Chapter 1 - A Girl of Broken Hope

Heather sat there on the sidewalk, crying still. "Why?" She asked herself as she barried her face in her hands, "How could they do that?!" She screamed as she punched the ground in sadness, anger, frustration, hate... Her heart hurt. "I wish... I WISH I COULD GET AWAY FROM HERE!!" she yelled to the sky and looked back at the ground. "I wish Sonic and the others could be here. I wish I could go to their world..." she said cry her dream. She didn't know it, but as she was whispering to herself, a bright light shined in the sky, and out came some sort of machine. It had someones face on it.

Shadow was ontop of the ship. Where had that portal taken them? He didn't use Chaos COntrol, so how did they get here? He looked down from the ship at the small buildings below. It wasn't a city. More like a neiborhood. He then spotted a girl. What was she doing? She was on her hands and knees. Was she hurt? Why did this matter to him? He looked around, She was the only one here. He shrugged and jumped down from the ship, and landed behind the girl. He didn't say anything. He only listened.
"Why.. why can't I get away from here...?" Heather whispered.
Shadow looked at her confused. What was she talking about. He looked at the spot she was looking at. He saw that drops of water had hit the ground. He saw another fall from her face. She was crying. WHy? Should he say something? He was about to, when he heard her speak again.
"I would give anything... I just can't stand it here anymore..." Heather cryed. She didn't know why she felt this way now. She was so hurt.
Shadow was only staring at her. Something must have hurt her. What could he say? It was silent for a while. He looked up at the ship to see that it was still floating there. Eggman must have seen them. He looked at the girl again. He began to think. He dissapeared and reapeared in Eggman's ship.

Shadow appeared inside Eggman's ship and walked up to a huge chair in the center of the room. "How did we get here?" asked a robot who was yellow. He looked up at the chair. It turned towards the robot to reviel Eggman. "Someone here opened the portal. This power our scanners are picking up. ts coming from a human." Answered Eggman. "A human?' Questioned Shadow. How could a human have done that? Did he have the Choas Emrelds? "Yes, and from what I can tell, a child."
"A child?" repeated Shadow. He thought about that girl. Could she have done this? "Yes. I think we should go find this child. His power could help us." Eggman grinned evily. He figured this power could be more then the Choas Emralds. Shadow looked up at Eggman, "How do you know its a he?" He asked.
Eggman looked down at Shadow with confusion. "Are you saying it might be a girl?" he asked. Did Shadow know something he didn't?
Shadow nodded. "Yes. It is possible if could be a girl, right?"
"Do you know something, SHadow?" Eggman asked. If he knew where this child was, he needed to tell him.
SHadow nodded and pointed outside the ship. "Just below us. A girl." He said simply. Eggman looked out the ship, and saw someone below on the sidewalk. She was the only one around. It must have been her. "Good work Shadow." said Eggman as he looked at him. "How about we go give her a little greeting?" He said with a smerk.
Shadow followed Eggman as he got into a small hover ship. Shadow appeared ontop of a street light to watch.

