So our pianist is going to live with his dad up in Canada for this summer. And we do have one gig lined up before he comes back.
: ( My combo will be sans piano for that.
Anyway, I think the guys decided we'd try funk for this thing.
What songs would you guys recommend?
Btw, I don't have my tenor sax anymore. I had to give it back to the school. Don't know if I'll have bought one by then.
That means all we have is a drumset, bass, guitar, alto sax, and then me on alto, clarinet, or flute : /

Ohhh. Sir Duke ^^ I heard the jazz combo last year at school ( the recording was made the year before that, btw, they graduated, so now its us ^^; ) play sir duke. That was really cool. I also heard a tower of power cover of it

Yeah anything by Tower of Power, Maceo Parker (great for alto), Stevie Wonder would be great. He's not hugely popular yet, but also check out Jonah Smith - "Industry Rule".
The horn break for Sir Duke is really easy cause it's based off of an Ab pentatonic scale on alto (concert B).
