Pain was not the best alarm clock. But in Demetri's case, there wasn't much he could do about stopping the throbbing in his head. Whatever the Doctor had given him had seemingly worked, as now, the pain was more subtle. But it was still there, and still painful. Ignoring the pain, Dem actually stood up. There was something in the blank room that he was searching for. The small communicator that he had been told to use if he needed anything. The small device could have just been in a dream he had, but it had seemed real enough. In the area where Dr. Hakan was standing, there was what looked like the object that he'd been searching for.
Before pressing the button in order to talk to whomever was on the other side, Demetri heard one last angry call from his stomach. It was most likely morning, and he hadn't had anything to eat in a while. Although the person on the other side said they could just bring him something to eat, he insisted that he was well enough to move around and get the food on his own. He waited for a few minutes, then a man came to escort him somewhere. Why he needed an escort was strange, but he just guessed it was because they didn't want him getting lost or passing out in the hall or something like that. Soon, they made it to a large cafeteria area. The gaurd allowed him to keep going on his own, but there were men at the door and a security camera or two. And that was just what Demetri could see. His hunger came first, though, and he quickly made his way to the food.

Half awake, half asleep, a boy about Demetri's age stumbled along the hallway, still a little groggy from the previous day's events. As soon as he had woken, he knew something had been done to him. A sickly stench filled his nose and mouth, causing him to have to gag several times to rid himself of it. Little did he know the cause was the second gas dosage he had inhaled while unconcious, adminisetred by Dr. Hakan himself.
Not long after, Shawn lay in his bed, feeling to sick to move and too numb to try. He stared loathingly at the food tray that had been placed on the small table in his room, but refused to eat the breakfast offered, despite that he had just emptied his stomach of its previous contents. This must have been noticed, because shortly after that, while he was examining a sore arm, two armed men, presumably guards, unlocked his door and entered his room. Niether reminded Shawn of Hayden.
No questions asked and none answered. They took the boy roughly by the shoulders and shoved him out into the hall, prompting him with their weapons should he have tried something funny.
Darrow frowned, voicing he thought the weapons were a little unnessessary, but neither guard seemed to respond. Like robots, they marched him down the corridor until they reached a set of double doors that led to a huge cafeteria of sorts. Usuring the boy to one of the food tables, one of the guards had a word with a cafeteria worker, though Shawn could not catch the conversation. The worker nodded, and the guard resumed his post with his partner by the double doors.
Feeling the worker's eyes on him, Shawn grudgingly picked up a tray and took small amounts of what was being served. Normally, he might have been excited at the variety of foods, some of which to try in his whole life. However, at the moment, he didn't feel much like eating. As he moved along the line drowsily, Darrow didn't watch where he was going and accidentally tripped, knocking down the person before him, sending both food trays spinning off to one side, the food flung upon the floor.

It took a moment for Demetri to notice that he was no longer standing up. Between the realization and the ground quickly approaching, his mind was racing. He'd have to get more food, since his was apparently falling. Who had bumped into him? Was that person all right? He'd find out once he hit the ground. It was only milliseconds after this that he collided with the cold hard flooring of the cafeteria. Hearing the noise, a few gaurds turned their heads, as if half expecting a fight to break loose. Better than just watching a few injured kids eat food for a few hours. Their jobs got boring unless something relatively exciting happened, and a fight between two teenage boys wouldn't be that hard to stop.
Surprisingly, when Demetri managed to move from his awkward position, there were no curses that escaped him. It could just have been that he didn't know any to use, or something prevented him from doing so. Either way, his words stayed clean and caring. Even with the subtle moaning in between his sentences. "Are you all right?" His eyes finally caught the other boy, who had apparently tripped. Demetri continued to hope that whatever wounds that had brought the other boy to the hospital in the first place weren't incredibly painful. His own injuries were bad enough, but he ignored them.
Whoever the boy was, it seemed that he was around the same age as Dem. It wasn't incredibly odd to see someone who had been alive as long as he had, but Shawn was the first boy he'd seen. Dr. Hakan was great -and he was grateful for him- but he was older by many years. "Not the best circumstances to meet in, huh?" He laughed lightly, trying to soothe the pain in his head by ignoring it. The constant reminder from his head and his stomach told him to go sit down, but he wanted to get some food first.

