ok so! our school's band had this competition in Missouri last weekened and after we performed we had to watch other bands. Well there was one band i can't remember their name and their theme for their show was... RENT!!! I was so amazed! They did Seasons of Love, Take Me Or Leave Me, and Rent. They even sang "will i loose my dignity" and i was about ready to sing along with them. oh gosh it was the best. if anyone else was at this competition or if you are part of the band who did that show please lemme know!!!

I've seen/been in a lot of choirs and shows that have done a RENT medley... Fun stuff. I wasn't at this competition, though.

Last year, the choir did Seasons of Love but i wasnt in it then. And an awful singer got solo #1. rolleyes This year, my friend's dad's choir is doing the same song. And ever four years, the same friend's opera company does La Boheme. They JUST did it last year, RIGHT before RENT came out, so I'll have to wait another 3 years before I can see it. -sigh-

My choir did that a couple years ago. I would have done a solo (I WANTED to do a solo, even though at this point I was unfamiliar with the show), but I wasn't a senior, so I couldn't. Solo's were reserved for the warbley and airy seniors as opposed to the talented sophmores!

Haha. My choir sang Seasons of Love last year, and we were supposed to do Love Heals, but I was the only one who got the music for it. Whoops. redface
And for an eighth grade choir only performance, we got to pick any songs we wanted... I was scheduled to do Today 4 U (By myself) Over the Moon (Backup) Take Me or Leave Me (Maureen)
Yeah. We were all obsessed with RENT. But alas, my choir teacher had to be hospitalized, and so the concert got cancelled.
It was fun for rehearsals though ^^

We're singing Will I and Finale B in chorus for the winter concert...it's fun doing RENT, but it pisses me off to the extreme how little respect most of the kids have for the show. I mean, they call themselves fans of the film, but then when we watched it in class they spent the entire scene of I'll Cover You talking about how gross it was that Collins and Angel kissed, they nearly had my chorus teacher skip Over the Moon, and they obviously didn't take time to understand the plot at all, given their explanation of ATZ to a confused classmate. I was really helpless during I'll Cover You, though. I can't even begin to comprehend how you can say you love something and then so obviously not have gotten these blatant messages out of it...

Yeah... my school likes to deprive us of all things joyous. {also known as RENT XD} I go to a catholic school *gags* so they think that if we do anything related to sex, we'll all go to hell. -___-
{{note: I have nothing against catholics. This is just the view of my school.}}

Missouri, eh?
That be where I from, yo.
And actually, I was talking to this person on DeviantART, and they said that at a band performance, one of the bands (that wasn't theirs) had RENT as their theme. I asked them if the band sounded any good, and they replied that they didn't actually get to hear them, but they saw the shirts they were wearing.
Our choir did Seasons of Love for graduation last year though. I wish they'd do it this year... since I graduate... >_< Oh well.
But yeah, sorry my post wasn't much help. But it's ironic! We could be referring to the same band! 3nodding

There was an extremely small marching band from Gallatin County, Kentucky that I saw at Nationals. They played "Rent," "I Should Tell You," and another song, but I can't remember what it was. It was hard to hear them because they were only about 30 members big (if you don't know much about marching band, the ideal size is at least 100 members).