Heather was still crying, but not as much anymore. She was only sitting there with a blank stare. She felt so hurt, so misserable. "I only wish to get away from here.." She said. That was her only wish. She wanted it to come true now more then ever.
"Are you alright my dear?" Said a voice from above her. She looked up and saw Eggman in a floating ship. She jumped to her feet and backed up with shock.
"Don't be frightened." Eggman said, "You seem hurt by something. Are you alright?" He asked again. Heather only stared at him, not trusting him. She knew who he was. "DOn't act nice with me." She said. "I know who you are."
Eggman stared at her suprised, and so did Shadow. She knew them? how? "Really?" said Eggman as he acted like nothing happened. "Then I guess I don't have to introduce myself. Whats your name?" He asked.
'Whats he up to?' Heather thought. She decided to play along for now. "Heather." She answered.
'Heather, huh?' Shadow thought. There was something about this girl. He could feel a power within her.
"Heather." Said Eggman, "Its nice to meet you. Is something troubling you? I couldn't help but over hear what you said." Heather stared t him confused. He heard what she said? ABout her wish? How did he get here anyway? "So, you want to get away from this world? I believe I could help you there." He said. Heather blinked and looked at him with wide eyes. What did he mean? Why help her? What did he want? "Why would you help me?" She asked. Something didn't seem right. Eggman grinned. "My dear, i help all those that are in need of help." he answered, sounding sencer. Heather saw right through it. She put her wrist on her hips, "Hm! Yeah right." She said, not believing a thing he said looking to the side. "What do you really want?" She asked looking at him from the side of her eyes. "Are you still after the Choas Emralds?" she asked, closing her eyes, grinning sort of. WOndering what his reaction would be.
"Hm?" Shadow looked down at the girl. She knew abotu the Choas Emralds? WHo was this girl. Did she have some Choas Emralds?
"If thats what you're here for, you're out of luck, 'cause I don't have any." Heather said, keeping her eyes closed as she looked somewhat at the sky.
Eggman flinched. This girl knew alot. How? They have never been in this world. "And Sonic isn't here either." Heather said looking at the ground. She only wished. "Oh, I'm not here for the Choas Emralds, or for Sonic." he said. It was true. He didn't even know how they got here. But was sure this girl was the one who made the portal.
"huh?" Heather looked back at Eggman, "Then what are you here for?" She asked. This wasn't making sence. "I'm not all that sure myself. But I would like to know if you would like to join me." He said. It didn't sound like he was asking, because he wasn't. Even if she refused, he wasn't giving her a choice.
"What?" Heather said confused and suprised. Why was he asking her to join him. Ha! Like she would. "What makes you think I would join you?" she asked as she crossed her arms. "It could be a way to help you escape this world. That is what you wish for, right?' Eggman asked. He could see she wasn't going to give in anytime soon. He looked up at Shadow. He would deal with her if she refused.
Shadow looked at Eggman at the corner of his eye. He knew what he was thinking. If Heather didn't coroperate, then he would have to make her. Though, he felt she would agree. SHe said she would do anything to get out, and this was her only way.
Heather looked at the ground as she set her hands back at her side. A way out... That was the answer! but.. was this the right way. SHe thought about it. She was willing to do anything, but... "No.." She said, not looking up from the ground. "Huh?" Eggman said a little suprised. Shadow blinked and looked at the girl suprised. he was sure she would agree. "I want to get out of here, but not if it means joining forces with you!" She said as she looked back at Eggman. Eggman was beginning to feel annoyed. "I'll give you one last chance. Join me and get out of this world, or stay here forever, and let whatever is hurting you, keep on causing you pain." He said to her. AGain, he wasn't asking. Heather thought again. She looked down the street towards her home. She felt her heart hurt again. She put her hand to her chest as she thought. 'I want out of here more then anything..' She thought, 'But i don't want to join Eggman!' She thought for a moment, and came up with a plan. She could lie, and say she was joining him, and once she was in a diffrent world, she could escape. She looked up at Eggman like she was serious, and put both hands behind her back. "I'll join you." She said, crossing her fingures, and resisting the eirge to laugh.
Shadow rased a brow as he saw her agree. He noticed both hands behind her bach and didn't believe her. He dissapeared and reapeared behind her, and saw her fingures crossed. He grabbed her arms, holding them behind her. Hard. "Mean it." he said in a plane tone. "Ah!" Heather winced in pain from how Shadow was holding her arms. She looked back at him. She was caught. "Let me go." She said struggling. "I'm dissapointed, Heather. I was sure that you were join us. But those weren't questions. So, I'm afraid I'm going to have to get rid of you." He said with an evil grin. He wouldn't detroy her, but this would be sure to make her join them.
