Kamiss stepped back from his old tavern, smiling proudly. He put the key in his pocket. "I'll be back." He whispered, and a tear ran down his cheeck. He had had many a good time in the Dragon Roost Inn, but it was collecting dust. "How cruel the customer." Kamiss joked to nobody in particular. Then he turned and headed over to the other side of town, where his new building stood proud, taller than any building around. It would never be the same as the Dragon Roost... but this was a new begginning. As Kamiss unlocked it, walked inside, and lit the lanterns, he thought This might just be better

Still aching from the loss of her own Inn, Chobah wandered through the building's open door, as quiet as a mouse. She waited for Kamiss to see her and hopefully recognise her, and tried to piece together what she would say. It had been a long time since she had seen him. She looked down at herself, a little depressed at how unpresentable she looked. A dusty brown duffelbag hung heavily over her shoulder, and the rest of her clothes showed the wear and tear of a long journey with no respite. Maybe here, she thought, I can live again...

Kamiss heard the door open and, turning around, asked: "What would you like to dr--" He stopped short. "Chobah? What happened to you?"

With a smile that was more like a grimace, Chobah stepped forward into the shaft of sunlight that fell through a nearby window.
"It's been a long journey for me. A lot has happened. It's been...rough."
She trailed off, looking around her at the shiny wooden counters, the glistening glasses, all so new, so clean. A new start.
"How have you been?"

"Depends on your point of view. " Kamiss indicated a seat, and sat down across from it. "Less war." Kamiss sighed. "I don't know where Raiynoc is. My old inn is gathering cobwebs. Zero's... gone. Again."

Chobah sat down, heavily, and let her pack slide from her shoulder. "Stupid war...there were signs of it all along the paths. Discarded weapons, decomposing...bodies." She shuddered. "Why must so much go missing in this world? Raiynoc and Zero...when did you last see them?"

"About a year ago for Zero. Raiynoc just took off 5 months ago." Kamiss said, standing quickly. "And you saw signs of war here? I came here from my old tavern, but a few hours before I checked the perimeter. You're the first with this news!!!"

Chobah nodded, almost letting her head fall to her chest, but slowly raising it again. "Yes. Almost on the oter rim of the forest. It didn't reach far in, thank god. Nowhere this close. But I didn't see any signs of life. No tracks, not fresher than a week, anyways. No ashes. I think, for now, we're safe." She got up and walked over to the counter, rummaged underneath for a cup, and glanced around for a water barrel.

Kamiss pointed to the water. "It's marked with the YXY symbols." He looked out the window. "I'll be right back. I need to check that out and inform the town leaders." He shook his head. "This town hasn't seen war in over 10 years."

Chobah nodded, filled her glass, and sat back down, sliding down in her seat until she was almost horizontal.
"Such a long time. I wonder why they stayed away from here? Unless..."
She shook her head, hard, almost spilling her drink. Then she drank most of it in one swallow. She looked up at Kamiss with sad eyes, and nodded. "Go. You need to tell someone. If what i'm thinking is true, the the town will need to be on guard."

Kamiss nodded. "Be right back. Help yourself to anything you'd like." Going outside, Kamiss leaped onto the roof, then jumped to other roofs, effectively moving quickly in the direction of the Head Guard's house. Leaping off a particularly tall building, Kamiss thought Let's see if I can still do this. Hurtling through the air, there was a flash of blue and a blur, and Kamiss was catapualted the remaining 75 feet in the blink of an eye. "Reyin," He said, running inside, "We have a problem."

Chobah watched Kamiss' leaps through the window, smiling sadly at the thought of more war. She turned to the Inn, deciding to explore the building. Maybe there were hidden passageways. She smiled again, this time actually happy, at least for a moment, and took off slowly down the hall, rapping with her knuckles on the wall.

With his old power recovered, Kamiss made the perimeter check in record time. In a mere 10 minutes, he covered the perimeter of the entire town, and the perimeter of the entire forest surrounding them. He returned, shaking his head. "Chobah?" He asked, stepping in.
