My JROTC corp has been having trouble shutting up and taking the the class as if it was the real deal. if any of you are having trouble with the same thing please post and discuss ways to solve the problem for us all.

I'm lucky, strict instructors. No problem what so ever. And if there is, they get kicked out of the unit.

At times, but after a quick "LOCK IT UP!" from a senior cadet usually does the trick. Or, we just throw things or use a water gun. Our instructors have zero tolerance for that kind of behavior.

that would be nice if i could get my unit to be a little more serious but my Col. is too nice and picks favorites. he keeps putting ppl that are in no way qualified for the position in command. i think ill just be a flight commander next year so i can try to straiten everyone out. HaHaHa pushups for all!!!

I'm calm, I just ask them to be quiet.
I'm a very nice cadet but I will use athority to keep them in line.
If they still don't shut up I'll make 'em do push-ups till they barf on PT day. xd

Alpha probably has two of the biggest loud mouths out of JROTC. Well, that is to say that they don't know when it is and isn't alright to talk. And some days they just decide not to show up, not good for our already rather small company.

JROTC here always has a lot of drama between people. If not that, then a bunch of sexual humor going on between the guys; all in good fun though. Definately makes the day more interesting.

For my unit, the upperclassman will shout, "LOCK IT UP!" If the first sergeant is present, "AT EASE!" If an officer is there, he/she will put us at attention/parade rest.

I must admit, my perspective on the current situation with many of the JROTCs now a days is quite disappointing. As for my JROTC program, it does not escape this effect.

Our Chain-Of-Command is lightly taken seriously, strictness and professionalism is loose, corruption within the ranks is apparent, and respect toward fellow cadets are not reinforced. Our Brass is not keeping the high standards, and many of our cadets have little to no honor when it comes to the history and memory of those who wore the uniform before them.

As a GySgt in the MCJROTC program, it is my duty, and as well the duty of many of the other higher ranking NCOs to uphold the backbone of the unit, and although I am just one in a handful of authentically committed subordinate cadets, we are working to teach the younger cadets so that they may be better than our own officers in the future. By setting the example in everything we do, and by staying committed, we can be assured that only good will prosper and spread. Slowly but surely.

I'm very lucky. My AFJROTC is pretty professional and has respect. Now..there are about 10-20 cadets I would love to be able to be alone with for 10 minutes but those do not represent the majority of the Wing. Our Wing Staff is professional and not corrupt, and our Colonel is kinda good at picking them. Now for other positions...he sometimes isnt. >

I am proud to say I strick fear in the hearts of the lower ranks in my AFJOTC, and have the respect of the other officers in my corp and the funny thing is im only a Master Sargent, it might be the way i look I dont really know

only 4% of the cadets in my unit are all jackasses but the rest are all motivated. Thats how we win at every single DRill and Sops Events! its super fun!

Is it mainly freshman disturbing the unit's seriousness?give them consequences.compare them to others. if you compete against other schools.compare them to the ones who beat you.(if there is any).or threaten to not take them to competition. or you could always give them PIT. lol. our Msgt. gives anyone pit who makes him mad. I love him,him being a marine in our Navy unit. PIT is basicly pt x how ever bad they were.

I dont know if im considered a jackass but i know i keep them boys in line if needed, for example if a cadet is yelling at his girlfriend or any other girl for that matter i will drop him where he stands. and yell as loud as i can to keep him in order
