They had been traveling for a while now, Daemon adn Ruffian. Ruffian leading the way, leading Daemon back home. He was so excited, he couldn't wait to see who was there, if anyone remembered him, or his mother, even her name would suffice. But for now, this was nice too, traveling with a friend.
Ice hues looked towards the horizon. It was past high noon, the sun slowly making its way down farther in the sky, lightning the sky up with brilliant colors and tints. Soon it would be dark. At least they had hunted the day before. Daemon never thought Ruffian could be as fast and strong as she was (by watching her of course), he was quite impressed and to say the least;stunned.
He had never seen one like her before.
Daemon wondered how long it would take to get to the Pridelands, also, what Ruffian would do after they reached their destination. He turned his head to look at her, and spoke softer then usual, but his voice was still rough like it always was, "Ruffian, how much longer do you think? Just curious."
He flicked his tail to the side. Even if it was longer, Daemon didn't mind spending more time with Ruffian.
He didn't mind the least bit.
Ruffian, was unique.

Ruffian had met this stranger of a lion, and actually didn't mind spending too much time with him. There were certain times she just wanted to smack him across the head, but that wouldn't be very polite, and it wasn't his fault that she didn't much enjoy the company of others. She was always nervous of others, especially males, after the invasion of the Firekin on her homelands.
But that was the past, and it wasn't always good to mope on things that you can never change.
She turned towards her companion, Daemon, as he asked just how much futher it would be until they reached his homeland. "Perhaps if we keep up our pace, we will reach the border by early morning."
She swished her tail as she turned back to face the direction they were headed, pretty sure that she gave him an accurate account of how much longer it would take. Her brown eyes scanned the land, making sure that nothing out of the ordinary would cross their path.

His heart lurdhed, it was only a short time until they made it there. He witheld his excitement, he didn't want to appear as a child. He was an adult, he had to act like one. He couldn't help it sometimes though. His voice was rough, but he acted how he wished...or how he believed was right for himself.
"Thats good...hell it's great but..." he stopped speaking, but continued along, but soon they would have to find a place to rest. They had been traveling afterall, they couldn't kill themselves by just continually walking along.
He wondered if she would stay, stay there with him. But it was her choice, he also didn't want to force her. Plus, she might not even want to, he didn't know how she felt around him, he wondered if he was too distantly out there, or too annoying...hmmm...what to say?
Daemon kept on padding along, but watched Ruffian with his ice eyes, "Ruffian, when we get there...where will you go?" he wondered if she would leave and he would never see her again. Or if she would stay.
Her choice.
He had to remember it was her choice.

Ruffian slowly stopped her pace and looked over at him, a little curious as to why he would care so much about where she was going to go. She mentally shook her head and started walking again, hoping to cover up her balk.
"I'm not sure, Daemon" she said carefully. "I...might stay for a bit, but I'm not sure if I'll blend in well." She gave him a glance before continuing. "I don't deal well with groups."
She cleared her throat before asking him a near mirror of the question he asked her. "Will you stay there, welcome or not? Who knows if your home is how you remember it....I know mine isn't."

Daemon still walked by her side, being with Ruff the past few days made Daemon a little more at ease with himself, be able to feel more comfortable about himself and his life thus far. The talk of that she might stay for a bit made him happy in his heart, Ruffian had been the first one he came across since he decided to go home. He jsut felt...so comfortable around her.
She didn't deal well with groups either? Daemon had a hard time with them usually, one of the reasons why he left the Pridelands in the first place, he jsut felt lonely and out of place there all alone without any blood family there. His tail flicked to the side as he considered her question, hmmm...
"Well, to be honest, I think I would stay..." he said trailing off, trying to think of how to put things in words, he stopped moving when she stopped, so he wouldn't go too far without her. His eyes looked into hers as he tried to explain his answer though it was hard for him to state clearly in his head, "the Pridelands was where my mother went to give birth to me, to give me a safe home...I left after I lsot her but I think...that perhaps going back there might sooth my being so to speak. I haven't done well on my own, I don't get along in large groups, but I want to break that habit, become something better then I am..." he looked away for a moment, his ears falling back a bit.
"I don't think I've made my mother proud with how I've been living since she's been gone..." he basically though he was a disgrace to his mother, everything was his fault, he still blamed hismelf on the inside for losing her in teh first place.
His turned his blue gaze to ehr again and smiled, "Besides, it would be better to stay there...if you had a friend with you...wouldn't you agree?" he was referring to her, but slightly, he didn't want to pressure her to do what he would like her to do. Ruffian was her own self, it would be her decision in the end.

Daemon had said enough, enough that Ruff fell silent, pondering on what he had said. Why break a habit that was a piece of your core being? She wasn't sure, but then again, she wasn't sure if she'd ever feel the same about her old home. She had seen it invaded, destroyed, and it broke her heart whenever she thought about it. Her home would never be the same, in her heart, and she had always been scared to go back, to see how it was now. It was one of the few deep fears in her life. To go back home.
"I guess it would be easier if you had someone that you knew with you." She flicked her tail, not making the connection that Daemon was speaking of. "But even so, it might be harder then you think."
She glanced over at him again, meeting eye to eye. "Just realise that it might be rough trying to integrate yourself back into there. I guess...I can wait to see if you fit yourself back into their community. I won't abandon you at their doorstep."