Heather gasped at the sound of getting destroyed. she looked up at Eggman, angery. Shadow looked at Eggman confused. 'get rid of her?' That wasn't part of the plan.
"Unless," Eggman began, "you join me. Or become my prisioner." He said with those two opions. No one would want to be a prisoner. So he was confident that she would pick the first.
"hm." Heather said nearly laughing with a small grin. "Being prisoner sounds better then joining you." She said looking at him from the corner of her eye. Shadow grinned a bit from amusment. This girl had guts. Though her disisions seemed stupid. She must really want out. Why? What made her so miserable that she would want to leave? He looked down the street where she had looked before. He could hear some yelling with his sensitive ears. Her parents? He looked at Heather and saw sadness in her eyes. This was making him curious.
Heather's coment now made Eggman very angry. "Have it your way." He said trying to still remain calm. "Shadow! Take her to the cell." Eggman demanded. Shadow nodded as he still held Heather's arms behind her. He pushed her forward so he could get ready to go to the ship. Heather struggled. She still wasn't going without a fight. And this was hurting her. "Let me go!" She yelled again. But Shadow said nothing. As They aproched the middle of the street. the large ship in the sky came down and hovered next to them above the ground. Shadow grabbed Heather and jumped onto the ship. "Stop! let go!" Heather yelled struggling.
"Heather!!" Called a voice from down the street. You all looked over and saw Tanishia running towards the ship. "What the heck is going on?!!" she yelled as she stopped on the sidewalk. SHe saw that Heather was getting kidnapped! "Looks like we have a guest." said Eggman. "And it seems she has seen too much. Shadow!" He said calling to Shadow. Heather's eye's widened. She knew what this ment. Shadow grinned as he dropped Heather on the deck of the ship(which hurt since he was floating). The two robots, one yellow, the other gray, came and each grabbed one of her arms to hold her back. "Tanishia! Run!" Heather yelled as she struggled. She didn't want Tanishia to get hurt. Or anyone.
Shadow popped infront of Tanishia, and Tanishia jumped back from suprise. Shadow helded up his hand infront of Tanishia, and a blast of window flew out of his hand and hit Tanishia and she flew back and hit the ground hard. "Tanishia!!" Heather yelled. She began to think, but couldn't. She wanted to save her. "Let... me... go..." She said as she let her head hang a bit. The robots looked at her with some confusion. Shadow began to walk up to Tanishia again. Ready to attack once again. "I said... Let.. me.. GO!!!!!" Heather yelled as wind like a hurrican blew around her, blowing the robots back, and she began to glow light. She was breathing heavily and saw Shadow about to attack Tanishia again. "SHADOW!" She yelled.
Shadow stopped with shock as he looked back up at the ship, and saw Heather. His eyes widened in shock. "DOn't you hurt her!!" Heather yelled as she flew at Shadow and did the same attack as him, and blew Shadow throuhg someones fence, and he slid on the concret. Heather had landed infront Tanishia. Breathing Heavily. She fell to her knees, feeling tired. "Heather?!!" Tanishia exclaimed as she helped her up. "Tanishia." Heather began to say. "Go... Go warn everyone. That you guys might be in danger. Go call the police.. or something." She looked over and saw Robots coming from the ship, and saw Shadow getting up. "I'll hold them off if i can." Heather said. Tanishia looked shock, scared and confused. "GO!" Heather yelled to her as she looked at her with serious eyes. Tanishia nodded and ran back to Heather's house.
"Not so fast!" Eggman said from his ship as he shot a missial at Tanishia. Heather jumped up and caught it, and threw it up into the sky and it exploded. "I said, DON'T HURT HER! DON'T HURT ANYONE HERE!!" Heather yelled with anger at Eggman as she floated in the air. Shadow was looking at Heather. Where did this power come from? He saw she was getting tierd. He saw that the other girl was gone. He looked up at Heather again. Her power was going down.
Heather was breathign very heavily now. She felt her vision blur and she fell from the air. Shadow quickly ran under Heather and caught her. She was unconscious. "What power." Eggman said. "She must be the one who brought us here. Her power will come in handy once we have all the Chaos Emeralds." he said as he began to chuckle. SHadow was still looking at Heather. What an amazing power. he couldn't believe that she got him in one shot. He picked her up and jumped onto the ship. The two robots were still on the ground with dizzy anime eyes. Shadow only walked passed them and went to the lower deck where cage cells were.

