Has anyone ever done life drawing before?? I had my first lesson yesterday, and I really enjoyed it. We learnt lots of techniques and used different mediums, did different poses, and we also did an excercise where we drew the pose for 3 minutes, then moved places and worked on top of someone elses drawing. That was interesting. 3nodding

yeah, i did a lot of those over the summer, and every college rep i've talked to so far was impressed with what i came up with. that makes me feel good. the told me that i have an advantage over other applicants because not a lot of high school students gets to do life drawings from models. you're quite lucky too, i must say.

can't say i've really done a life drawing before. i did draw a freind of mine once a few years back, but i dont know if that counts. i tried to get into a figure drawing class not long ago, but i've yet to hear from the instructor, so i'm guessing it's canceled.
that excercise you mentioned sounds pretty fun, shadow. how'd it turn out?

I'm actually taking Life Drawing at the moment. My classes are every Thursday.

All models have been women. I think tomorrow is male.

I've improved a lot ever since I've taken this class, so I'm happy.

I've never drawn a woman..we always have the same guy. It's really difficult to get hold of models, the college was lucky to get the guy we have, but I wish we could draw a woman just for a change..

I agree that you improve drawing skills alot with life drawing. I've improved alot wth the classes; I can master hands! xd

i've done nude model drawings of 3 different females and only 1 male. one of the girl we had had her entire back tattooed. it was quite interesing.

no, i figured that 8 hours was not long enough for me to make a complete painting fully equipped with her tattoos so i just ignored it. mrgreen

8 hours straight? or spread out? if it was an 8 hour session....-bows down to you- my back always starts hurting when i'm drawing for more than like 2 hours at a time.

oh, i've painted from 9 in the morning 'til 10 at night. well, i only had 4 days to finish a 78" x 64" oil painting, and i spent the first day stretching and priming the canvas. it was pain, i tell you.

as for the nude model painting, we had 2 days to work on it. the model was only there the first day. i had to finish everything with a complete background and everything.

wow, that must be really hard for the model. My back hurts after 2 hours because we sit on those artist donkey things.

We do too. My butt goes all sore sitting for 4 hours.

is it not hard to concentrate for so long on something so accurate and detailed? and does the model get breaks?
