Mleli's mood was calmer than it had been in recent times, she wasn't feeling particularly angry anymore but she wasn't very happy either. She was most certainly tired of running into lions, even just the small ones that she had confused. Other than that, she'd finally gotten over her run-in with the crazed lioness who was convinced she would rule the jungle, though it was not forgotten.
She was laying lazily on a low branch of her tree, the one she'd declared her home, staring off into the dim light of the morning. There was still a pessimistic quality to her mood that prevented her from being too energetic this early, but she was awake.

*Kujack was frantic; he was padding back and forth within the jungle. This was his old home, before everything changed; this was the place that he came to when he wanted to get away…. Not to say that he wanted to get away from his new cubs and mate, no. Jack just needed some air. So he walked on and thought to himself. He was so sure that things were going to stay perfect… nothing bad could happen now, right?*

Mleli didn't move when the sounds of a creature coming closer and closer reached her ears. There was a strange pace to the steps, and after a short moment of contemplating them the leopardess lazily turned her head in the direction they were coming from. She stared off into the distance, waiting to see what would emerge from the distance.

*With a low tucked head Kujack slowly came into play; His form was clean, as always and his paws carefully placed one in front of the other as he moved. He was tired… this could be seen but other then that he looked fine. His lime colored orbs softly narrowed as he lifted his gaze; and with a soft laugh spoke.*
“Wow, long time no see.”
*This was weird, his old friend Mleli was right in front of him- and she seemed different, bigger? With a soft smile he laughed and sat himself down, awaiting her reply.*

When Kujack came into view, Mleli's eyes brightened and her head lifted up immediately. What a lovely turn of events, not only was it not a lion but it was a leopard, and one she'd met before. She grinned and slowly pulled herself to her feet and leapt down from the low tree branch she was resting on.
"Kujack," she greeted him with a genuine smile, "Finally someone with some sense." Obviously she wasted no time in dropping hints at having met some unhappy characters, and that she was pleased to see someone she thought still had similar opinions.
The leopardess took a moment to look over Kujack, he looked tired than before but much the same. And there was a strange scent about him, but she didn't pay it much mind.

“What’s wrong?”
*he asked with a slight frown. She seemed rather upset about something- this wasn’t any good! Someone so lovely shouldn’t be so upset. With a kind smile he sat himself back and gazed around the jungle. He missed this place, the open lands would never please him; he loved the trees here; the cold winds and shade. He would have to come visit here more often; maybe he could bring his cubs along.
Flicking his tail from side to side he sat still and slowly pulled his gaze back to her.*
“Did something bad happen?”

He wasted no time, and Mleli was almost pleased to get such a reaction from him. Especially since he was undoubtedly going to agree with her. She watched his gaze move about the jungle, and waited for it to return to her, now sitting with her tail curled around her legs and her chin in the air.
"Crossed paths with a few too many lions," she commented stiffly, "Cubs of a previous acquaintance, no less. And there was the crazy one who claimed she would rule the jungle." It was a quick summary, and it all came around to emphasize that perhaps her dislike of lions had increased. And then all Mleli did was sit and stare at Kujack calmly, waiting for his opinion.
Oh, to be agreed with again~

“Ohh…”
*A look of guilt and disbelief passed the grown male’s maw; how on earth was he to react to that? His mate was a lion and his cubs were… well... his cubs. They were half lion- right? With a coy look he quickly snapped his gaze from her and stumbled to find the right thing to say.*
“I…is that so?”
*Oh Kujack; he couldn’t bring himself to say anything bad about lions. His eyes seemed to glaze over with worry as he looked back at her. Could she see right through him?*

Mleli's eyes never left Kujack, and her nose stayed in the air confidently as she awaited a pleasent, reassuring response from an old friend. The falter and strange look on the leopard caught her off guard, and her nose lowered and her eyes narrowed almost curiously at him.
What was the expression he wore, even briefly? Guilt..? More importantly, she was simply not being comforted or even hearing some remarks that would show some kind of agreement of opinions. And she'd been so sure Kujack agreed with her.
"What?" she asked stiffly, wanting an explanation for his careful response. The leopardess couldn't imagine what was wrong, and even if she could she'd never guess the truth.

“Umm...”
*A look of helplessness passed the grown male’s maw as he softy sighed; he needed to tell her, to let her know… after all, they were friends, right? Slowly Kujack found it within himself to open up to her, and with a soft smile he spoke.*
“I’m a father now…”
*So- yeah, he wasn’t really being truthful, but he wasn’t lying… he was avoiding the fact that his mate and cubs were… lion? With a quick turn of the head he gulped and looked around franticly.*

She watched Kujack expectantly as he hesitated over giving a response, and when it came her steel blue eyes widened. Kujack was a father? Part of her was surprised, part of her was not so surprised. He'd said he never wanted children, hadn't he? Sometimes cubs just happened unintentionally, though- and that was the assumption she would go with for now.
"Is that so?" she said after a long pause, watching his actions. Mleli had no idea what to say after that as she watched him look about in a panic- what was all that about?

“Yeah… five of them; Four boys, one girl…”
*He added softly. How was he going to tell her now? She hated lions… she even started that they annoyed her, and after all of his talk about how useless cubs were... he felt ashamed. He had changed for the better, or so he thought. If she couldn’t except this then… was she truly his friend?*
“My mate… she is very kind and lovely… her name is Aysha.”
*He stuttered before adding.*
“She is a lioness.”

Mleli's eyebrow lifted curiously when he said how many cubs he had; five was quite the number, especially if someone did not like or want cubs. The look on his face and the next two words from his mouth explained it all, though- he'd found a mate, and they had had cubs. He'd certainly changed a great deal, and her expression was only that of surprise as she tried to absorb this while he stuttered on after giving the name of his mate.
It seemed like not that long ago they were discussing how much they didn't really want cubs, and now he not only had cubs but he had a mate. It was hard to imagine Kujack with a happy little family, and she was not so stubborn to imagine that others might not change but what she heard next was rather unbelievable.
A lioness?
This was not Kujack. No, how was it possible in such a short time to go from sincerely thinking one way to sincerely acting another?
"W-what?" she hissed, unable to help her tone of voice.

“She… Ger, well... you see; Ger and I found her and I don’t know… we got along? And feel in love… and had cubs together.”
*Jack’s green orbs softly gazed down at his paws as he did his best to explain his half of the story; but wait… why did it matter? He was happy, why did he feel so bad inside? Was it because he left his friend in the dark the whole time? Did she even care? With a deep sigh gazed up at her and added.*
“I love them, they are my family… even if...they are lion, I still love them, and they are my family... My blood.”

"With a lion?" she snapped, still trying to understand the complete turn that her friend had made in perspective, "What happened to you? This is the exact opposite of what you were saying last time we met!"
Mleli listened to him explain how he felt, and just shook her head as if she were refusing to hear it, refusing to believe it. Lions were all she'd seen in so long, lions were seemingly 'taking over' the jungle and the one time she runs into a leopard- an old friend- she learned that he is contributing to it? This was not as pleasant a conversation as she had hoped.