Shadow threw Heather into one of the cells were, instead of bars, it was a strong glass cage, that way if she uses those powers again, she wont escape.


(I hope that's an okay story(it's only the first chapter and stuff))

Chapter 3 - An Untapped Power; Sonic Arrives

"A girl?" Tails asked with confusion. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Cream and Cheese were all sitting in the yard of Chris' house, all sitting under the shade of a tree. Sonic nodded, "Yeah, it was really weird." He said and looked at his hands, "I didn't only see her," He said as he thought, "I could talk to her, and feel her." He said as he remembered the girl hugging him. "Thats crazy." Said Knuckles who was leaning aginst the tree trunck, arms crossed. "It was only a dream, you probably only THOUGHT you felt her." he said. Sonic looked at the ground. "Maybe.." He said, and noticed a small wet dot where Heather's tear drop fell before he woke up. It was still there. "Look." Sonic said. Everyone looked at his hand, they saw the tear still there. "So?" said Amy. She thought it would have been from anywhere. "This tear," Sonic began to explain, "She was crying. Before I woke up, she told me her name and a tear fell. This is it." He said. Everyone looked at SOnic with shock and thought he could have been crazy. But they believed him. Knuckles didn't. This was crazy. But he was intrested. "Why was she crying?" He asked. Sonic looked at Knuckled, then at the ground again as he began to think. "I'm not really sure." He addmitted. "But she told me.. That Eggman was in her world." He said serously as he looked at everyone. "Eggman?!" Everyone said at the same time with shock. "That explains why its been so quiet!" Tails said. "Where, Sonic?" Amy asked. WHere was this girl. Who was she? sonic thought for a moment and shrugged a little embarassed. "I... Don't know." He said with a nervous laugh. Knuckles sighed, "Then how are we suppose to go after Eggman if we don't know where he is?" he asked, a bit annoyed. He still things all this was a dream, and there was no girl. Sonic looked at the ground with worry, "I son't know... If only I could talk to her again. Then we could find out." Sonic said. Knuckles was getting annoyed, he growled a bit, "Sonic! It was only a dream! Why are worried over some girl who wasn't even real?!" He yelled. Everyone except Sonic, looked at Knuckles with shock at his outburst. Sonic didn't respond, he only continued to look at the ground, "No, Knuckles. It was real. You weren't there. You didn't talk to Heather..." Sonic said. He couldn't help but worry. Heather was so hurt in her eyes. And there was something about her. He could feel it. "Heather?" Tails questioned. He knew her name? Now he knew Sonic couldn't have made this up, they never heard the name Heather before. It never entered their mind. Sonic looked at Tails and nodded.
"Heather?" Knuckles repeated. That was pretty name. He had to admit, not even Sonic could make up names like that. Could he have really talked to someone while asleep? how? Now he was intrested in this mysterious girl. "Where were you guys when you talked to her?" Knuckles asked. Everyone looked at Knuckles suprised. Now he wanted info? SOnic thought for a moment as he scratched his head, "I'm not sure. It was dark everywhere. The only light was were I woke up to see her." SOnic answered, now confusing himself. Everyone now had an anime sweatdrop and sighed.

