Dark brown eyes scanned the surroundings, it's been a while since they've seen this sight. Mahiri, Bliss and their indian child all went away for a while, just to escape. He needed to think things over a bit, to descover what he really wanted...who he really was. A sigh escaped the now-happy stallion as he blinked, the first blink after disappearing for so long.

Bairn missed her. Although it ate him up inside to admit it, that golden mare that haunted his dreams for so long was becoming someone he actually wanted to see. Of course his sister Aruna was also in his thoughts, Astia just seemed to never leave. The stallion wanted to see her again, he wanted to apologize for everything and he wanted to tell her....everything. About what happened...

Nodding his head, the stallion decided something else, too. If Astia was to actually come by and want to talk to him, he'd tell her how he felt without chickening out this time. The talk he had with Bliss and his mother changed him again...to become the stallion he was before his outburst on the mare.

Astia quietly overlooked her surroundings, her once elusive smile full and happy on her face. Her bright, bright green eyes seemed to be lit from something deep inside. Happiness. Or denial? Whichever it was, Astia was happy to feel that little shudder, to feel that chill that touched her so long ago..
The summer had been brutal, of heated battles of humidity that made her want to drown herself.

It was time for a new start! Her hooves gently clipped th grass as she felt herself moving forward, focusing on that cloud in the distance, or the bird in that tree. Anything to keep her mind of things. Or, correction, thing. Him.

Damn, now she was thinking about him. The mare just really didn't know how to feel anymore. Part of her was still madly crushing on him, while the other was beging a stubborn mule and saying she should rip his throat out next time she saw him.

But yeah.

It was no use, he thought to himself. He had been gone for so long, many things could have happened during that time. The land had grown more crowded, so finding her would be harder....and what if she found someone else..someone better then him. It would tear him up inside if that was the case, he couldn't stand to see something he cared for so deeply be gone forever.
Just about to give up, a sound came towards Bairn, rather the sound of someone came. Another soquili? Perhaps it was her? Or Aruna, at least? They were still friends, right? Maybe his sister knew where Astia was.
Not wanting to startle whomever was coming closer, Bairn stood there, pretending he didn't know anything that was going on. If they wanted to talk, they'd approach him, if not...well, if not then whatever, he'll just go find someone else.

Her smile grew wider as the weak Autumn sunlight gently shone on her coat, making it glow even more. She felt about as bright as her coat was, and her head dipped grateefully towards the sunlight, and her eyes close in a blissful representation.

Shaking her broad neck free of leaves, she opened her eyes again and looked around. And saw Him. Even though he was merely a rather large blur in the distance, she knew. She knew it was him. Her smile came to a sudden halt, and her eyes grew wide, and then narrowed.

"Bairn." Her voice was hoarse and ragged, and as she breathed that single word.. that name out, she realized she had been holding her breath. She had always predicted if she saw that horse again, her mind would simply blow up with confusion and emotions.

But it did not. Infact, her mind was.. blank. Completely and utterly, empty.

Turning to try and catch a glimpse of the approaching creature, his eyes widened. It was her, finally after all this time he got to see her again. A big smile appeared on Bairn's face as he stared directly at her, wanting to run to the mare...but figuring it was too childish, he stayed where he was.
"Astia! Astia!" He called out, voice completely filled with silly joy. But noticing that she felt rather....emotionless upon noticing him, Bairn quickly got quiet. She didn't want him there, he could tell...she was still mixed up about the incident that happened before he left.
Oh, but the joy of seeing her beauty again kept him from leaving his spot and running away. If she wanted to talk, let her approach him.

Astia eyed him flatly, only flicking her tail slightly, distraught on what to do. He seemed happy to see her again.. but that stubborn side was too strong. Her coat still glowed, but her eyes did not. "Hey, Bairn." Again, her voice was hoarse, but quieter, now. The mare looked at him reproachfully, almost daring for him to make a move towards her. Almost begging for him to come running to her.

Almost.

That smile, though. It was the first time in a long time Tia had seen the brown stallion reveal his happiness. But why was he happy to see her?
the glowing mare silently let his statement run through her head.. he did love her, didn't he? He had said that, hadn't he? Or was it just a dream?

If only she had fingers to pinch herself with.

