Armel had taken to walking around at random as of late. The ritual was that he figures out how to ditch various individuals of the household and then gains permission from his Author before leaving. Most days this ritual was more successful than others. Today was a successful day, and this did much to lighten the lad's disposition. While not a social creature Armel found his walks pleasant and often he would find a friend of his or make some new ones somewhere along the way, and while enemies are just as easily made the boy had decided that Doctors were enemy enough for him at the moment.
He wasn't paying much attention to where he was walking exactly, but he knew he was on a random stretch of a sidewalk in the town of Durem. As long as he knew how to get back home the idea of the possibility of eventually getting lost didn't really cross the boy's mind. After all so long as he remembered the landmarks he should be okay...

It was getting late, and the lights below had just begun to start flickering on, casting little streams of brightness on a dull, grey street. It looked pretty from up here, which was perhaps why they flew over the city so much at night. Donny could almost reach down and snuff out each little light with his thumb, he felt.
With a deep breath, he turned his view skyward. "Take us up higher, Frey. Over the clouds."
There weren't many in the sky, but just enough to fly over. Frey silently complied, tilting his rhythmic movements upward to rise in altitude.
With one last, careless look at the city streets, his peripheral vision noticed a familiar figure.
"Oh look, there's Armel." He whispered, before raising his eyes back toward their destination.
3.. 2.. 1.. double take. "ARMEL?" He shouted, pulling Frey back. The horse whinied in surprise, turning his head to glare at the child. His teeth snapped at the hold the boy had on his mane, but Donny ignored him. "Frey, back down, back down! My friend's down there!" He bounced in excitement, and Frey tilted downward, huffing angrily. "If you don't stop all that ruckus, you're going to fall-"
Donny slid right off his back, disappearing into a cloud.
"-off." The pegasi sighed this last word, and followed his pet down, in no real hurry.
"MellomellomellomellARMEL!" Donny chanted as he divebombed toward his friend.

True enough Armel was walking even as the street lights flickered on and the darkness began to try and swallow the land. The boy didn't really care. He purposely managed to leave without having a curfew set upon his shoulders to weigh him down. The ram-horned boy wasn't afraid of the dark! No sir!
He continued to walk until a sound reached his pointed ears causing them to twitch and making him look around. It wasn't just a sound but a voice that was calling ... His name? Armel at first took a defensive stance neglecting to look upwards toward the form of the divebombing Donny. This mistake was to be his downfall but at least it would give Donny a soft landing.
Armel let out a startled, "DON!" before he was suddenly knocked onto the ground and the wind was momentarily knocked out of him releasing a soft, "Heee~..." sound in exhale. The ram-horned boy looked momentarily dazed as he stared up at his friend murmuring softly, "When'd it start rainin' Donnys?"

He had been pretty sure he had time to stop descending before slamming into Armel. But he was wrong! SLAM went Donny, catching Armel in a hug even as they toppled to the ground. He picked himself up carefully, worried that he'd crushed his smaller friend- until he realized his friend wasn't smaller at all.
In fact, though he'd looked tiny from above, now that Donny got a good look at him, it seemed his friend had changed quite a bit.
Donny tilted his head and glared at Armel for a second, before grinning. "Oy, you grew up!" He snickered and stood up, holding out a hand to help Armel up as he did so. Well, this was wonderful news! Now they were both just the right age and size to cause just the right amount of terror, without implication and/or responsibility.
It was good to be a kid.
"When did this happen?"

Everyone knows that crashing into people is funner anyways!
Armel of course would have returned the hug if he hadn't been so dazed at seeing his friend again, but otherwise he allowed himself to be helped up and dusted himself off a bit afterwards before pausing and looking over at Adonis. He blinked once or twice staring over at his friend. Something was different. Something was...
OHYEAH!
He returned the glare, but playfully before responding, "Aye, well, so did ye!" he retorted with a grin, "What're ye doin' out here?" It was a question of quaint curiosity. He was very happy to see his friend and that was easily seen by the grin Armel was currently wearing.

Donny shrugged, flaring his wings out behind him proudly. "Yeah, just a bit." A shadow passed over them as his friend asked him why he was out here, and behind Donny the pegasi landed. "We were just out flying, as usual. Armel, this is Frey. Frey, this is my best friend, Armel."
Frey took a few steps forward and bent down to sniff at Armel carefully. A best friend, was it? Well, the boy smelled worthy enough. He wasn't even aware his pet had a best friend. It was nice to know, he supposed.
"Pleasure, Armel." Frey snorted, tapping his hoof against the ground and bowing his head slightly in greeting. Frey wasn't usually very friendly towards those around Donny, but Armel seemed different. Trustworthy, perhaps. A best friend of his pet could always be a pet in and of himself.

Armel canted his head up to see what the shadow was but was also paying attention to what Donny was saying to him. He leveled his gaze back to Donny as the pegasi landed, but he also glanced over at the winged creature with a sideways tilt to his head. First time he had seen something like that. Armel allowed himself to be sniffed and checked out calmly. Not seeming to take offense to it, and likely deciding it easier than being trampled by hooves of painful furious fury.
The ram-horned boy smiled at Frey and did his own bow. One arm was extended out to the side while the other arm crossed over his abdomen as he bowed. It was a bow he had often seen on television and found it worth making his own, "An honor t'meet ye, Frey." He countered. Armel felt as if he had suddenly passed some odd test that the pegasi had going within its mind.
He then looked over at Donny, "Were ye goin' any place in particular?" Armel was suddenly in even less of a mood to go home than he was before.