Heather was punching the glass. She had been doing this for hours now(while Sonic and the others were having their conversation). Her fist were red, and hurt, but she wouldn't give up. Shadow was watching her as she puched the glass. He saw she was getting teired. Very teired. 'Why doesn't she just give up?' Shadow thought. "Give up. You're not going to break out of there with your weak punches." Shadow said. Heather continued to hit the glass, "I*punch punch* wont *punch punch* give up!" She said as she punched the glass. 'I can do this...' She thought, 'I have to get out of here!' She wasn't going to just sit here like a prisoner and let Eggman get away. SHe had to find SOnic. Some how she had to talk to him again. Tell him where she was. But, where was she?
Shadow shook his head, what was up with this girl? "This cell is indestrutible. You're not getting out, so live with it." He said. She couldn't keep this up forever, and she would only wear herself out. And they couldn't have her weak. Heather continued to punch, "It doesn't matter what you say, 'cause I'm getting out of here!" Heather said. She punched the glass harder, and it hurt her hand. It sent a vibration through her arm, and she winced at the pain, but did not stop. She punched and punched again. Harder and Harder. 'I wont give up...' She thought. 'I'll never give up...' As she was thinking this, she didn't notice that the glass was beging to crack. 'I'm not going to let Eggman hurt anyone..' She thought as she continued to punch. SOmething was making her stronger. A power was building up inside her. Shadow stared in amazement as the glass was cracking. He backed up a step as it broke more. He couldn't believe it. He looked at Heather. He saw an arora of light beging to sorround her. 'I can get out..' Heather thought and a long crack formed on the glass. 'I believe I can..' The cracks grew longer. "I.. wont... QUIT!!!" She yelled as a light shot from her body like beams and flames. She punched the glass one last time, and it shattered everywhere. Shadow covered himself with his arms. Once the glass stopped shattering. He looked at Heather with amazement. What power! It shattered the their strongest cell! How? How did that power build up? Where did it come from. This girl.. She could be the strongest human alive from what he knew. Heather was breathing heavily. Her fists were red, and one of them scratched, and bleeding slightly. The light was still sorrounding her. She looked up at Shadow, and half grinned, and half smiled. "See? Told.. Told you I would get out.." She said. Her vision began to blur. "You can't keep me trapped... when it comes to protecting those I care about.."She said in a slight whisper of weakness as she breathed heavily. She wanted to pass out. But had to get out of here. She stood up straight as if she was fine. "Was that cell all you've got?' She asked, arms crossed. SHadow smerked. This girl had guts to keep going. Why was she so stubborn? Her words rang in his head. '"You can't keep me trapped... when it comes to protecting those I care about.."'
"I thought you wanted to get away from here." Shadow said, "Why are you fighting to stay?" He asked.
Heather thought. She was so tiered, her vision was so blurred, she couldn't even see her hands clearly. "I... I don't know.." Heather said. "Because I can't let you guys harm anyone here." she said and looked at Shadow. He looked like a Blurred figure. She was still breathing heavily, and the light was still there. "I know what you guys are pretty much up to." She said with a serious look. "I know what Eggman did in the past. How... in the last world you were in... I know what happened... some of it... I can't let Eggman 'cause destruction here." She said as she wobbled a bit. She wanted to fall so bad, but still stood there, trying to seem strong. "And I'll go past any obstical you through at me!"
Shadow only stared at her. How did she know so much about them? Why protect the world she wanted to escape so badly? Did her exaughstion effect her brain? He grinned. "really?" He said. "Well, here's your next 'obstical'." He said and looked at her, "Me."
Heather blinked as she felt her legs shake more. She had to fight Shadow? 'oh... damn...' She thought. She was too teired for this. "Fi...Fine.." She said as she stepped forward, only to fall, nearly unconscious. Shadow caught her with one arm before she could hit the ground. He knew she wouldn't be able to fight. He looked at her from the corner of his eye. She looked beat up. The light arora faded, and she was only herself. Her powers beat her up. She looses so much energy. It was stronger then last time. How did she get stronger? Heather was slightly conscious. She couldn't see a thing except blurs. She felt so weak, she couldn't pick herself up. She couldn't even lift her head. She never felt this way berfore. She noticed that she was being held up. It was Shadow. He caught her? He wasn't attacking or anything. 'Thanks...' She thought. She couldn't bring herself to talk. But she couldn't just stay here. She began to think. Even if she could get out. What would she do? she needed to find Sonic. She knew she couldn't fight Eggman alone. She looked up at Shadow from the corner of her eyes. He was only standing there, keeping her from falling. Was he waiting for her to regain strength? Why? She struggled to stand up, but couldn't move her feet so she could regain balance. She was shaking from feeling weak. She never felt so weak. It made her angry and sad. How could she do anything if this kept happening to her?
Shadow looked down at her. He could feel her shaking. She was still trying to stand? Was she still thinking about fighting him? She was determand. But if she kept this up, she could end up hurting herself even worse. Possible loose her life. SHe obviously didn't know when to rest. He looked at the broken cell. What could he do with her now? He could just set her in a room, but once she was healed, he was sure she would run. That ment he would have to keep an eye on her.
Heather moved her leg under her more. She tryed to pull away from Shadow, but cound't lift herself. 'Darn it! Why am I so weak?' She thought. She didn't want to be so weak. How could she protect anyone if she couldn't even move? Shadow grinned, "You don't quit, do you?" He asked while Heather was still trying to lift herself. Heather looked up at him, "I told you, I don't give up.." She said weakly. Shadow looked down at her, "You still plan to fight me?" He asked with some amazement. She couldn't even move, and yet, she wanted to fight? Heather was looking at the ground with a small smile, but felt beaten. "If I have to." Heather answered. Shadow closed his eyes and smiled, "Idiot..." He whispered. She was strong. Not her power, but her spirit, no matter how stupid she could be. Shadow pushed her off his arm, nearly to her feet, and punched her in the stomic. HEather gasped for breath as she was hit. She slowly fell unconscious, falling forward once again. And everything went dark.
Shadow caught her again as she fell. 'Sorry Heather, but you're not going anywhere. I need you in order to complete my mission.' Shadow thought, and picked her up with one arm, and hovered in the air a bit so he would not drag her. He caried her into a large empty room. There were a few machines, but not many. Shadow landed on the ground, and gentle placed Heather on the floor.

