Massive lion, one of broad shoulders and a bulky frame. Golden fur and dark brown mane. Its teal eyes lazily looking around. The markings on his paws, the only marking he inherited from his mother, moved under him as he walked through the dark, drecete wasteland known as the Elephant Graveyard. Rumors of the animals he met always told the male to avoid it, not matter what. There was a demon, a monster, there that would devour him. There was a lioness dipped in blood that would skin him. There were the many hyenas that would overpower him. There were lions that would love to enslave him. Rumors..just rumors.

It let out a long sigh as he looked up at the sky. Great...I should have known. Never listen to father when he gives directions, always end up getting lost...like that time we ended up in the Firekin Desert rather than the Mistweaver Valley. Now I am ******** lost here in this place. He slumped his shoulders and sighed once more. His father, the only role-model he had most of his life, the only family he had. Their business, what kept them going, was to help everyone that needed it. Save a cub, a pup, or something from something else. Protect their territory during a pregnancy, or even, the most stupidest once, fetch water from the sea for some wierd courtship. But little did they know, that one request, made him long for the place. However, his mind had to stay on course, he had to fufill his mother's last wish and his father's; join the Pride Landers. It couldn't be hard, right? They were just like no other pride. He helped many to know waht they were like.....he thinks.

Carefully, the golden lion moved around, carefully placing his paws where he would not be harmed by any of the bones that littered the ground. How could anyone live here? Those rumors had to be false, this place was exactly what it was, a graveyard, not a single living soul there but himself. If he could spend months on end roaming this damned place just to find a way out to the Pride Lands.

"Take a short cut through the graveyard, it will be faster."

It sneered, imitating his father's voice, waxed out of range, making fun of him. Leave it to the father to send his son blindly into some bleek place like this. On the bright side, if he didn't find a way out, he could always spend the night here since there was no one else around.

As he moved about, following the star, northern star, the brightest, Mohatu, he moved over a skull with a rather large crack in it. Before he moved his paw, he looked down, almost stepping into it. Curious, he placed his paw on it, Too small..I can't fit inside. he said. His paw was too big, meaning the rest of him would not fit. He sighed again and continued on.

"...Stupid graveyard..."

Mtafutaj'duhushi was feeling wonderful. To know that he would have true and entire reign over the graveyard without the help or over throw by his sisters as a threat. Not that he would have actually let them overthrow him but, it was still a threat. He chuckled even in half awareness, dragging black claws along the brittle bone of his sleeping area. Long limbs pulled to his body, Duhushi yawned softly. He didn;t trust his purple legs to hold him quite yet even as green eyes opened and unclouded. It would be a glorious graveyard day becuase of this black night. His striped mane billowed from a small gust of wind. Hot wind. The prince groaned and stretched out tired paws. It would be a long day even if it were perfect. Amleth's body brushed against his as he stood. Tail flicking, he bent and gave a soft lick to her forehead. "Goodnight my Angel."

He chuckled and went about his rounds with a certain bounce in his step. The near disapperance of the scars on his wrist finally let his mind forget the limp he had once had. The thin pink lines had seemed to vanish after his recent growth spurt. A glossy and magnificent coat had replaced the dull and fluffy grooming nightmare from his body. Devilishly handsome. Or atleast how he carried himself now. Royal and handsome was a horrible mix unless he was refined and gentlemanly.

Duhushi was all of that...to an extent.

His widely known temper had gotten him and Amleth into so much trouble that he had to tone himself down. It was still dark even when he reached the crystalline pool. His muzzle dipped into the suprisingly cool water as he drank his fill; striped tail flicking behing him.

The prince lifted his head spaying across to the den that his family once shared. It sickened him. A snarl curled his lips as he fell back on purple haunches. The only this he happily inherited from his father was the beautiful stripes in his mane. That was it. Duhushi wanted nothing more to do with the small lion. Not that he was angry or disgusted by him. He just didn't understand exactly why he was created. Exactly why he was here.

Green eyes slitted when he thought of Dhamisa. So much like their father. The little princess that everyone wanted. "Puh. See where she's gotten now..." He grinned and scratched under his chin with a claw.
He was the only one left. The only one to keep the family together and he was going to do it no matter what.

"You'll see father. I'll do better than she ever could."

The large lion moved about carefully manuevering around all these discarded bones, if this place was kept better, it would be grassy like everywhere else. Bones, rotting flesh, and those still decomposing. This place was creepy, would scare him half way to death if it weren't for his well....pride. As he walked along a path, his eyes moved from bone to bone, naming off what they used to be. He was young, just recently into adulthood and he knew what each bone was and what it belonged to. Came with the trade he suppose.

