what is your favorite subgenre or characteristic of jazz?
personally i think i love pretty much every branch of jazz, the only thing i dont like so much is jazz-pop, some swing i dont think is as good as other jazz, and i usually prefer fast jazz over slow jazz.
what are your thoughts?

My favorite style of jazz would probably be bigband from the 50's and 60's and on. Not necessarily swing either although i love a good swinging band like Count Basie.

Definitely Vocal Jazz.
Right now, my state is a stronghold of Vocal Jazz actually. Well, Oregon too.

my fave is either latin, funk, or rock-ish jazz (rock-ish being like chicago)

I'm into way out there stuff too specially if it's arranged for bigband upbeat things as well like Buddy Rich bigband stuff!

It's hard to pick a favorite. I'm so ecclectic so since it's so rare that I find something I don't like I'll name those. xp
I dislike "Free Jazz" where it is too chaotic, and I dislike Candy Dulfer type "Disco Jazz" or whatever you call that stuff...

yeah i like easy listening, but i have to listen to it at the right time or sometimes ill be turned off by it. but then again i also like the characteristic of just fast upbeat complex jazz but i mean theres so much out there it is hard to pick favorites.

Frustrated ...I dislike "Free Jazz" where it is too chaotic, ... yeah i think its a hard thing to pull off but i think wen its done well it can be very good though if you over do it then it can ruin it