Heather was still unconscious, even in her dream. 'I can't believe this!' Heather thought, 'I keep passing out! I thought I was amuned to it.' she began to laugh a little. She was smiling at least. She sat up and looked around. She was in that dark place again. but... It seemed lighter then before. She sighed, '"Sonic... Where are you?"' She asked, holding her knees close to her chest. '"I can't do this on my own."' She said sadly. She stretched her legs out in front of her, putting her arms straight behind her to hold her up. '"I can't believe I broke that glass like that."' She said confused and amazed. She looked at her fist. The one that punched the glass when it shattered. It was scratted and had a few dry blood stains. '"Still bleeding.."' She said and set her hand on the ground again. She looked up at the dark sky of nothing. '"HOw can I talk to him again. I never told him where I was.. But how would he get here anyway?"' She wondered, beginging to loose hope. She smiled, '"They'll find a way. I know it. I believe in them."' Heather said with a smile. A light started to shine from her. The room or where ever she was began to grow a bit brighter around her. The light shot like a beam out of her, even in reality and dissapeared as it left this world.

Sonic and the others were still sitting outside. They hadn't said anything for a while. They were all lost in thought. It was so strange. This girl, Heather. Where could they find her? "This is hopeless." Knuckles said as he stood from the tree. "We're just sitting here over nothing!" He said as he began to walk away. "Knuckles!" Amy called after him, "How can you be so rude? What if this girl needs our help?"
"Thats not my problem." Knuckles answered bluntly. He had more important things to do then think of some imaginary person. As he took another step forward, a beam of light fell from the sky, and hit the ground in front of him. Everyone gasped and looked at the light. It began to swirl and form a portal. Sonic stood up and ran up next to Knuckles infront of the portal. "What is this?" SOnic asked as walked up to the portal. he stuck his hand through and pulled it out quickly. It seemed safe. Knuckles was just standing there, stunded with amazement. What just happened? This light came out of nowhere and BAM! Where did this thing lead? Amy and Tails walked next to SOnic. "Is it safe?" Tails asked. Sonic looked at it and smiled. This could be fun. "Only one way to find out." He said as he jumped into the portal. "Sonic!" Tails called after him as he jumped in too. "Hey! Wait for me!" Amy yelled as she jumped in after them. KNuckles snapped out of his thoughts and decided, what the heck? ANd jumped in too. Cream hesitated. She decided to stay and tell chris about this. Hopefully the portal would stay. Boy, was that thought wrong. After Knuckles jumped in and after a moment, the portal faded away.

Shadow saw the beam of light shoot out of Heather's body. "What was that?" He wondered and looked at her. She WAS unconscious, right? Heather groaned as she started to awaken. Shadow only stared at her. Was she up to something. Heather sat up and rubbed her head. She still felt pretty weak. She took a deep breath, but it hurt. She put her hand over her stomic and winced. She looked around and reliezed she was in another room. She saw Shadow too. She stood up, only to feel dizzy, and she nearly fell, but caught her balance. Shadow grinned, "you might want to take it easy. Or I might have to knock you out again." He said. If he needed to he would. They needed her in better condtion then this. Heather looked at Shadow. "Just try." She said. What could she do? The same thing kept going over and over in her mind. If she won, what would she do? What if she became too tiered to move again? Shadow grinned. Was she serious? He shook his head. She was crazy, "I don't get you." He finally said. Heather looked at him confused. "You wanted so badly to get out of here, and yet you fight to stay. Why?" He asked. This made no sense. He heard her say it herself. He remembered when he saw her:

'"Why.. why can't I get away from here...?" Heather whispered. Shadow looked at her confused. What was she talking about. He looked at the spot she was looking at. Heather looked at the ground and looked away from Shadow. He wouldn't understand. Shadow saw that she wasn't going to answer, but wasn't fighting the question either. So he asked another. "What made you so miserable that you wanted yo get away?" Again, Heather didn't answer. She turned her back to Shadow. She looked out a window to the sky. Why was he asking this? It was none of his busness. Why did he care anyway? "What happened between you and your parents?" Shadow asked with his final question as he walked up to her. Heather's eyes widened at the mention of them. Her heart began to hurt. She put her hand to her heart. She put her other hand on the wall as she wanted to cry. "Thats none.. of your busness..." Heather said griting her teeth at the pain of thinking about it. She turned to face Shadow, "Don't even mention that!" She yelled as she started to cry. She fell to her knees, buring her face in her hands. Her parents... Images flashed in her head. Them yelling. WHat they did.. Shadow only stared at her. Why didn't she want to talk about her parents? What happened? Did they die? SOme accedent? "What did they do to hurt you?" He asked. He was very curious about this. "I heard them yelling before and--"
"Shut up!!" Heather yelled. "I told you its none of your busness, so just drop it!" she cryed. She didn't even want to think about them. "If they hurt you so bad, why continue to try and stay to protect them?" Sheadow continued to ask questions. Heather was getting angry. "I said drop it!!" She yelled as she cryed more. "Please..." She whispered. She just didn't want to talk about it. Shadow didn't say anything. He still only stared at her. He didn't understand her. He couldn't get the question out of his mind. Why help those who hurt you?

