I read it two years ago, after I found out Lemony's real name, and I saw Daniel Handler on the cover. I was utterly enthralled, and you can see how the writing style is very similiar.

(Although the basic eight is geared to young adults rather than kids).

I was just wondering if anyone is this guild but me has read it.

(Any of you remember me? paradoxical and bluecelebi if he still posts here will... I hope. Haven't posted in a while but then the Beatrice letters came out)

I remember seeing you around. ^^; But haven't read any other of Handler's work. What's it about?

Basically it starts off with the main character (a girl named Flannery Culp) talking about herself and her group of seven friends, together called the Basic Eight. She talks about the past year in chronological order which all leads up to a vicious murder, which the Basic Eight are accused of, and are called a cult and such. Each chapter about the year is broken up by short entries as to where she is now, and how all these articles have been published about her and the Basic Eight, which was originally just a casual friend group but led up to much... much more... muahahahauaha.

It has a very surprising twist ending and is a very good read. Go out and get it from Amazon or something.