"Antelope....Zebra....Wildebeast....Bird....Gazzelle....Meerkat....Warthog...."

He spoked to himself seeing as there was no one else around now. The bones became repetitive so he stopped. This place was rather dull, and yet peaceful if one got over all of it and saw it as a resting place to gather oneself again. The large lion sighed and looked around. A crossroad? One side or the other, which way?

"....Eeny...meanie...miny...mo...."

How mature. His claw moved to one to the other with each word, adding more just for the hell of it. What was the purpose of it? No purpose, just to amuse himself. Eventually his claw landed on the path heading right and that is the one he took. He smiled to himself contently as he walked along.

As the golden male moved, his paws stopped, ears swiveled, and eyes narrowed. A voice? Yes, a male's. So there was someone here after all. Great...he short of wished there weren't. Then they would see him, then they could mock him, discriminate him. He had to avoid that male, he absolutely had to avoid him. But first where was he? His aqua greene eyes danced about the surroundings to see if the male was nearby. Nothing. He walked a little further and stopped, turning his head to the right, he saw it. A large, oddly colored lion by a watering place. Good, his back was turned, perhaps he could get away without him noticing or something. Slowly he moved his marked paws on the gound carefully, stalking away silently. One paw at a time, step by step. His eyes remained on the lion when....

SNAP

s**t! his eyes widened as his head jerked back to the lion he saw. His heart raced, what the hell was he going to do? He didn't want to be seen, then again his body was like a wall, how can anyone miss him!? Damn it, he had to find a place to hide somewhere. His head moved back and forth, looking around for a place to hide.....Nowhere.

"Crud..."

Duhushi was deeply in thought. His tail lay still beside him as he drilled himself over and over again in his head. No. That would never work. Big paws swept away the dust before him as he sank to his stomach. The male looked troubled but it was really nothing to the prince. Glossy purple fur was almost resistant to the dust around him as it billowed and settled around him. The early hours of the day reflected his own dark mood. Something was wrong at his old dwellings. The Pridelands had been cast in shadow much too long for it to be alright. For it to be flourishing. Green eyes closed on their own accord as he placed his head on his paws, blowing the mane to stop it from tickling his nose.

"Maybe...I should go back for a little while."

His voice was tired and weak with his thoughts. Could he actually leave Amleth to check on a pride that he really had no ties to? The question burned and churned his stomach. It bubbled and seeped into his throat until he could barely breath. His eyes slowly opened and he watched the very tip of Priderock against the moon. Something was definately wrong. But could he, would he actually go back?

The male's body remained motionless, still for the moment. His aqua green eyes set on the purple mass by the watering hole. It's tail moved side from side, the dust raising and falling back onto him. Did it not hear him? Was it death? The large male relaxed, putting all four paws onto the ground again looking around. There was no place for him to hide now. There was no real place to go either. This stranger may be of help....What harm could it possibly do to such a large, strong lion like himself....even if he was a coward and a "freak". Carefully, he moved slowly over to the other feline.

"....Hello, miss."

He greeted, assuming the purple fur belonged to a female. Why? Well, it was a femine color to him, he usually saw it in many females of different species, rarely saw it in males. It was just an assumtion. His large body moved as his head lifted up and looked to its sides to see who it was. He wanted to be polite as possible. He was too close now, he could not run and hide. He could try, sure, but that would be disrespectful. He only ran when no one was looking.

"Miss?"

Duhushi stretched and yawned. He didn't hear the other get closer. His lanky body fell to the side, mane falling out around him. His mind reeled and he felt tired. His eyes closed once again The purple prince was beginning to doze off and leave the thoughts behind when his ear flicked to a slight sound. It was dark so his vision was a bit less than great but his hearing was certainly up to par.

Miss...

Someone had thought he was female?! He jumped to his feet, hackles bristeled. He looked most certainly male now. "Who the hell are you calling Miss you b*****d?!..." He growled lightly, not in agreesion but more of a reassurance that what the male had said wasn't true.

The male's eyes body seemed to jumped a bit, a jerk if you will, when the obvious male snapped back at him. Almost instantly, the male sat down on his rump. His ears perked and his paws quickly lacing together, his tail swinging over them, and his body closed yet tall. The golden male dipped his head.

"Sorry, sir, I...I thought you were....forgive me."

He apologized, picking his head back up. He kept his body closed together, squirming a bit from time to time. A habit he had grown to since...well, since he was an adolescent. Strange to others who may see him, but he had his reason. Rarely sat, but here it seemed like a reflex. Perhaps it was a good idea to apologize.