((Hey, sorry I took so long to reply! sweatdrop RL's kept me pretty busy lately.))
Vaguely aware of his accidental collision with the boy in front, Shawn hit the floor with a dull thud, sliding a few inches and falling nearly flat on his face. His face might have ended up in his food had the trays not gone spinning off in seprate directions, flinging globs of it flying through the air to land elsewhere, attracting the attention of the guards at the doors.
What're they staring at? he thought grimly, glaring at the guards and still finding it somewhat difficult to put together thoughts within his hazy mind. Not like any of us have tried to escape or anything...yet...
Gradually, his gaze shifted toward the boy he had knocked down, of whom Darrow had almost failed to notice. Somehow, unlike the rough streets back home, the blue-haired boy didn't fly into a rage or even seem to get angry at Shawn for pushing him over.
In fact, Darrow almost thought he could hear the boy questioning if he was alright. Him, the guy who had been clumsy enough to practically fall asleep while walking. He blinked in surprise, wide-eyed, as he tried to bring his blurring vision into focus. The question was genuine concern, no sarcasim at all, though he did sound as if he himself had gotten hurt in the fall. Who was this kid?
"Unh...yeah, I'm just fine, but you don't sound too good yourself," he acknowledged the boy, steadily managing to sit up by proping him himself on his hands. Having fallen so many times on rough pavement and grazed himself on brick walls throughout his life, Shawn was hardly fazed by whatever injuries he had sustained. Other than his sore arm, he had no prior injury to add to that he had attained in the collision. It was the funny, numb feeling that still lingered, both in his mind and through his system, that bothered him the most.
He didn't figure he was going to be rid of it anytime soon, but he knew when he was, the exahustion, hunger, and pain would catch up to him eventually. The fall had just demonstrated how weak he had become without even realizing, his knees having buckled under him without warning. They felt like jelly now, just like the whole rest of his body.
Regarding the injured boy, Shawn began to realize they were of a similar age, which was pretty startling considering everyone he had come across so far was at least five years older. He hadn't guessed other kids his age would have so easily managed to stumble upon the island as he had. Then again, perhaps the kid handn't come here by accident at all. Wrapped in bandages, he appeared pretty beat up, though Darrow could not imagine the reason. Surely they didn't beat their prisoners here?
"Heh...guesss not. Hey, uh...sorry about that," he appologized, suddenly remembering his manners and looking embarassed. "I uh...don't seem to be myself this morning...here, let me get that for you." Biting back the urge to inquire on the bandages, Shawn hurried to gather the fallen trays under the angry glares from the cafeteria staff. With some difficulty, he managed to get himself up off the ground and, though he wobbled dangerously, succeeded in returning them before retrieving new ones and absently piling them with as many varieties of food as were available.
Keeping his eyes on the boy, Darrow noted he didn't look all that great and that he was probably feeling as weak as he was, if not more. Growing even more ashamed of himself, he hurried over to a table with the trays before returning to the boy in order to provide assistance if needed. He partially hoped he wouldn't need to, though, as Shawn still wasn't quite as sure on his feet as he liked to be and felt he might fall over again if he attempted to carry more weight.