He watched her, a smile upon him, Ruffian seemed to have two sides to her...sorta. When he first met her, she seemed strong, confident, knowing of what she should do, looking out for her own well being, but there seemed to be a softer side as well. Daemon was glad he was being able to see it.
Daemon knew it might be hard, to rejoin a pride that he left so long ago, it probably had gotten bigger, most (if any) woudn't probably remember him at all. But he could still try, and the thought of Ruffian staying to make sure he fit in all right was reassuring. Though deep down he hoped she would want to stay there as well.
"I would really like that...it means a lot Ruffian..." he looked his gaze to look in the direction they had been headed towards, they could be there soon. He wanted to get there fast, but another part of him was holding back, wanting to spend more time with Ruffian. It was nice to just spend time with her.

Ruffian swishes her tail again, her pace matching his as they gained ground on their goal. The black mistweaver was concerned on how her friend would take it if no one really wanted him to be there. It was doubtful, for the Pridelands were known to be a very welcome community, with open arms to everyone. But even so, the brightest lights cast the deepest shadows, and she knew that there would be some that would stir conflict.
She just hoped that the two of them would slip through that conflict unharmed.
The lithe female gave her companion a nod, sure that he was ready for what was to come. Why should she doubt him? He seemed ready, and she didn't want to pick away at the confidence that he held.
"We should be there within an hour or so." She said matter-of-factly, just giving him an update on where they were, roughly.

Daemon kept up right next to her, tail flicking behind him with each step, blue eyes set on the path that lay before them. He and Ruffian would be there soon, only an hour? But....that could mean, that in an hour's time, Ruffian might be gone. Back on her way to her home, or going somewhere else.
"Only an hour?" it was more of a statement then a question, he didn't want this excursion to end, he didn't want Ruffian to leave. Ruffian was the first who had talked to him since his hard times, the first to stay with him for a little while without lots of questions, they both ahd their secrets, but they accepted that it seemed.
"Ruffian...can I ask you a question?" he asked, looking at her with calm ice blue eyes, perhaps she would not want a question, but he did have one for her, though he had to admit, he was a bit nervous.

Ruffian never liked questions. Not open ended ones that Daemon was asking him right now. They could turn to anything, and uncertainty ones something that Ruffian hated. But she would have to trust him. She could always refuse to answer what he asked. There would be no harm in that.
She paused a bit, before giving him a nod. "Alright, then. What is your question?" She didn't move her head to look at him, just kept her straightforward glance to their destination. Perhaps it'd be harmless, nothing more then the jitters of him returning to his birthplace.

Daemon continued along next to her, wondering how to put it in words, she had said she wouldn't abandon him their, but if they got there, and he was accepted with opens arms, where would that leave her? "When we get there...if they allow me to stay, and things go well...will you stay too?" he wanted to add 'with me' on it, but it was a strange question for him to ask, afterall, they had only met recently. But Daemon would like it if she was there too. Who knows, perhaps she might like it there.
He wasn't sure if he should've asked it or not, but it seemed like the probable thing to do, afterall, if they were to gte there soon, he would find out soon if he could join the pride once more. But he wanted Ruffian to stay there, stay with him, "I'm sorry...if it was too bold to ask..." he flicked his tail and apologized in his strange way, afterall, he didn't want to put pressure on Ruffian, none at all.

Ruffian's heart stirred a bit as he asked something of her that she'd never expected. He actually wanted her to stay in the Pridelands? She knew that they were a warm community, but she had never known warm, or even what a family could be like. She didn't know, or think, that she would be able to fit in. For how would one such as her ever get used to that?
She kept walking though, her stance unchanged. She didn't want Daemon to know that there were stirring in her heart.
"Perhaps, Daemon. I don't much like my future based on 'what ifs' and 'why nots'..." She glanced over at him, a more sad then grim look on her face. She didn't want to promise him anything, for she didn't know if she'd even be able to blend in well.

Daemon turned his head to look at her, ice eyes just watching her walk, that expression on her face. Her words were true, no future could be fortold so soon, he still just wanted to ask her, to make sure he got the chance. "It's alright, I just wanted to let you know...that I'd like it if you stayed," his gaze then went to that of their path at the moment, a silence overtook him as he tried to think of something to say, but couldn't find anything.
True they had just only met, it seemed now that what would decide what might happen between him and Ruff, their friendship, would rely on what happened once they reached the Pridelands, if he would be accepted with a warm feeling, then perhaps Ruffian might stay...he would love it if she stayed.
So deep down he hoped everything would work out alright, everything would be fine. Who knew, the future could not be foretold so easily, their fate rested on their choices, soon he might know an answer. Until then, Daemon would savor this time with Ruffian, every second of it.

Ruffian felt a chill roll down her spine; not of something bad, forboding, but of the uncertain future. For once in a very long time, she was nervous of how the future would be. Whould she stay with him? It was something to be decided on a whim, she determined, not of something that she needed to dwell over before the situation could be handled.
But she thought too much right now, and only gave him one more soft spoken breath before she fell silent. "We are nearly there. I will follow you, Daemon, and we shall see just how the Pridelands are from how they are in your memories."
And with that, she led him towards the marker that would declare then in the lands of the pride.