"Sorry, sir, I...I don't normally see a male with such a strange color of fur. That shade is normally seen on females, and from my line or work...rather, my old line of work. Forgive me."

Again, dipping his head, pulling back with slight smile. A purple male? He was rather handsome, he wasn't afraid to admit it. His body was so....ideal in the lion's mind. Smaller, lanky....something he dreamt of, but no, he had the exact opposite. Sort of made him jealous of the other male. Again, shaking his head.

"My name's Trig."

Duhushi snorted. Most lions wuld have the decency after insulting a prince especially one with a hot temper. His mane fell into his eyes but he starred through the black, white and purple fur at the other male. He wasn't in the mood for lions who didn't care about respect and tugged their brains behind them.

"Forgive you? Such an insult is death worthy if you come into another's pride." Tail lashing, he stepped closer to the other male. His purple fur glowed causing the dust to look transparent around him. "Apologizing means nothing to me..." Green eyes drifted away from Trig for a moment and his claws dug into the ground beneath him. So foolish. He didn't look all that much like a female nor did he smell like one? A sigh escaped his muzzle and his eyes turned over to the golden male. "I am Mtafutaj'duhushi, prince of the Maziko."

"What the hell do you want here Trig?" He spat the words out in disgust. No one called him Miss and got away with it.

A prince? This male was the prince of the pride? There was a pride here!? Well, well, it would see his father had led him astray...again. He was told that the graveyard was a barren wastelands with no life but the hyenas there. And here he finds a lion? a purple male, prince of the Maziko? That was sort of...unexpected. But he knew not where his father was now and even if he wanted to beat him, he could not. To think all of this was because of him...

"He was the damn male who gave me these genes. How can he blame me for this? Is it truely my fault for being so big? No, it's his! It's all his fault! He hates me for what he did! God damn it!"

He shouted and quickly paused....

"....Did I just say that...a loud?"

He asked, looking down to the other male. A habit he used once in a while, something his father sort of instilled in him. He was right, his father was the cause of all his problems. He cleared his throat and bowed his head again.

"Sorry, I was not told that there was a pride here, Mtafutaj'duhushi. I was told to cut through here to get to the Pride Lands...however, I've gotten lose. I was gonna spend the night and continue on to the Pride Lands. Does that answer your, prince?"

He replied, smiling softly to him. He was very...attractive Trig had to admit. His small body, lanky and svelte, something the large lion dreamt of but knew he could not obtain. All he can do is envy those who did.

"If you don't want me here, Mtafutaj'duhushi, then I will leave..."

Duhushi snorted, mane relxing and falling back in its place. Female. Someone had actually called him that. This certainly wasn't a great continuance of the monarchy. The male looked at the ground still angry out of his mind but there wasn't much he could do no was there? His fur was the bane of his existence but he still loved his mother even with her genetic predetermination for a purple son.

"Is there a problem?..."

Great. Now he's talking to some imaginary person. Just my luck. The purple male always got stuck with the nut jobs. "You most certainly did say that out loud."

"No. Father says that everyone can stay if they see fit. Enjoy."

Trig dipped his head, his body closed around himself but still remained sitting up trying his best not to be rude and yet keep to himself. He sighed and looked down to the other male, maybe that was being rude too. Carefully the large lion laid himself down, now to the other male's eye level. He had to be polite, it was how he was raised by his father then again it was because of his father that he was out here...or was it his own?

"Sorry, I...didn't mean to say that out loud, forget you heard it."

Now he probably thinks he is a crazy nut job. Many had already seen him as a freak, some as some god from his size, and now the "nut job" classification can be added. He sighed but quickly returned the eye contact.

"Your father? You listen to him?"

He chuckled, Trig had stopped listening to his father some time ago. Well more of listening to the more important thing and drowning out the repetitive stuff.

"Well, I guess you would, not everyone's are teh same. I bet he's nice. Anyways, is there any place for us to sleep? Just for the night."
PostPosted: Tue Oct 31, 2006 9:30 pm

The purple prince felt a bit more comfortable when the larger male came to his eye level. His tail still flicked and his neck still bristled. What was wrong with this crazy lion? He was big, polite but utterly crazy. "Forget I heard that?..." How could he really forget? It was so obviously absurd and wierd but he couldn't pass judgement. he himself had sone some pretty odd things. Most of them caused the scars that marred his flesh.

The sun hadn't quite risen and his rounds were not finished. He needed to get back to his angel before daybreak so she wouldn't find her lover gone after such a glorious night. His rounds needed to be finished and this big male was hindering his work. Purple paws shifted with his weight as he slowly began to turn away. A stupid thing to do in the company of a male but it was urgent a certainly a prince was in no harm especially in his own territory.

