the fighter, the offense. I am the Soran, your defense. I provide you with strength, should yours falter, and ward off their hexes and curses. I am also the keeper of this Haven. I hold the only key, and it is the only place that they cannot come. You have not been wrong in anything. You have merely misinterpreted."

He approached her, his face stern, but not unkind, and placed his fingertips gently on her cheek, lifting her chin until she faced him, his eyes blue eyes catching her gaze and holding it. "You must learn to control your emotions, Astra. The demons have found two major weaknesses in you, your emotions and your fear. If they can manipulate your anger, your confusion, your sorrow to their benefit, they will. And there is nothing to fear. If I am there to protect you, they cannot harm you. They can only frighten you with their threats." His voice was gentle, almost lulling, and his eyes never left hers, his fingertips remaining, delicately, on her cheek. His smooth, quiet voice was like music, melancholy and knowledgable.

Alex felt her herself forget to breath once again when Soran took her chin to make her look up at him. She felt dizzy once again at his touch...almost to the extent of falling over. She could have sworn that she swayed a bit.

"You are the Astra, the fighter, the offense. I am the Soran, your defense." he explained. Alex only nodded, her face almost infantile. His fingers against her skin made her warm, made her pink...and she found herself weak at the knees. He finished explaining, and Alex knew she got it all, but didn't think she did also.

"Oh..." she sighed, his eyes were like black holes, pulling her deeper and deeper into the black void of almost mind numbness. She couldn't stand anymore, and found her way ungracfuly to the plushed chair. She slumped down and held her head, she couldn't believe he could do this to her. Only Jack was aloud to make her feel this way. She 'sobered' in a second. "Jack!" she dropped the book and looked up to Soran. "Please, i know you told me he was safe... but please, tell me where Jack is, i need to see him."
PostPosted: Thu Oct 19, 2006 4:14 pm

A strange expression flitted across the Soran's face as she requested Jack. Annoyed, a little angry, maybe, but mostly sad. It was the most expression he'd shown since appearing, and it was gone in an instant, the mask of calm control slipping back up as though the strange, garbled expression had never occured.

"As you wish." He murmurred, fingering a large red gem hung about his throat. "When you need me again, call for me, and I will come. Consult the book when you wish to leave, it will tell you the way back to your world."

He looked surprisingly like he was fretting. He looked at her. "My host is tired. I will leave you two." With a flick of his wrist, more of the powdery magic dust landed on the floor, immediately igniting into light blue flames, before dying down. The Soran had disappeared.

But he had left someone behind. Where the mystical man had just been stood Jack, his eyes closed, looking unconscious on his feet. His skin was pale, his face flushed. A soft, barely audible moan escaped his lips, and whatever magical force had held him upright released him, allowing him to crumple with a thud to the floor.

Alex covered her eyes as Soran burst into blue flames. "Soran?" she was confused. When the flames died down, Alex removed her arm, and gasped when she saw Jack standing before her. He seemed limp...as if he was being held by some magical marionett like a puppet. "Jack?" she said softly. She heard a soft moan seap from his lips, and as she cried out, she watched him fall.

"Jack!" she dove forward and caught him before his head hit the ground. Her secure arms wrapping around his chest, around his arms as she craddled him and lightly hit his face. He seemed to be waking up...but she wasn't sure. "Jack! Jack wake up..." she cried softly, just glad to see him safe. "Please...i need to talk to you!"

Jack moaned as Alex smacked his face, the kind of annoyed groan one would give when being awoken too early in the morning. His face buried in her shoulder as she knelt before him, he slowly, deliberately moved his palms to the floor, bracing himself so that he wasn't leaning all of his weight on her. It hardly helped. He seemed to be weak all the way through his body. "What....happened...?" He asked quietly, shaking with exhaustion, confusion, and, maybe...something else. Had the Soran hurt him?

Images from the past few hours drifted confusingly across his vision. What had happened to him? Who...what...? His back...ah, it hurt! Jack moaned in pain as Alex's hands pressed into a particularily sensitive part of his back, a wince and shudder of pain rushing down his body, but he was too weak too pull away from her touch. It felt as if he'd been burned...

Alex was glad to see him awake, but was quickly filled with worry when he started moaning in pain. She quickly tried to find where he was in pain.

"Jack? Where does it hurt?" She was so flustered she had forgotten the healing and strengthening spells.

What....happened...?" He asked quietly, shaking with exhaustion. Alex shook her head.

"I don't know...one moment Soran was here, then a big burst of blue flame...and then you were here. Where does it hurt?" She calmed down, breathing deeply, holding him in her arms. Her mind started to clear and she remembered the spells. "Shh, stay still." she whispered. She placed one of her shaking cold hands on his chest, right over his heart and closed her eyes lightly, and whispered softly, almost silently...she could barly hear herself. She felt the warm tingling flow through her fingers into Jack, as her energy flowed from her into him. Her arm started going numb, the feeling starting at her finger tips and moved slowly up her arm till it was to her neck, where she couldn't continue the spell.

Alex gasped as she discontinued the spell and almost went lump herself, but held herself up for Jack.

"Are you feeling better?" she breathed.
PostPosted: Mon Oct 23, 2006 2:04 pm

Her healing spells were usually comforting, stimulating, mystifying, but not this time. For whatever reason, this spell seemed to cause him more ain than before.

That reason was his back.

He cried out in pain as she performed the spell, the magic rushing through his body with the usual ease until it came to his back, were it explode in a painful eruption of agony, causing him to throw himself away from her and claw at his back, the sudden, unmerciful pain nearly driving him to insanity. He finally managed to pull his shirt over his head. The feel of air against what he suspected to be a very bad burn on his back helped to calm him. He knelt on the floor before Alex, clutching his hsirt in his hands, his eyes foggy, his breathing labored, as slowly the pain on his back died down.

On his back, right beneath his neck and between his shoulder blades, a rune shimmered against his skin, pulsing with magic, matching the design on the pendant that the Soran had worn.

Jack fell forward, catching himself on his hands, his fingers digging into the deep, thick carpet. His breath was still heavy and labored, and his mind still swam confusingly, boolt the jolt of pain had worked almost like cold water, he was now alert and awake. The pain on his back died down to a dull numbness.

When Jack seemed to pull away from Alex, she cried out. She tried to calm him, but was too weak to do anything but whisper "shh, what is it? Tell me what is wrong" she watched horrified as Jack tore his shirt over his head and show a large glimmering Rune, like the one from Soran's pendant, on his back. Alex was frightened to touch Jack, didn't want to cause him any more pain.

When it looked like Jack's pain was gone, Alex faultered and hesiteted before she started to crawle to him. Her hand extended out infront of her as she edged forward.

"My God...Jack, are you ok? I am so sorry!" She was close to him now, and touched his shoulder. "What can i do to make it better?" she asked, she kissed his bare shoulder as she placed her cold hand on his neck. "What do you want me to do?"
