(Hi. first post)
So I've been told this at many forums. Apparently, Sakura has only become stronger because Sasuke's "been away."
Um yeah. Isn't Sakura getting stronger so she can help save Sasuke? That's why Naruto's trying to get stronger.
So why do people place these accusations? Does loving Sasuke really make Sakura weak?

I would disagree to that. Loving Sasuke doesn't make Sakura weak. Does liking Sakura make Naruto and Rock Lee weak? No, I don't think so.
During the Chunin exam in the Forest of Death, Sakura was left to protect Naruto and Sasuke. She blossomed in those episodes, making her stronger. She grew up mentally during all those times, and that had a lot to do with Sasuke. She acknowledged Naruto and how great a friend/teammate he is. She was determined and still is in bringing Sasuke back. She realized her feelings for him and that all those don't make Sakura weaker.
In fact I think that Sasuke is one of the main factors that make Sakura stronger, and how he developed her personalities.

Loving Sasuke does NOT make Sakura weak. Not at all. In fact, it makes her stronger. Her love for him is one of the key factors that is currently driving her to continue training so that she can become even stronger to save him. And if people think her feelings for Sasuke make her weak because she cries.. that is the lamest reason ever. Sakura is human; humans have emotions; emotions are normal, not weak.. no matter what the shinobi rules say.
And Sakura doesn't even cry as much as she did in Part I. Judging by Chapter 319, she only cries when she's alone. [Excluding the time she cried after Sasuke left. That was perfectly understandable. But even then she was strong. Remember her words? "You know, crying isn't going to bring Sasuke-kun back!"] Why? Probably because she doesn't want Naruto to see her upset; she doesn't want him to regret not being able to bring Sasuke back.
Sakura 'liking' or 'crushing on' Sasuke doesn't make her weak, either. She was always trying to impress him, right? And impressing him motivated her into sharpening her skills as a kunoichi.

I agree. My friends and family always say crap like "Sakura is so lonely when Sasuke goes away that she just does everyone else and is a big whore."
I'm not sure of that had to do with anything but it pissed me off that they could say something like that. Loving someone does not make anyone weak.

Kaira.nin-chan, I love you so much! Your reasoning reminds me of myself. Same with you norngpinky. Prepare to read. Sakura is my favorite character so Im pretty emotional about this. I hope you dont mind reading my long posts. Ive just been gone for so long.
As we have already know. Human's have emotion, and emotions are normal part of life. And as we know, women are emotionally driven. If your haveing a bad day, you will notice. You depressed, your sluggish. You happy, your hyper. Its fact. And when you lost something, and you feel you need it back, your do whatever it takes to be strong. Sakura never wants to put herself in a postion to be the damsel, not even when Sasuke was around. She wanted to show how good she was.
Sakura being held back by a crush? Thats is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. That "Crush" made her decided to get stronger to able to bring Sasuke back. In the forest of death, her dedication towards Sasuke, and appreciation towards Naruto, made her strong. Made her emotional. She was scared that if she wasnt strong enough, she would be the cause of their death, and she knew she couldnt let that happen. Her FEELINGS make her stronger.
Just as Naruto said, fighting for the ones you love make you stronger. And Team 7, yes all of Team 7 is a team that relys on their Emotions to win. Naruto and his determination, Sasuke and his drive to his goal. Kakashi for his past, and Sakura for everyone. For herself, For Konoha, For Sasuke. Thats the way that I see it.
And crying?! Crying shows that you are truely affected by whats going on. By something that had happened. Crying doesnt make you look weak, it shows how affected you were by something. When she cries you know its bad. She cries when she is worried someone is going to die. And like Kairi.nin-chan said, she cries on her own. Makes a lot of sense, she told that she wanted him back. And he couldnt. So therefore, he would feel horrible if she cried all the time. And her emotions make her a powerfull person to cover up the way she feels. Such as smiling when she said, and laughing when she is scared. And jumping in front of a kunai for the ones that she care about. So when she cries, she is just being human and letting out her distresses. She hides them in Part two, by my thoughts, because she doesnt want Naruto to feel horrible for not being able to bring him back, because she understands that he couldnt, he beats himself up over it way too much, and she is being just normal Sakura and trying to make everything seem alright.
Loving Sasuke makes her Emotional. Which makes her stronger. In a sense loving him has made Sakura who she is today. If she wouldnt have fallen in love with him, then she wouldnt have been as emotional when he left, and she wouldnt feel the need to get stronger to help bring Sasuke back, therefore she wouldnt have gotten trained by Tsunade to become a MASTER in Taijutsu. And being said to be maybe stronger then Tsunade is saying that she isnt weak. So if they are saying that she is weak now, and that her love for Sasuke makes her weak, Id really like to know their definition of weak.
PS. Id really like to know how she is a whore. She is dediacated fully to Sasuke, and if they think her spending time with her best friend is her being a whore, then Id say 100 percent of people everywhere, are whores.
And there. I think Ive ranted enough for one session. Got out most of my issues with that. Thanks for posting it, though I have probably killed this discussion with a fully layed out answer for everything, and probably just strained everyone at the guild's eyes. O.O.