A portal appeared in the sky above Heather's neiborhood. SOnic came falling from the sky, screaming as he headed for the ground. He landed on a pile of grass that had just been mowed on someones lawn. Tails came out of the portal next, and started to fly. He sighed in relief, glad that he could fly. Amy came out next and grabbed Tails feet. Tails began to panic as he flapped his arms, and they slowly decended from the sky, and landed on the ground. Knuckles was the last to come out of the portal. After he did and began to fall from the sky, the portal dissapeared. Knuckles began to glide down, and landed safely on the ground. Sonic popped out of the pile of mowed grass. "Plah!" He said as he spit grass out of his mouth. Everyone sorta laughed. Sonic dusted the grass off of him, "At least I didn't hit concreat." He said with relief. he looked around. WHere were they? Sonic walked out into the street. "We must be here. in Heather's world." Tails said as he looked around. "Now that we're here, where is she?" Knuckles asked, arms crossed. He started to feel like it was a waste of time. Sonic shrugged. He didn't know. "At least we're in her world. Thats a start." Sonic said.
"So we just have to look fo Eggman's ship, or any sign of Robots." Tails said. He was sure, from what SOnic told them, That Heather was being held prisoner. So, if they find Eggman, they'll find her, right? Sonic nodded, and looked at everyone. "Lets split up, and once we find her, contact eachother." He told them. "And how will we do that?" Knuckles asked. Tails smiled, "Don't worry. I was sure we would have to split up on some sorta mission soon, so.." Tails gave everyone a comunicater watch. "Always thinking ahead Tails?" SOnic smiled, "Thanks." He said, giving him a thumbs up. "okay, lets go." Sonic said, and ran off into town. Tails took to the sky to start and see if he could see anything near by. Amy ran towards town as well, looking in most of the neiborhoods along the way. Knuckles was still standing there. Why did he come anyway? Well, he was here. Might as well look. He climbed the wall of one roof of a house, and began jumping roof to roof, until there weren't anymore houses, and headed for the towns near the foot of the mountains.

