Where had his ambitious incentive gone, he wondered idly... he'd been so energized in wanting to explore this land, his new home... scout for possible dangers, make new friends... but here he was, standing knee-deep and unmoving in a cool river, unwilling to move. A soft sigh befell his mouth as his flamed tail waved idly back and forth behind him, keeping itself out of the water carefully. It didn't do him any danger if the flame was doused, but it hurt like hell.
He shifted lightly, plodding around in the shallow waters and enjoying the coolness on his heated skin below the thick reddish-orange fur. It was sweltering today, and the flame he constantly carried with him wasn't helping him any. Golden eyes turned a glare to the said appendage, as if it could understand his frustration.

Meena nickered softly, ears flicking a little as she looked around her. The scenery was so familiar and yet seemed strange because of the length of time she had been away. Would her siblings have grown as much as she? Were they mated..had foals of their own? And her mother and father..maybe they too had had children once more. All this and more was on her mind as she walked at a gentle pace.
She diverted towards the river as she neared it, her nostrils full of the scent of the water and only catching the stallions a little while after that. She clipped along the bank, curious to see who it was and stopped, watching him - and his tail. Was it aflame? She blinked, moving forwards and whickering a greeting at the same time.

Ears twitching slightly at the sound of another's approach, he turned from his pointless withering glare on the tail that he blamed for his troubles, blinking as golden hues met the gaze of an unfamiliar mare. This one, he noted absently, didn't have wings... he supposed miss Star was just special in that aspect.
A gentle smile adorned his features as he turned to face her and dipped his head in what he hoped was a placating gesture, shifting lightly to accomodate the changing flow of the water around his legs. The last thing he wanted to do was scare off a potential friend in this large land that was now his home... as unfamiliar as the feeling was, he was starting to experience what he considered 'loneliness', being by himself in this new place.
"Salutations," the smile morphed to a disarming grin, hoping to show that he meant no harm.

'Hello,' she said cheerfully. He didnt seem to be someone she needed to avoid, his welcome had been pretty cordial. 'Is that fire on your tail real?' she got straight to the point, eyeing the flaming appendage with open curiosity.

He blinked at the bluntness of the question, although it wasn't at all unwelcome. Chuckling lightly, the said appendage wavered by his side absently as he turned to look at it while he spoke. "Well, yes, unfortunately. I suppose you could say it runs in the family." Golden eyes studied the mare curiously as he turned his attention back to her, head tilting to one side curiously as he placed an inquiry of his own. "My name is Nanaki, although some prefer to call me Red... may I ask your name, miss?"

Meena smiled, flicking her own braided tail. 'Does the fire hurt you? I mean I guess it doesnt, you dont look in pain.' she mused out loud. 'Does it make you warm? That can't be nice when its summer.' She bowed her head when he gave his name, and replied. 'Oh of course. I am Meena. I don't really have any name other then that. It's nice to meet you Nanaki.'

"No, it doesn't hurt, most of the time I don't even notice it's there... but yes, unfortunately, it does make me hot," he admitted, resisting the urge to send another glare towards the firey appendage. He laughed lightly as he shook his head, short mane ruffling uncomfortably as he turned his full attention back to the other soquili. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well, miss Meena. You're only the third of our kind I've met out here, thus far, it is nice to have company."

Meena bent a moment, taking a long drink and then stood once more. 'Well you look hot all the time, what with your colouring,' she quipped with a smile. 'You are new to these parts then? Where did you come from?'

He blinked a moment as he pondered the meaning of her statement, wondering if she knew what she'd just said, but chuckled lightly in sheepish embarassment as he offered a smile in return. "Well thank you, miss Meena, you're not so bad looking yourself." He laughed to himself softly as he bent to take a short drink as well, looking back up as he finished. "I came from an entirely different universe from this one, I think... it's in ruins- there is corruption, pollution, and much bloodshed... and war is tearing the remaining countries apart."

Had she inadvertantly complimented the stallions looks? She actually meant he looked warm because of the hot red pelt. But, well she did concede to herself that he also looked pleasing to the eye. She kicked a little at the ground. 'Not so bad huh?' she teased, tilting her nose upwards as if offended. Then she laughed. 'How did you get here then?' she asked, fascinated by his answer.

He chuckled softly, nodding to her as she raised her muzzle. At her question, he paused to wonder that himself for a moment, golden eyes glazing over as his brow furrowed in concentration. He was silent for a minute, and when he spoke again, his voice was speculative. "Hmmm... now that you mention it, I'm not entirely sure. I know that after Sephiroth's defeat, the Lifestream destroyed Meteor, and..." he trailed off, realizing that she probably had no idea what he was talking about. He laughed nervously, shaking his head with a sheepish grin. "Sorry, I keep forgetting that this place is entirely different. I don't really know how I got here."

His answer was very confusing and she nodded at his latter comments. 'I was born here, my mother comes from around here and my father came from the mountains.' she clipped slowly over to Nanaki, standing in the water next to him and gently lipped his mane, showing her sympathy for his confusion about his past. 'Are you happy here so far?'

He offered her a grateful smile in response, nodding as his head tilted upwards to look into the clear blue sky. "I am, indeed. It's so peaceful here- no war, no fighting, no corruption or pollution... but I'm afraid I'll find myself without much of a cause or a purpose living here. I've grown accustomed to the world that I knew, I can't imagine I'd be of much help to anyone here."

Meena flicked her ears, a little confused still. She wasnt a stupid mare, not by a long shot but she only knew what she had experienced, and the words that he used were very foreign. She had an inkling that his old world had been a bad one, but couldnt see how he would feel useless because they were in a peaceful place. 'Why do you say that? You were strong, a fighing horse back where you came from? Well not all is peace. There can still be problems even here.' she nudged him a little. 'I think you will find a place for yourself here if you take the time to see.'
