Newt had been hopping from outdoor trashbin to trashbin in search of bugs as he often did while making his way through the village. Not too far from the cafeteria, it seemed someone had tossed something exceedingly stinky away and to his delight, it had attracted a torrent of winged crunchies for his enjoyment. It was always a chore and a game catching bugs, that he was steadily getting better at. He found it best to keep either a stick, or in today's case, his broom handle unscrewed from the broom itself as an easy prodding tool. Once the trash had been upset, usually the critters lurking inside would flee for their lives, only to be snatched from the air by Newt's carefull and talented tongue and have their lives abrubtly ended by his crooked teeth.

Practicing his speech in front of a mirror was a difficult thing. It meant Sid had to keep staring at his face as he struggled to annunciate, as if just listening to it wasn't bad enough. It was a wonder that he hadn't bashed his head against the damn thing, but on the bright side it meant his self-control wasn't completely shot. Though lately he had to stop and take a moment to recover more and more... Not a good sign when keeping his cool was still all important.

He was fine, he was golden, he could manage, right. Walking helped to get himself together. By the time Sid reached the cafeteria he'd almost worked out his frustration. He hesitated at the door, reminded of all the times that things had gone terrible wrong out there. The movement nearby drew his attention before he had the chance to decide if he wanted to tempt fate again. He turned and walked that way, happy to have an excuse to put it off for the time being.

Seeing what Newt was up to killed his appetite anyway. Nevermind the fact that lately he did the exact same thing with other people, he couldn't help but stare in morbid fascination.

When a particularly large beatle suddenly errupted from the bin, the frog man gave a startled cry as he fell backward. The insect was the size of a fist, fluttering horribly and had Newt not been so decensitized he would have been squeemish, but as things stood it looked delicious. He quickly gathered himself, leaping in hot persuit of it in Sid's direction. In mid-hop, Newt's tongue flew out to meet the black crunchy mouthfull, but at the sight of someone watching him he fumbled. He gave a cry of pain as he hit the dirt, the timing off for his landing, and his teeth mashed down on his soft amphibious tongue. "Ah! B-b-b-buh-blast!" He groaned as the dust began to settle.

Sid winced as Newt landed on his tongue. He couldn't help but feel responsible for that, seeing as he mostly was. He stepped forward and offered his free hand- kneeling wasn't something he wanted to risk- and for the moment he forgot about the fact that Newt hadn't seen him since that day in the Cafeteria so long ago.

"Sah-" he couldn't finish. Trying to speak meant inhaling some of the dust kicked up in the air, so the other syllable was lost as he fell into a coughing fit.

"Aaah!" Newt groaned, his belly pressed against the ground while his knees pointed at the sky, his mouth open as he tried to shake the pain of the bite, "I... I... I d-d-d-d-duh... " His large watery eyes lolled, catching sight of the beatle that seemed to mock him as it flitted away, unscathed.

When the coughing subsided Sid wiped his mouth, for all the good it would do, and turned his attention back to Newt. "Ssseriously," he said. "Ya awight?"

By then, the stuttering ex-janitor seemed to have regained his composure (as composed as Newt ever was, at any rate,) opening and closing his mouth sorely, "Ah... er... y-yes... j-just... ah... a buh-bit embarassed... B-but... but I sup-suppose I sh-should be used to it by n-now..." He glared as heatedly as he was capable at the bug as he chose to let it flee. It hadn't gotten away at all. Newt had let it escape out of the goodness of his heart. That was it.

"Ah din'n mean ta... ta... innerupt," Sid said. Following Newt's gaze, he watched the bug disappear from sight. "Theah'll be oth... others."

The frogman sighed, swallowing a few times as he sat upright a bit more, looking thouroughly embarassed as he turned to go find his prodding-stick again, "S-suh-s-ss-sorry if I fruh-fr-ff-fuh... F-fruh-fruh-fruh-frightened you..."

"Kinna hahd to lately." Sid pointed to his face. "Don' worry bou' ih... it..."

He rolled his eyes, then sucked back the spit that inevitably accumlated now and again. He was getting to the point where the noise didn't bother him, which also happened to be the point where he forget other people might not feel the same way.

At the sound of the slurp, Newt looked up. Usually, Newt had a habit of meerly scanning the faces of the people around him for just a moment befor concentrating on their shoes. He didn't like seeing the look on people's faces as their critical eyes bore into him. Once he did look, however, the frog in the back of Newt's head gave a terrified croak, his throat inflating sharply at the sight of preditor teeth. "Ah-! KrrKIT!"

"Yeah, ah know," Sid said. He'd move passed trying to apologize for the problem and was on to simply getting annoyed when attention was called to it. That, to him, was progress.

He leaned a little more heavily on the cane while he waited for Newt to recover, or run, or whatever he cared to do.

"I... I'm s-sorry!!" the frog-man gushed, feeling terrible for his floundering. His voice was high and nervious still, despite his better efforts to look unbothered by the fangs arching up from the spittle-lined jaw. "I... I... I... I j-just... ah... w-was... w-was s-startled... I m-mean... I'm s-sorry, I d-didn't m-mean... th-that is ah..."

Newt huddled down, his throat jumping in his nerviousness, although he kept it from reinflating. "I d-didn't... m-mean to... to... y-your.. er... t-teeth st-startled m-me... um..." He didn't want to insult or make the poor man feel any more like a freak than any of them were.
