Well, here is the spot of my question.

It's gay pride week here and the GSA is meeting. They are having like a GSA open house prior to, and they welcome various types of people to come and talk there. I was considering making a pamphlet for the CPUSA/YCL that would be the Communist Party USA and the Youth Communist League (I'm a member of the CPUSA but an organizer for the YCL due to my relative youth).

I was thinking of making pamphlets relatively based around what it says in our Party Program (I posted it in the politics forum here) about the LGBT community, and excerpts from an article in the CPUSA's monthly magazine which was a report on "World-wide Pride"

But on the whole, as many of you here are SGA/GSA members and many are members of the LGBT community, what do you think is acceptable? What would you like to hear and see from your resident communist?

I'll take any suggestions,

As a side note, I'm considering joining the GSA (i'm a communter so it makes it hard for me to meet after school hours, as I go home and work at that time).

Thanks for your help!

Well if it's a reflection on the communist party as a whole, I, for one, as well as probably everyone else here, would like to see support for earning Gay people more of the rights they deserve (This we'd like to see from any political party, but since you're here taking suggestions there you go ^^)

Thank you! biggrin

Our party has it's own special section in our party program for the GLBT community, and whenever there's a big rally we try to get as many people there as we can. You can actually be barred from membership for homophobia, and other such things which go against our party program.

Here that section is

Quote:

Gays and Lesbians

Gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and the transgendered—the LGBT
community—face discrimination in housing and employment, lack full legal and civil rights, and are frequently the victims of hate crimes. As do all other people, gays and lesbians demand and deserve full and equal civil rights, including the right to marry.

The LGBT community consists of people from all classes, all sections of the country and economy, and increasingly votes against the ultra-right. LGBT organizations play an important role in many coalitions and are increasingly allied with many progressive organizations and the labor movement.

The ultra-right uses homophobia and attacks on gays and lesbians as wedges to divide its opposition. Using false notions of “morals” and “family
values,” the right attempts to use homophobia to gain allies for its corporate agenda among the working class and other social forces.
Those leading the attack on gay rights also attack labor and advocate slashing budgets for social programs. The real threat to working families is not gay marriage but the ultra-right agenda of maximum profits and war.

Homophobia was one of the weapons of the McCarthy-era attack on democracy, and continues to be called on by the ultra-right in attempts to split the growing unity against the right-wing program. Unity against homophobia and for gay rights is an important defense of basic rights for gays, lesbians, and all people, and is a key to building unity against the broad anti-democratic agenda of the right.

Discrimination in housing, employment, education, as well as hate crimes against gays and lesbians, need to be punishable by law where they are not, and enforced where they are.

I like that rant ^^ , ultra-right is not a good thing, however keep in mind that it's not a good idea to go ultra-left either.

Well our how program is more or less aimed at the Ulta-right until they are pushed from power (which will likely be very soon, and then again in 2 years).

As far as economics go, we'd be from the Ultra-left, but socially I'd say we're just a little more liberal than is commonly seen in the democrats. That is where democrats don't like to touch on gay issues or say that "The states ought to decide", we demand equal rights. It's just a step further, as communists, we are totally bent on the full legal equality of every individual, so it comes naturally.

Oh ok that makes sense, but I was saying before that I wasn't going to accuse you of being ultra-left, I just had to cut my post short cuz my comp science teacher told us to turn off our comps for the test. But anyways I like the ideas you propose ^^
