This will take place in an Elven forest. You can be whatever race you want to, and we'll somehow incorporate you into it.
Go ahead and post your characters, then I'll set the rest of the stage (I know this is different than normal, but it;s the way I work, I give a little you give a little, I shape what you gave me into something more and give more, etc etc etc...)
have fun!

Maviri crouched next to the stream with a sigh and started filling her water skin. So far she had not been able to find the pendant. She hadn't really expected to, not yet any way. What did surprise her was she hadn't met up with any others that were supposedly searching for the magical pendant.

The entrance to the tunnel in the mountain came to an abrupt end as Laroc ventured out onto the surface. It was nighttime so it wasn't so hard on Laroc's eyes. Though there was still light coming from behind the mountain the source being a round circle in the sky. He was lucky it wasn't directly above him because if it was, it would be almost as unbearable as it would be if it was the middle of the day. He did like the gentle light of the smaller balls of light he could see. They were almost comforting. But Laroc didn't have time to think about anything other than what he'd come up here to do. He went off to what was said to be north but his sense of direction wasn't of use to him above ground.

Maviri straightened after a while, her water skin now full, and looked around the lush forest. It was quiet, the twilight air was still and a cold was creeping into the air. She set her pack down, the small clearing she had found was near the mountain was just right for what she needed it for: protection to rest and get ready to continue her search in the morning.
She made herself some food from different plants and things from the forest around her and a thing or two from her pack. After eating dinner, she curled up near the edge of the clearing, and rested her head on her pack and fell asleep. She blended in with the surrounding forest almost perfectly, with her cloak completely covering her. She looked like a slighly moving rock, covered with a few branches and leaves from the nearby trees and bushes.

Laroc kept going until he came up to a clearing in the forest with a stream running through it. He took out his water pouch, drank what was left, and filled it again. He looked behind him and in the same movement drew one of his scimitars. He could sense that he wasn't alone. His eyes landed upon a rock that was giving off too much heat for this time of night. Upon further examination, he found that that it was a female elf covered by a blanket. He drew his other scimitar and crossed them both over her neck. "Move and die, elf."

Maviri's eyes popped open as soon as she heard the accented voice of the drow. Her cloak was still over her head, and so it obcured her view. Regardless of this, she felt pressure around her neck and could guess what was there. She silently cursed herself for not letting Jimaer, her little familier that looked half dragon half cat, come with her. He would have woken her up before the Drow got more than 20 feet away. It was too late for that now...
Maviri took a slow, calming breath, and closed her eyes momentarily, "Ok, I am not moving, what now?"

"Who are you? What are you doing here all alone? Why shouldn't I just kill you and go on my way?"

"I am Maviri." she said simply, "And I know things about this forest that no one else does." she blew on her cloak, trying to get it off her face so she could see things, "Would you mind moving my cloak so I can see you? It would be easier to convince you not to kill me if I could see your face." she said a little dryly.

Laroc moved his scimitars so quickly, he cut the cloak, moved it off of her face, and put them back where they were so lethally close to her neck. "Better?"

In the time that he had moved his swords, Maviri had rolled far enough away that she was able to stand unscathed. A long gracefully curved sword, much like the scimiters, appeared in her hand and she stood in a guarded position, "And what of you? Who are you and what brings you to this forest and alone? Don't Drow usually travel in packs like wolves to destroy their prey?" She was surprisingly fast and sharp tongued, even for an Elf. Her blade, though graceful, showed signs of heavy and frequent use. Now that her cloak was no longer covering her, he could see that she was dressed in such a way that she could be ready for anything. Her tunic was loose and comfortable, gathered at the waist by a rope-like belt. She wore leggings and soft-soled boots that made it easier for her to walk unheard. She eyed the drow a little closer and took in the pale skin, "Or are you a drow? You sounded like one...but your skin tells me other wise."

Laroc didn't expect any less speed from an elf. He stood and sheathed his blades. "My name is Laroc. My business is mine to know. All that you need to know is I'm here on assignment. I need no one else to complete that assignment. I am most certainly a drow. My skin is just different from that of others drow as well as my eyes."

"Well, Laroc, this is my forest, and I don't intend to let you wander about it alone and cause havoc." she said in a tone that reminded him of a mother with her hands on her hips. She was still at the ready, her sword still poised to strike. She had been surprised once already that night, she didn't need to be surprised again.

Laroc smiled and chuckled slightly. "Then what do you plan on doing if I up and disappear right now and continue on my way to my target? Do you think that you could find me? I'd like to see that." One moment Laroc was in plain view, the other he was a 500 yards away jumping from tree to tree again headed north. He made no sound as he leaped from limb to limb.