((It's fine, don't worry. : P This one took a while for me to get to, as well. XD; ))
For a split-second, Demetri thought he saw their food raining down from the ceiling. It only lasted a moment, though, and his eyes only managed to catch a glimpse of the absurd weather before it was completely over. The guards seemed far less amused by the spectacle. They were most likely awaiting something of interest to happen. When they saw that the blue-haired one was unlikely to start a fight -or make it interesting at all- they lost interest and went back to making sure nothing else was going on in the area.
He still found it hard to get up. His next few moments were spent relaxing on the ground. It seemed clean enough, after all. They seemed to be the first ones in the cafeteria that morning, and the hospital most likely had a janitor the cleaned up at night. "Thanks for getting that." He laughed slightly. His strength was slowly returning, enough so that he would be able to pick himself up. It wasn't too much of a hassle to stand up again, so he could ignore the slight pain radiating from under his bandages.
"It's not your fault. I was a little lost in my thoughts." He watched as the other boy went to put the trays down somewhere. With a little thought, he was finally able to see the huge difference in the amount of bandages the two had on. At first, he had just seen that Shawn had one had a few. Then came the realization that he had them all over. Note to self: When almost drowning, try not to hit a lot of things. Luckily, there was something Dem could grab a hold of in order to stand up again. Even if Shawn wasn't showing it, there was a strange feeling that he would be unable to help him much when it came to standing up. That was to be expected from someone who'd just woken up, though. Demetri himself half wanted to go to sleep where he was sitting.
With both arms wrapped around the metal tray holder, Dem brought himself off the ground. It would have been awkward to have both injured boys trying to get him up, so he decided to do it himself. There were many angry throbs coming from his own scratches, scars, and bruises, but he endured them for the few seconds where he was using most parts of his body. "There we go, no harm done." A smile came through the pain, trying to reassure both boys that Demetri was perfectly fine.

"No problem," He answered dully. "And thinking isn't a good enough reason to put yourself at fault, so cut that out." A little put off by the boy's friendly, strangely kind attitude toward him, Darrow slipped his hands in his jean pockets and stared at the ground. He felt unsure of what to make of this kid.
Noting the pain in his smile, Shawn shook his head and sighed. So. Here was one of those guys that would do everything themselves, if only not to save someone else the trouble. What a noble, stupid concept. He was certain if the blue-haired boy tried to do much else, he would only make his injuries worse, and what good would that do anyone.
Abandoning all attempts at mannerism, for it was clear Demetri had enough for both of them, he boldy questioned, "Hey, what the heck type of accident were you in? Not one involving pokemon, I hope?"

"All right." Demetri smiled again, making his way toward the table. The other boy seemed friendly enough, though a little withdrawn. The hospital was all right, after all. But he wouldn't be staying there forever. Once he was better, he wondered, would he ever see this boy again? Would their pathes just split up forever? It was definitely a possibility, he thought. But who knew. The world could be pretty small sometimes.
It was nice to be able to sit down again on something other than the floor. The cafeteria actually seemed like something he would find at a school -except without a lot of children running around and smacking into each other, desperately trying to locate a seat near or with their friends. The only ones in there other than the cooks and themselves were the gaurds, but they didn't make very good company.
He was slightly surprised by the other boy's question, but answered it anyway. After all, he had to have a good reason for asking it. Might as well be straightforward about it. "Well, we're not really sure, but from what I've been able to remember, it's likely that I fell off my Lapras and was knocked out. I just sorta washed up here." Did he have some bad experience with pokemon? Demetri's Lapras was incredibly kind and docile, so he couldn't understand who would be afraid of the creature. "My turn now. What's your name? I'm Demetri."