Heather had stopped crying a while ago. She was now looking out the window, trying to figure out where she was. From what she could tell, she was close to her high school. 'Good. I know... some of the way home from here.' She thought. She knew Shadow was behind her. Shadow was staring at Heather, deep in thought. He was standing near the door to the room, but he felt nothing to worry about. She wouldn't escape. He still couldn't help wondering, why? Why was she risking herself to help those that hurt her? "I still don't understand." Shadow said. He felt he had to know. He was very curious about this. "If they hurt you so much, why help them?" Heather got angry again. Why did he have to keep asking? "You were beging to leave this world, and yet you want to stay and save it. Why?" Shadow asked again. "Thats it, I'm outta here." Heather said with some anger as she headed for the door. As she passed by Shadow, he grabbed her arm, stopping her. Not moving from where he stood. "You're not going anywhere." He said, looking at her from the corner of his eye. Heather tryed to pull her arm away, "Let go!" She yelled. Shadow didn't flinch. He held her arm tight in his hand so she could not escape. He wasn't going to let her get away that easily. "Let go!" Heather yelled again as she tryed to pull away again. Shadow tightened his grip on her arm and threw her to the ground. Heather slid a bit, and sat up slightly, her arms holding her up behind her. She looked up at Shadow. 'Darn it! I guess I do have to fight him...' Heather thought. But she couldn't fight. She knew how strong he was, she could only hope. "Did you think you could just walk out of here?" Shadow asked, arms crossed. She didn't think it was going to be that easy, did she? Heather stood up. If she had to fight, she would. She had to get out of here, and warn everybody that they are in danger. She attempted to walk by again. Shadow watched her from the corner of his eyes. Was she stupid or something? Opparently. He would have to knock sense into her. As he went to grab her arm again, she spun around, dodging his hand, and continued walking on. Heather looked back and smiled. Shadow was staring at her kind of shocked. But smiled. He didn't see that coming. But she was not getting away.
Heather ran up the stairs. Looking back once, and didn't see Shadow following. Heather ignored it and once she made it to the upper deck, she looked around. 'I think this is one of his, "Egg carryer" ship things' Heather thought as she ran over to the edge of the ship. SHe froze with fear as she saw how high up she was. Heather was terrified of hights. only if she was REALLY high, and there was a posiblity of falling. And there was. She backed up a few steps. 'Definetly not leaving that way!' She thought. Shadow appeared behind her. "Going somewhere?" He asked. Heather gasped from being started. She jumped back while turning to face Shadow. Unfortunetly, she stepped too far back. She began to fall. Shadow gasped as she started to fall. He ran at her, and grabbed her wrist before she was out of reach. Heather was now only hanging there. She was looking down. Frozen in so much fear. She thought she saw her life pass before her eyes when she fell. She was so scared, she couldn't feel her heart beat for a second. Shadow pulled her up, back onto the deck. Once Heather was back up, she was still frozen with fear. She was staying close to SHadow. She couldn't move. Shadow looked down at her. He saw her fear. 'I didn't know she could look more afraid then hurt.' Shadow thought. Heather snapped out of her fear, and looked up at Shadow. She blushed a bit, and stood up. Backing up a bit. She turned and began to run, but Shadow grabbed her wrist, stopping her once again. She was looking at the ground. She couldn't get away. If she was to try, she would either have to jump off the ship, or find some kind of flying thing around here that could take her down. Shadow saved her.. She couldn't believe it really. "Thank you.." She said in a sort of whisper. shadow only stared at her. She was still trying to run? He could tell that she was shaken up over what just happened. He didn't respond to her Thanks. Heather was greatful that he had saved her, but that would not stop her from escaping. She tryed to walk away, but Shadow was still holding her wrist. She tryed to pulled away, but Shadow only threw her to the ground like before. "Like I said, you're not leaving." SHadow said as he looked down at her. Heather stood up. "What you ment before," Heather began to say, "If I beat you in a fight, I can leave?" She asked as she smiled a bit. Right now, after how he saved her, it was hard to look mad at him, though she was a little mad that he could not be kind enough to let her go. Shadow smerked. "Are you serious?" Shadow asked. "You want to fight me?" he seemed amused by this. She wouldn't win, and yet she would still try. Heather put her hands on her hips. "I hit you before, didn't I?" She said, refering to when she hit him through the fence. Shadow frowned a bit, grinned and said, "Lucky shot." He held up his hand, and sent a blast of wind at her, knocking her back. If she wanted to fight, he wasn't going to refuse. This seemed to be the only way to keep her here by having her unconscious until they needed her power.
As Heather slid aginst the cold metal ground of the Egg Carrier deck, she closed her eyes, worried that she might fall again. But she didn't. She stood up and looked at Shadow. She had to think of a way she could attack him. She ran at him, seeming to be faster then she normally was. She tryed to punch him, but he only caught it in one of his hands. With his other hand, he hit her, sending her flying back and her back hit a machine. Heather slid down the machine til she was sitting on the ground. She looked up at Shadow. He was so fast. She had to be faster. She had an idea, but she wasn't capible of attacking like she thought. She wasn't fast enough or as athletic, or strong. She had to try again. She stood up and charged at Shadow, faster then before. The strategy she imagined worked. As she came in to punch Shadow again, he caught her punch like before. But this time, Heather quickly punched with her other hand a second after he caught her fist and punched him in the face, blowing him back. Heather blinked in amazement. She didn't know she could hit that hard. Shadow stood up, and the fight was on.

Knuckles was running through the towns and neiborhoods near the mountains. He didn't see any sign of this girl. He didn't even know what she looked like! How was he going to find her? But like Tails said. They find Eggman, they'll find her. As clouds passed over head, the people in town began to make a comotion. They were all looking up at the sky, saying it was the biggest blimb they had ever seen. Knuckles looked up and saw it. Eggman's Egg Carrier ship thing. "Found it." Knuckles said as he turned on his comunicator watch. "Guys, I found it!" Knuckles said into the watch.
"Great job Knuckles!" Amy said, her voice coming from the watch.
"Where is it?" Sonic asked.
"Near the foot of the mountains." Knuckles answered, "Hard to miss over here."
"Okay. Try and get onboard and see whats going on." Sonic said, and Knuckles turned the watch off. Knuckles ran through town until he got to a high school. It seemed to be the tallest building in the area. He climbed to the top, using his gloves to go through the wall and pull himself up. Once at the top, the Egg Carrier was overhead. He jumped as high as he could and was able to grab a metal latter at the bottom. 'Idiots.' Knuckles thought as he climbed into the ship.
