Well it's finally happened. My PS2 will literally not play any game at all, even if I attempt to clean it. Faulty hardware has gotten the best of me and now It's completely worthless...

No matter how many times I clean it, I still get "Cannot Read Disc."

I'm sure I'll keep trying to clean it, but I see no resolution in this.

So what should I do now? I have no system whatsoever. My Gamecube and my PS2 have broken down on me.

It's funny... my SNES and NES still work, yet my PS2 couldnt manage a couple years.

The usual, put one side of a Q-Tip in Windex. Put it on the laser. Twist once. Use the other side to dry it.

The laser may be need to be manually realigned.

This might sound weird, but have you used tape?
Making a square with the tape right around the hole in the discs has gotten a few discs that stopped working for me to work again.

Its very easy to fix, you need to open your PS2, then unscrew and take off the CD shield, then under that there shall be a little white dial/nob

there will be a small metal arrow pointing at one of the..?..notches? in the nob, mark this with a sharpie and then procede to turn the nob clockwise?(might be counter) until the entire disk laser drops and clicks

then gently place the CD shield back on top of the thing, and hold it down gently with your hand, put a CD in and test it

if all CDs will read in the browser then it is fixed

make sure you rescrew everything back and then close it up

I know it works, Ive fixed 5 PS2's doing this and they all play Blue disks, silver, gold and DVD/CD/PS1 disks

I think my instructions are a tiny bit vague on what the nob looks like, you might want to google a picture of it

I gotten my PS2 to work almost like new by a total spray down. I just pop the top off and the CD shield and spray the ******** out of it with a Dust Off can. But now that my brothers and I use it so much, the servos in the disc tray don't work sometimes. Plus its making minute scratches on the discs, which pisses me off. That's the only thing that I get OCD about. My discs. So next week I'm getting a slim PS2. I trust the flip top better.

Didn't work.

You have to keep rotating the nob (4 clicks) until all disks work

I did that, never worked.

My last thing I need to do is spray it.