"Of course I listen to my father. I have to." Duhushi would listen to his father if it was for the good of the pride but for no other reason. "Either help me finish my rounds or just stay out of my way wile you're here until you recognize my gender..."

Trig sighed and lowered his head a bit.

"Just forget it, alright? It's nothing special or of any importance to you."

He said, returning his ocean green eyes to him. His eyes were nice too. Every once in a while, his eyes would wander over his body, seeing some faint scars that marked his skin. Where did they come from? Was he some sort of fighter? The large lion would have to watch out for him if he was while he was here.

"You have to? See, our fathers are different. Mine is a fool and just a pain in the rump. But...he is a nice guy, helping others when they need it. However, he treats me no less than anyone else I guess, it's just annoying when he keeps repeating the same lecture over and over again. Sound familiar to you?"

The golden furred lion rose to his feet, oddly it seemed as if his back was hunched. The front of his body was straight just like any other lion would, but his hind quarters were another matter. His hind legs seemed a little more forward, his tail was rather low and sort of between his leg. What was with him? Was there something wrong with him? or...was he trying to hide something?

"I'll be happy to accompany you on your rounds, Mtafutaj'duhushi. And I apologize again for the misunderstanding."

Damn, it was just a mistake, who knew?
PostPosted: Tue Nov 07, 2006 1:18 pm

Duhushi was in no mood to listen to the ramblings of an obviously confused lion. Dark claws dragged against the ground as he gracefully bounced with each step. His mane fell around his shoulders as he turned to look at the golden male behind him. The scars across his maw tightened in a scowl.

"Well, then hurry up. I don't have time to sit still and chat. Leter, if you want, I will entertain you like my father would." There was a slight hint of disgust in his voice as he continued on. "Our fahers are very different. You simply have no idea Mine is a fool, an oaf, whatever you call it. He is overly cheerful, abnoxious and holds hid daughter above all others." His whiskers flicked at the meer mention of his beloved sister Dhamisa. "I guess it's none of your concern though."

Finally getting over his obvious distaste, the prince stopped and liffted a paw. 'If you truely want to help then you have to check every empty shell, every single area you can find. Hyenas could be anywhere and they will not endanger any cubs that will soon grace this land." Green eyes starred at the male in their normal crude fashion, sizing the other up. "I'm sure you can be trusted with such a simple task.

With a flick of his tail, Duhushi climbed easily to the top of a sagging tusk, clinging to the dull tip. New territory needed to be expertly checked.

"Right."

He murmured as he quickly came up to Duhu's side. His ears perked up to pick up the information he was given. Turn over every skull and search every possible place for a hyena to hide. It would seem the Pride and the Pack did not share any alliance even living in the same place. That would be something else he would have to search up on.

The way he spoke of his father sounded nothing like his own. Well, maybe that was because his father had no daughters, just two boys, he and another who's name was lost with the ages. All he knew was that he shared the dark mane like his Uncle who he has also never met, rather forgotten.

"It seems we are not that too far off when it comes to our fathers. But, yes, another time for that."

Trig spoke out checking out some relatively med size skulls, they were mere tree trunks to him, wait, that would be difficult for a normal lion. Quickly he dropped it as it remind him of himself, a freak, a big, strong, large, freak. He let out a sigh and continued his search just peering into them through the sockets. This was rather tedious.

"So, you do this everyday, Mtafutaj'duhushi, looking out for hyenas? One would have lots of patience to check out every one of these-"

Trig cut off when he peered through a crack in a larger skull, probably an adult elephant's. Inside was another lion, a golden one too. It looked so tenuous and tired. The lion pulled back a bit, turning around to see if the other was nearby.

"Duhu, Duhu, come here. I think I found something."

He called out, hoping the purple furred one would come running to him. But he had to make sure if the lion he found was alright. He placed his paw onto the skull and pushed down with the force he had, unfortunately, it only got his paw inside. Great, this would need much more force. Trig pulled back a few more steps and charged head first, tumbling inside as pieces of marrow flew everywhere. Shaking his brunette mane, he stared down at the other lion.

Adolescent, possibly around Mtafutaj'duhushi's age. Golden fur, similar brown mane like his own, a lighter shade of golden fur too. His fur and mane were rather messy too. Looking over him more closely it was in good shape, strong, possibly more room to grow too. A staggered breathe made Trig jump a bit, it was unexpected. It was surely alive too. Who was it? How did it get here? Looking up, there was a large gaping hole at the top of the skull, it looked just like the one he passed on the way here. How could he not have noticed the golden mass inside?

Trig pressed a paw onto his side, it was firm to the touch, cold too.

"It's gonna be alright."