Shawn frowned as he watched Demetri go over to seat himself at the table in case he might fall. He seemed pretty unstable, and the bandages signified the boy probably wasn't as mobile or agile in his present state. However, he made it just fine on his own, so Darrow followed did the same.
As uncomfortable and quiet as the cafeteria was, Shawn was somewhat interested in its structure. Where the trays were stacked waiting to be taken; where the foods were put out; where the people stood in lines on normal days. And yet, the room was quiet but for the boys. Were they really the only two there?
His attention was drawn back to Demetri as he began to answer the question. "You fell off a Lapras?" The question was asked as if in disbelief. In truth, Shawn was unsure of what exactly a Lapras was, due to his lack of pokemon knowledge, but he understood enough to know it was a large water pokemon that trasported people across water. It would have been enough to explain how he had gotten on the island. Still...two of them? On the same island at the same time by accident? It was too much of a coincidence.
"Washed up, huh? Is that what they told you?" His bitter murmurs were spoken in a low, hateful tone, barely audiable even to his companion beside him. "More likely captured...but whatever..." Looking away, he leaned back and stared at the far wall distractedly.
"I don't know how people like you can trust them like that...what could keep it from just dumping you in the water half-way to your destination after all? How do you know it didn't try and get rid of you and knock you unconcious itself?" Darrow's voice rose in volume steadily, though his tone remained even and cold.
He had become interested in this boy. A pokemon trainer, presumably. He's never really talked to one before; most others looked down on him when passing in the streets of Goldenrod. All he knew of them was that most were rather arrogant with their powerful boasts. How could any of them guess at the true nature of pokemon when they were under the illusions they were their masters? It seemed so wrong. Shawn felt he knew the true natures of wild pokemon. Twisted, cruel, and with no mercy for humans who were not a threat.
"My name?" Jerked out of his thoughts, Shawn shifted his sepia eyes to glance in Demetri's direction. "Oh...yeah, it's Shawn...tired, Demetri?" He looked at him. "Don't look so hot. Don't tell me they dragged you out to eat same as me?"

Demetri was contented by the fact that he'd made it to the table on his own. Just a little while ago, he'd been awoken by the pain coursing throughout his body, so it was a good sign that he could walk correctly without falling. It was only a matter of time before the bandages were taken off. He was still worried about his pokemon, though. Would they be all right? Would they think that he abandoned them? No, of course not. If he really had fallen off his Lapras, then the water pokemon was sure to tell them in the language that only the pokemon knew. Once he was healthy enough to leave, Demetri resolved that he would help to search for his pokemon. They could be anywhere, even on the island somewhere. Dr. Hakan could likely find them on his own, but regardless, Demetri wanted to help as much as he could.
His head nodded, and the boy added an embarassed laugh. "Yeah, it seems to have been that. It would explain the bump I have on the back of my head. That shell is really hard..." It was almost impossible to hear what Shawn was trying to say, so Demetri wasn't able to answer them correctly. "That's what the doctor and I managed to think up, anyway. I may never know what really happened." He shrugged. His Lapras would know, but of course, it wasn't really possible to ask the pokemon when it wasn't there.
"How do I know?" He questioned, for a moment not knowing the answer himself. Then, he finally got the answer. "Ah! It's because Lapras is my friend, and I know it wouldn't do something like that." A confident nod ended his statement. The boy had total trust in his pokemon, most likely because of all that they had been through. His Lapras had always acted kindly to him and everyone else. He'd be surprised if it could hurt a Caterpie. He very rarely used it in battles, but it was great for transportation. Maybe when he got it back, he could train it a little so it would be helpful if he needed it.
Demetri blinked, not understanding why someone would drag a hospital patient to the cafeteria. Did Shawn refuse to eat or something like that? "Sorta, but I'll be fine." Again, he blinked, unable to comprehend. "Actually, I asked them to bring me here. I don't even know how long I was knocked out for, let alone how long it's been since I've eaten anything!"

