I can't really help with the tampon problem because I use pads. I think pads are better. They are easy to use and they don't hurt. I just don't like the idea of using a tampon. I don't like a lot of pain.

If you are small, that can often happen. As a small person (5'3"/125lbs), I've had the same problem. If possible, try a smaller absorbancy. If that doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you. If you have trouble getting them out (which could cause pain), I'd say keep them in until they are fuller with blood, which could make it easier.

First off, make sure you're getting ones that are a good size for you, and also remember that taking them out before they're full can be painful (when they're full they normally pretty much slip out when you pull, IME).

BAD idea. Continue to change them frequently. Toxic Shock Syndrome is not something to play around with and better safe than sorry. Although the idea of getting a smaller absorbancy definitely can't hurt.

Also, height/weight size doesn't necessarily correlate with v****a size. A petite frame doesn't necessarily equate to having issues inserting things.

But if you truly want to avoid it, going back to pads might be the best thing.