She didn't care, he honestly didn't care about him...he could tell by the way she looked at him. Had he screwed up that badly in the past? Oh, if only he could change what he did so none of this happened. Letting go of his dignity, the stallion took off running towards her, only to stop two feet away. Just staring into her eyes, Bairn spoke.
"Astia, I'm so sorry, so so sorry. I really, really am. Astia, I've been away for so long and it taught me something about myself. I've missed you, I..." He paused for a breath, realizing he just rambled on. She didn't want to hear any of this, all she wanted to hear was what he didn't want to say, but had too.
Leaning in close, the stallion nuzzled Astia softly and whispered. "I'm not going to run away anymore, Astia. I love you."

Her mind did actually explode. Astia hated it when she was right. Her eyes widened, and she just stood there for a moment, speechless. She had.. dreamed, of this. Of having a lover. Of being loved and knowing she was.

He had run towards her. Out of love. Out of pure love. Her eyes still the size of dinner plates, her entire pelt shuddered, and only a gasped whisper emmited her throat, "Thankyou.." And she nuzzled him back, weakly, she was in shock.

"I.. I.. love you too.." It was merely a whisper, and if one wasn't waiting for it, it was merely a breeze.

But for the love of god, she would not say sorry.

When his nuzzle had been returned, a smile appeared even bigger this time. Bairn knew he screwed up before, but he was definatly determined and willing to fix whatever he had to in order to get Astia. Pulling away to look into her eyes again, his own where filled with complete sorrow, it seemed as though she'd never forgive him for the past...no matter how much he wanted her too.
"Are you sure?" Bairn asked softly, her words didn't seem very promising. "Because if what I did before is holding you back, Astia I swear I'll do whatever to fix us. Astia, I can't really explain what happened to be while I was gone, but I gained strength, I figured out things about myself with help of my mother and that idiot Bliss. He's not that bad of a guy, now." A light chuckle escaped with the stallion's words.

Astia looked at him, her lower lip wibbling slightly. She wanted to cry, she was so happy. But horses don't cry. "Of course.. not. Of course I'm sure.. you.. idiot." She leaned her head against his, and closed her eyes, overcome with happiness. All her live, it had been flee or fight..And now.. she was loved. And it would end happily ever after. Forever and ever and ever, right? Thats how it went.
"You don't have to do a single thing.. Bairn. Not a single thing. You.. You just did everything I could ever.. want." Her voice was teary, and she nuzzled him again, smiling slightly at the Bliss comment. She loved him.

But horses don't cry.

He looked back at her, with more happiness then he would let himself show. "Good. That's all I needed to hear." Nuzzling her softly as she leaned against him, Bairn looked up into the sky, and with a small wink he silently thanked whoever was up there, watching down over them. Obviously this was meant to happen, otherwise it never would have come over him to act this way.
He loved this mare next to him with all his heart, all the love he could possibly give away, without taking any from his family. Although, the stallion wasn't sure where it came from, it was just there. But that didn't matter, it shouldn't matter. Nothing mattered at that moment.
"Really? Well, I'm glad to hear that. Glad I finally made you...happy for once, my love. So, tell me....was I missed?"
PostPosted: Thu Oct 12, 2006 1:42 pm

Astia looked up at him with a soft smile, as she finally realized how small she was compared to Bairn. Blinking slightly, her look changed to puzzlement as she saw him wink to the sky. What was that? The mare deicded she best not nose into things.
Tia's heart beat was heavy, and she knew, finally, it was over. It was over, and with the best possible ending. A tiny sigh was released from her throat, and she nuzzled his neck.
"Same here. And possibly." The golden mare winked at her brown lover, and grinned.
When was the last time she had grinned?

This was it, he thought to himself again. He had done what he honestly wanted to do, but wouldn't let himself. It now was just going to happen the way it did, he had no control over it anymore...Bairn played his part, now let her play hers.
"What's that? Are you teasing me?" The stallion raised an eyebrow at the mare. "Oh, now you better not be teasing me, or I'm going to have to do something about that." He spoke in a mocking tone, pulling away from her.

Astia smiled and growled playfully towards him. "Why, I didn't think you would figure it out!" She laughed happily, and suddenly rememering something, went quiet. "Your parents..?" Wait, damnit. She zipped her mouth up tight. Surely he wouldn't want them to be mates, right? I mean, it's not like Bairn asked her to be his mate..
She looked down at the ground, blushing.

Laughing, the stallion only shrugged. "I guess I'm smarter then I look, I guess. But seriously, teasing me? That's not cool, you know. I have a tendicy to get...hyper when I'm happy." Bairn joked, making a small reference to his parents.
"My parents what?" He asked her, confused. What about them that he didn't know? "Go, ahead love...my parents what?"