"Hmm...the doctor?" Shawn frowned. He hadn't recalled seeing or hearing about any doctor. Then again, he had been out cold for quite a while and this was supposed to be a medical research lab. He figured even if they were fake, they couldn't put up a good show without having a few fake doctors around.
However much of Demetri's story was true, however much he had been lied to or was lying right now himself, Shawn couldn't tell. And yet, he couldn't imagine this guy lying to him. What reason would he have? Those injuries must have had to come from somewhere after all.
Upon recieveing Demetri's reply about his pokemon and their trust, he was silent for a little while, staring down at his plate. Resting an elbow on the table top, he leaned his chin on it, picked up a fork, and begun to abesntly push little bits of scrambled egg around.
"Your friend...a pokemon...and you trust it." He sighed and ran a hand through his dark hair. "No wonder you ended up here...and without a clue either." As his peer elaborated on how he had asked the guards to bring him to the cafeteria, Darrow smacked himself on the forehead and closed his eyes. If only Demetri knew.
Leaning forward, he moved closer, speaking in quiet, urgent tones. "Listen, uh...Demetri? Is there anyone else staying here? Besides you and me, I mean?" It seemed eerily silent in the cafeteria with no other seated people but the two boys. He eyed the gaurds and staff warily as he spoke, wondering if they were listening in. "I mean...don't you think it's a little odd, just being the two of us?"
If only he could elicit the slightest bit of suspicion in the boy, perhaps he could get him to see just how deceptive the whole place was.

Demetri nodded, only slightly surprised by the fact that Shawn had apparently not heard of the doctor before. But of course, not everyone could know Dr. Hakan. There was bond to be more than one doctor in the entire facility. And if not, then he might just have been unconscious when the doctor came to visit him. "Yeah, Dr. Hakan." Being completely truthfully in all accounts, Demetri continued to speak about what he knew. There was a lot that he didn't know about the labs, though. His own knowledge of what was going on was incredibly limited. But so far, it wasn't as though anyone had told him anything.
"I trust it as much as I trust any human!" He wasn't angry, but he wished that Shawn could see for himself how kind his pokemon were. They'd formed a tight bond over the years, and the creatures were a part of his family, a part of himself. "When I find it again, then I'll make sure you meet it and see why!" His head tilted slightly. Why had the other boy smacked himself? There seemed to be no reason for it -after all, a lot of people trusted their pokemon.
The other boy seemed to want to tell him a secret. He leaned forward to meet Shawn in the middle, whispering although he couldn't think why. "I haven't seen anyone else, but I haven't been here for that long." He looked over at the gaurds, wondering why they had to keep the members of the staff from knowing about what they were speaking of. "They might not be well enough to get around, though." If he had managed to get to the island on accident, who knew how many other ways people could get there.

Listening only vaguely as Demetri spoke of what he knew, Shawn sat there, growing more agitated by the second. Unfortunately, it was no help, as it was nothing newer than the information he had previously heard from Hayden before the cursed guard had betrayed him. Perhaps he'd meet this 'Dr. Hakan' later. Maybe then there'd be some real answers; not these stupid, pathetic excuses they gave to nosy people to conceal their true goals.
His eyes widened and he jerked back in alarm as his companion suddenly raised his voice, insisting his trust in his pokemon. Still, despite this boy's absolute loyalty to whatever friendship he thought he had had, Darrow found it hard to believe him. "Yeah, exactly." He relaxed, his eyes suddenly dull and cold as they bored into his untouched breakfast. "But the thing is, you can't trust eitherof them. Not pokemon or humans."
He rubbed his head, softening; his expression grew melancholy. "I did just yesterday. Look where it got me. If you're not careful, it'll make you regret it too."
Suddenly sensing Demetri's need for secrecy, he became silent and listened attentively as his friend leaned forward to meet him face to face. After hearing his words, he was quiet for a while, then nodded once.
"I haven't been here for that long either. But I'll tell you one thing, Demi - if no one around here is well enough to get around, they can't all have been in accidents. I mean come on! This is an island, isn't it?! How many reasons can someone have for hurting themselves?" He met Demetri's eyes. "They had to have help. Think about it!"
Sitting back down in his seat, Shawn gave his food one last glance and, ignoring his growling stomach, pushed it toward Demetri. "Here. I'm not hungry. Just pretend I ate it if they ask, okay?" He wasn't going to touch anything they fed them, no matter how good the food looked or how hungry he was or how grouchy his growing hunger made him.

