Okay, it's true that Christians have tried to convert non-believers, but honestly does everyone else have to lable us as a brainwashing, hypocritical cult?
It seems just about everywhere I go (except here) I see the same damn thing.

Feel free to discuss.

Yeah..its mostly because they met Christians before that weren't living right so they label us ALL as ignorant or hypocrites.. SO bascially the other Christians mistakes make us look bad.. It's too bad they don't see we're just trying to help them...they really don't want to go to hell. I hope they don't..

I will not lie, some of us are indeed, brainwashing, but I certainly know not all Christians are as such. People who view Christians so stereotypically are either ignorant of their surroundings or forcibly avoid religion, thus having such a narrow view on Christhood.

All we can do is live by example dude wink Show them that your not a walking stereotype who's trying to brain wash them.

It is the most painful kind of ignorance to come accross, because not only are you facing studipity, but also a poor lost soul. Pray and set an example. When it comes down to it, it's their choice.

hmm.. well, a good example of this would be 3 of my friends. One is an athiest and into wicca. the other 2 are devout christians.. They're main goal is to get my other friend saved.. It's like they've doevoted their life to it! I'm just like, dudes! Let her do whatever she wants.. Her whole family is like, scientoligist or soemthing.. But I think it's people that do try to "brainwash" non-believers, that give us a bad name... ninja

If they're into wicca then they're wiccan, or at least agnostic (not sure about faith). Atheist suggests no belief in anything.

I think they're goal is a great one - it just sounds like they're tactics are a bit too in your face (from what you said).

Haven Of Blasphemy by Living Sacrifice (A Christian Metal Band):

"Hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared
Deny consideration of the One to be feared
Abandoning the faith to follow spirits of deception
Their unsound teaching produce sowers of confusion
Prophets of deceit the word of God
Sowing wickedness reaping trouble from the rod
Though they claim to be the ones to obtain salvation
Their form of doctrine denies Christ's foundation
Haven of blasphemy
Hollow philosophies
Captives remain unfree
Slaves of depravity, whose destruction draws near
Secretly introduce the lies some long to hear
Hanging over them are the scales of condemnation
A false balance of weighted abomination
Haven of blasphemy"

Honestly I tried to spread the word of God, but whenever I would people would be so mean to me to the point where I would say "grow up, I was just sharing, you can be not intrested and respectful at the same time you know?"

Now I only talk to people that ask about my faith.

Cult movies ftw

You know? I try to keep my faith as a secret. And don't take me wrong. I don't go around saying "hey guys!! I'm a christian!! Glory Glory hallelluja!!! Praise the Lord!!!!!" . I just wait until they see something different in me. they ask me then, and I take that chance to spread the word. It has been working 3nodding exclaim

I understand what you mean, but you shouldn't try to keep it a secret... You don't have to, like you said, go around screaming it at people. But don't keep it to yourself... God isn't a secret, something of selfish want, he is God, and needs to be spread any way possible, as long as the way you're using is actually driving people away.

okay, well, she's INTO wicca.. but she doesn't believe in god.. Like, I'm agnostic... but I still think that they should leave her alone, becuase this friend happens to be very strong headed.. So they're wasting their time and risking a friendship.. But yea
My opinion is that if someone doens't wanna change, DON'T MAKE THEM! gees, people ninja

well, I know from personal experience that it is horrible to be on the recieving end of a religion force-feed. Especially when the person who's giving it to you is a friend that you don't want to lose. The only reason that I am a Christian is because I thought that maybe if I did change my friend would leave me alone and be an actual friend instead of a preacher. Sadly, she didn't change. Though I started going to church and am actually quite glad that I did convert, I hate the fact that I was forced into it. And my friend still preaches to me instead of being a friend. All she ever talks about is church and she doesn't understand why I get angry at her when she tries to tell me that I'm living the wrong way *she goes to an evangelical church and I go to a congregational church*

She still gives me religion speeches and it annoys me to the point that I'm at now where I rarely talk to her. Here's where the moral comes into play: don't force your friend into anything, they will resent you. And if you do force them, don't start beating the horse that you killed.

You remind me of Snape from Harry Potter. ...that's a good thing, by the way. And what you said caught my attention: that it's ignorant of people to label us all at once. There are many different versions of Christianity, because there are many different people, of course! For example, I beleive that Jesus did indeed save us, but also that He does not dole out punishment like some cruel tyrant. He loves us ALL and understands that we make mistakes, and He knows that there is a crucialbalance that must be maintained. Without people to make mistakes, there would be no such thing as perfection, because there would be no suc thing as imperfection. Do you see where I'm getting at?

I agree with both of you.