Love is what drives Sakura. Her every effort to become stronger is derived from her desire to protect her teammates; to bring Sasuke back. I agree that it makes her vulnerable at times, but like Kairi said, being emotional is being human. And being human is exactly the type of character Sakura is.
She becomes stronger because of Sasuke, and for his sake.

She's a "whore" because she loves Sasuke when she should instead be in love with someone who DESERVES her-- ex. Naruto or Lee. She's just a prize to be won after all. Who cares about her feelings? rolleyes But seriously, that kind of logic really pisses me off. Sakura isn't a prostitute. Her love for Sasuke shouldn't just be thought of as a "crush." It's ridiculous! Sure that might have been the notion before hand, but what about all the moments afterward? What about Chapter 181?! RAAAAA. On another note, I'd like to know how people mix up Sakura's dedication with "obsession." -_-

Loving Sasuke is what makes Sakura strong, in several ways. That's what I believe.
One - Sasuke has always been her motivation, though not the only one. At first, Sakura was training to impress Sasuke, but to no avail. Sasuke was only slightly furious since she was the only one Kakashi praised for her superb chakra control. The only time in Part 1 Sasuke acknowledged her skill was when he said she was the best in genjutsu in their group. But otherwise, her motivation to get stronger was that she could be better in Sasuke's eyes.
Her motivation tweaked a little when Sasuke left, but Sasuke is still the reason why she's been training her butt off all these years. She's not training to impress him anymore, she's working so that she can bring him back. All that drove her to become the best she could was the thought that she had to help Naruto get Sasuke back, and to do it, she needed to be stronger than she was then.
Two - loving someone like Sasuke isn't easy. Sasuke's always rejected her requests for dates when they were in their more carefree days, but she still somehow persisted to ask him out. This continual rejection should have made her stop liking him, but instead, she looked beyond this rejection and the shallow part of Sasuke to see that Sasuke isn't a perfect person. She looked beyond and somehow managed to love the broken inner Sasuke, the one who refuses to get close to anyone for fear of losing them, more than the outer Sasuke, the one who is smart and strong and handsome - all admirable but shallow traits.
Her emotional strength is seen in this, since she's been so in love with him for quite a while. She should've given up on him, especially that time when she tried to stop him when he went away. There were so many times when she could've said, "Sasuke hasn't treated me the way I want him to - I could easily go to Naruto and get the treatment I want." But no, she stuck by him and loved him all the same, despite Sasuke's attempts to push her away. She is strong that way - she held out on Sasuke.
Three - Sakura's always been the emotional foundation of the group. Any foundation of a building is supposed to be strong, and Team 7 is strong not only because of Sasuke and Naruto's strength, but because of Sakura's emotional guidance. She's been the one always trying to pull them together and lead them through the right path, even if she doesn't suceed most of the time.
If she wasn't strong emotionally, then she would've broken down when she was left alone in the Forest of Death when both boys fell unconscious. But she didn't - she tried to be stronger and protect them. Her inspiration was Sasuke, Naruto and Lee - she wanted to be stronger for their sake. And she grew as a kunoichi then.
Her love for Sasuke also saved him - she gained the courage to run up to him and stop him from staining his hands by killing Dosu. If that isn't strength in itself, then I don't know what is.
As for the obsession/dedication note, this is what I got from the Net:
Dedication - complete and wholehearted fidelity; the act of binding yourself (intellectually or emotionally) to a course of action
Obsession - A persistent, repetitive, and unwanted thought. Cannot be eliminated by logic or reasoning; Recurrent and persistent thought, impulse, or image experienced as intrusive and distressing. Recognized as being excessive and unreasonable even though it is the product of one's mind. This thought, impulse, or image cannot be expunged by logic or reasoning.
Dedication is what Sakura harbors for Sasuke. She feels the need to always stick by him and give her whole to him - even wanting to throw away her life in Konoha for a life helping him with his goals. If you look at the definition, it is definitely what Sakura feels for him. Dedication is devotion - and she devoted herself to him. She knew the consequences of her actions, but she still pushed on and tried to give herself to him.
She WANTS to be with him. As seen from the definition, obsession is unwanted, but we don't see Sakura trying to push away the thought of giving herself to him. She isn't unreasonable - she knows Sasuke needs the care that she can provide.
Therefore we can come to a conclusion that dedication and obsession are two very different things, and it's dedication that Sakura feels.

no.. i dont think having feelings for someone or loving someone will make you weak. it'll actually make you stronger if you want to protect that s.o.s or to keep them safe. but i'll have to say that it depends on what kind of person you are.