Although his knowledge only reached to what the doctor had told him, Demetri still had not wondered what was going on. The fact that the facility was situated on an island that he'd never heard of before was no cause for suspicion -at least, not in Demetri's mind, anyway. Nothing had happened yet, and there was no cause for speculation. His long rest had been extremely nice. He had managed to get to the island in a strange way, but things did happen. When he found his pokemon again, he'd make sure that he put in a seat belt on his Lapras in order for him not to fall off while surfing again.
His hand shot up to rub his eyes a little. His demeanor stayed the same, but he was starting to feel slightly tired again. It was strange, as he'd just woken up. Maybe it was because it'd been a long time since he was able to get a good night's sleep. There were so many things that he wanted to do while he was travelling, so the boy would occasionally forget things like sleeping. His pokemon received their fair share of rest, but their trainer himself did not, unless he remembered or they sent him subtle hints. "I trust them both, though! It's not as though people and pokemon all have bad tendencies, just some of them." He spoke in a solemn tone and nodded lightly at his own statements. There were those that couldn't be trusted -but unless he had a specific reason not to, Demetri would put his faith in a complete stranger. "Regret it?"
The blue-haired boy blinked, not knowing what he meant by that. Had a pokemon or a human hurt him the other day? That would explain how he got there. It wouldn't really give him a lot of details, but it was probably less embarassing than falling off a Lapras. The other boy really didn't seem happy at all to be on the island, but that was understandable. There was no telling if there even were any other people there other than the two of them. And they had been near each other in age by sheer luck.
For a little while, the pokemon trainer thought about the many ways someone could land on an island. There were so many... And so many more ways they could have hurt themselves. But, if only for a second, a sliver of a thought passed him by. It could be true... The boy didn't acknowledge it, though. It was in his mind, just not anywhere that he could readily obtain it.
Demetri's own stomach gave another irritated rumble once the food was pushed over to him. It had waited long enough. The boy nodded, and he began eating Shawn's uneaten breakfast, however cold it was. The food was actually as delicious as it had smelled before. He was overly content to be filling his stomach with a nice breakfast after it had gone a couple of days without food.

