Lucid dreaming, in simple terms, is when a person is dreaming and aware of the fact that they are dreaming. During a lucid dream it is possible to control the dream and change aspects of the dream completely. Some use it to aid in astral projection while other use it to perform dream magic. There are some who find that lucid dreaming comes naturally and others will try for many months with no reults. It all depends on the individual.
The key to lucid dreaming is obviously to first realise that you are dreaming. Without this the ability to control you dreams will not come. While dreaming, if anything out of the ordinary that would not happen in real life and is generally anything out of the ordinary could trigger a lucid dream. For some this may come naturally or for others could take awhile to master.
One thing I would encourage you to do if you want to lucid dream is to keep a dream journal. Although writing a journal is tedious at times, it will aid you in dream recall. Not only will dream recall help you analyse your dreams but will also help with lucid dreaming. After all if you have a lucid dream you want to be able to recall what happened, right?
Another thing that can help with lucid dreaming is to read a little bit about lucid dreaming before you go to bed. It helps to remind yourself of lucid dreaming in the first place and that it is possible ^-^
Another thing that I should say. Astral pojection and lucid dreaming should not be confused as they are not the same thing. I have met a couple of people online who have gotten the two confused. For more information on astral projection go to the following link: http://www.jonasridgeway.com
Okay I think that's about all I will say for now. If I think about anything more I won't hesitate to post and let you guys know! ^-^ Also I'm not an expert on the subject so if there is anyone else that is more experienced with the topic I would love to learn more ^-^

Good lesson on lucid dreaming. I'm not a lucid dreamer, although maybe if I worked at it I could be... although I wouldn't want to control my dreams all the time because I kind of like the supprise of dreams when they go where they will.

I supose it would have its pros and cons 3nodding I bet it would be a fun thing to be able to do, as long as you didn't have to control the dream... like if it started to turn into a nightmare you could take control and change it back to a good dream, but still let it go where it would... then I suppose it would be a very useful thing to be able to do. ^_^

I've had very few lucid dreams myself. The first Lucid dream I've ever had was when I was in first grade and I had watched Alien for the first time, and a formal friend told me to just think of how I would want to change the dream if it were a nightmare..
At first it was this alien was wanting to kill me, like in the movie, then I changed it somehow, and it became my friend instead. It was a very small form of control, after that I couldnt do much more then let it play out.
I am aware of when I'm dreaming, I've just never had the complete ability to take complete control of my dreams. There was a time, however, I could force myself to dream of an anime every night <<;;
Anyways, That was a very interesting stack of info, and I'll keep at it myself, I've been trying for a few years now with little progress..

Another way to lucid dream for one night, is to tense all the muscles in your body, and then let them relax slowly one by one imagining that you are stepping into a hot bath. You should slowly begin to slip into sleep with that, and the visualization should help you slip into lucid dreams.
Do this for a few nights, and soon you might not have to.

I have had lucid dreaming ever since I was a child. It's weird but...fun! Although now that I'm a teenager...I am aware that I'm dreaming but I cannot control my dreams...it's as if something or someone doesn't want me to control my dreams anymore. OR my dreams are trying to tell me something that I need to do or solve...but what?

OR my dreams are trying to tell me something that I need to do or solve...but what? That would depend on the dream, and it may be that you are supposed to learn somtihing from them, that does occasonally happen... or it could be accounts of past lives, depending on what you wish to believe. I would say that if you are aware you are dreaming, but cannot change the dream it is probably one or the other... that's why it isn't changeable...