"Let me tell you something," Shawn murmured quietly as Demetri began to eat, putting his worn-down sneakers up on a nearby chair to rest his legs. He stared at them intently, as if they would give him the answer to an unspoken question in his mind. Should he tell the boy his story? Was it worth putting doubts into his new friend's head? Then again, the best thing he felt he could do was probably to tell it the way it happened. Perhaps if Demetri ever got into a smiliar situation, he'd be able to think twice before trusting complete strangers.
"Last night I was...well, I was in my own city." There was no sense in giving out useless information. Why bother with minor details? After all, no one really seemed to care about what city someone lived in if they were homeless.
"It's dangerous around the streets at night, and no one knew that more than I did, but I was only on my way home. I knew the way well enough. I just never expected I'd run into trouble." Darrow carefully neglected to mention his 'home' was a back ally behind some large building corperation as he continued.
"It was a pokemon. I didn't run into it, exactly - I figured it had been following me for quite some time, but when I turned around, it realized I had spotted it and it attacked me with Lick. Clever b*****d..." Darrow swore, the memory still vividly accurate in his mind, along with the overwhelming sensation of fear. Never had he remembered being so terrified of a pokemon in his entire life. "It paralyzed me! I couldn't run very far, but I was lucky I could run at all. I guess all that adrenaline and fear helped my body start moving."
He shook his head sadly. "I was so paniced I couldn't think straight, and I stumbled into the closest, safest place I could find. Which, at the time, happened to be an abandoned old warehouse." Shawn shrugged. "I guess it wasn't as abandoned as it looked. Who knows? Maybe the pokemon used some illusion or trick to make it seem safe. Either way, I fell for it."
The boy rested his head on the table, the effects of the sleeping gas still somewhat active. He closed his eyes, trying to ignore the hunger pangs of his irritantingly empty stomach. It wasn't as if he got to eat every day where he came from. He ought to have been used to skipping a few meals by now. And yet, his senses couldn't ignore that fantastic scent of food when it was right under his nose. the only way to take his mind off it was to keep going. He rubbed his eyes wearily.
"The thing sneaked up behind me. It used some sort of sleeping attack, I guess, because the last thing I could remember was slumping over some boxes, too weak and tired to move. And then where do I wake up? Here, of all places, on this god-forsaken island!" He banged a fist on the table, but in his current drowsy state, it wasn't a terribly impressive gesture. In fact, Shawn was pretty sure not even the guards must have noticed.
"I had been shipped here. It seemed the people that worked here were ready to shoot me down before I had a chance to explain myself. So I ran and ran into the forest, the only place I could find for shelter. Worst of all, the same pokemon that had brought me there had followed. I ended up prefering the labratory's guards over the pokemon. One guard - Hayden - he....he pretended to care..."
Shawn wanted so badly to fall asleep then and there. He wanted to forget his pain of hunger and his brusies from his fall and most of all to forget about Hayden. But he had to finish his story. He had to tell it right to the very end, so that at least Demetri would be able to understand where he was coming from, and most important of all, be warned.
"He seemed like he wanted to be friends. He appologized for my misfortune, and he offered me a place to stay. I had doubts even then, but I wasn't about to take my chances out in the night with wild pokemon alone. So he led me to a room, and I followed, suspecting almost nothing until it was too late."
His closed eyes opened half-way, trailing down his arm to inspect the tiny, unexplainable, pin-p***k injury he had noticed that morning. He hadn't ever emembered getting it, but then, it was more than likely he had been unconcious at the time. "Guess what happened next? Cozy accomidations... friendly, hospitable farewell...locked door...sleeping gas." Shawn almost seemed to grin at his last words. "And not even a word as to why."

Demetri prepared himself to listen intently, though he was slightly preoccupied by the food. A nagging feeling attached itself to the back of his mind at the exact moment that Shawn had said he was going to talk to him about something. Maybe it was a sort of warning to him. Whatever the case, the trainer promised Shawn silently that he'd listen completely to the other boy's tale. His peer had listened to what he had had to say, and now it was his turn. "All right." He nodded.
His curiosity almost made him inquire what city Shawn was from -that was quickly stopped, though, by shoving yet another piece of food into his mouth. He coughed slightly as his throat tried to clear the food from the wrong passage. It was at that time that Shawn began to talk about not expecting trouble. Trouble?
His own meetings with wild pokemon hadn't been the best -though most of them had ended up being kind to him. The pokemon that he usually looked for where water types, and almost all of them were naturally docile. They might follow a human, but only out of curiosity. Not to corner them in a dark alley somewhere. "Are there a lot of ghost pokemon around your home?" He asked curiously. Not many pokemon used Lick and liked dark places -it was unlikely that a Lickatung would be wandering around attacking people.
"Even that, though..." He paused. "It's better to remember, even if it's a horrible memory." His hand migrated to the back of his head, caressing the large bruise on his head with care. "Something bad is better than nothing at all." Whether Shawn thought so or not was not what Demetri was thinking about. It was probably a selfish thought, considering he had no idea what exactly happened in the warehouse the night before.
Dem's eyes widened as Shawn's story came to a close. Why would they do something like that in a hospital? It wasn't as though they couldn't have just restrained Shawn if he'd been delusional because of the pokemon. Sleeping gas filling a room was... More than a little extreme. "Why?" He was half asking Shawn, half just asking to make himself feel better. "I never met this Hayden, but when I woke up, there was a doctor who came. He gave me a shot to help me sleep better, but that's it." It still had yet to occur to Demetri that the shot could have been for something else.