The boy had more manners than his pet, Frey thought silently to himself. He would be a good influence on the golden one's nature. He said no more as he backed away, letting the two discuss whatever frivolities tiny un-pegasi creatures idled away their time with, while he busied himself with more important thoughts. Like that slip of paper that wisped in the wind down the street. It was imperative that he follow it. Imperative.
"Nuuu, nowhere special. Just everywhere. Looking for something interesting, and we found it!" Donny patted his friend on the shoulder as he said so, declaring Armel 'something interesting'. He led the boy back down the street, falling into step with him.
"I'm actually thinking of starting a collection. I'm not entirely sure what of, but it should be things I find outside. Maybe leaves. What do you think?" He paused under a street-planted tree, reaching up and picking one of the browning leaves from the stem.

Armel grinned at being called Something Interesting. He supposed he was fairly interesting for wandering around so late in the afternoon and on into the evening. That and various other things of the like, and besides the way it was worded it was a compliment and one Armel accepted graciously though he didn't so say a word in response to it. He simply nodded a bit, "I suppose somethin' interesting found me then." The boy countered with a chuckle as he walked with Donny almost seeming to forget about Frey.
After all if Donny wasn't worried about Frey why should he? The ram-horned lad figured that winged equine was more than enough trouble to anyone that dare try to attack it.
He paused next to Adonis and watched him pluck a leaf from the tree. Armel looked thoughtful at the thought the other boy presented to him and simply nodded, "It depends on how ye plan to collect the leaf," he said, "Ye can do it by color, by shape or even by kind." Armel shrugged, "Though I guess I am more of a rock kind 'o guy. Especially gems."

Gems.. Donny's eyes lit up brightly. He dropped the leaf like so much garbage. "That's brilliant. Do you really collect gems? I want to see them.."
Armel was perhaps the only person in the entire world that Donny would never wrong. In fact, if anyone else had mentioned their gem collection, Donny would have been sure to attempt to convince the person to gift them to him. But for Armel.. a gem collection was only too deserving for his best friend.
"Perhaps I can give you a gem to add to it." Donny pondered, as his eyes dropped for a moment in thought. Yes, he could certainly do such a thing. They were his to give, after all.

He smiled at his best friend and nodded a bit, "Of course ye can see 'em. They are at home right now though. Got a couple of lovelies there," Armel didn't mind showing his friend the gems he had collected thus far. Admittedly they were mostly gifts he had received from others during holidays or some such mess. Though now that he has been getting out on his own more and more he planned to grow his collection a lot more.
Armel thoughtfully rubbed his chin almost seeming to blow off Donny's comment before he simply replied, "M'friend ye needn't give me a thing. Your friendship is the brightest gem I could ever have." It was sentimental, it was sincere, and more importantly it came from him. Though the boy hoped it didn't come off as cheesy or fake sounding. Armel ran a hand through his hair a bit as if trying to preemptively brush away embarrassment.

Though Armel's sentiment was touching, Adonis wasn't the kind of boy to favor sentiment over tangence in value. No, he merely gave Armel a wry grin, and lifted his hand as if to making a brushing gesture. "Of course it is. But perhaps I can give you something equally bright to represent it." His hand hadn't lowered, in fact it remained poised upward in a frozen half-wave. "But you musn't tell anyone. I would hate to have to deal with the jealousy others may have, especially since I am pretty certain I can't give all of myself away."
The phrase sounded odd to Donny, and made him pause on it. He tasted it in his mouth, and heard it echo in his head. Give all of himself away? Why did that sound so familiar..
So frightening..
He shook his head and eyed his wrist, watching the slow orbit of stars circle lazily around it. "I've never done this before. Let's see how it works, shall we?" He silently hoped to himself that it didn't feel like pulling hairs out, before reaching for one of the stars. His little fingers surrounded it, and plucked it right out of it's orbit.
Where before there was a perfect set of stars circling the wrist, now there lay a gap, which looked much like a missing tooth. Donny didn't like how asymmetrical it looked, but there was nothing to be done about it now. At least it didn't hurt!
He flipped the star in his hand, before holding it up between his finger and thumb. It was thicker than it seemed before, but just as shiny; a bright golden star.
After thoroughly enjoying it's beauty for himself, Donny finally looked back at his friend, grinned, and held it out to him. "Here!"

Armel could just stare as his friend went about removing one of the stars from the chain that had circled about Adonis' wrist. The gesture was probably one of the greatest things the ram-horned boy could ever witness and ever hope to be part of.
Simply put it was like a sacrifice. After all Adonis would look a little odd with one star short on one side, and thus it made the gesture all the more meaningful. Obviously Donny would have known and thought about all that before doing so, right?
Armel hesitated a moment before reaching out a hand to accept the star from Adonis. He was awestruck and more honored than he could even describe. A gift like this deserved something of like in return as soon as he could think of what and how, "Donny, are ye sure? I'm very honored for this," his voice was soft and mirrored a bit of his concern considering that these stars seemed very much a part of Adonis.

"Am I sure? Of course I'm sure; I've already done it. I could no more put it back than you could put that leaf back upon the branch it fell from. Don't question me, I'm always right."
He said all this with a soft, quirky smile, before putting one arm around his friend's shoulder and leading him back down the street.
"Say.. do you think your family would mind if I stayed over at your place today? After all, then I could see your gems." Yes, he had just invited himself over to Armel's house. Quite impudent of him if you ask me, which you didn't. He had his reasons, though. Anywhere that wasn't home sounded good to him.

Armel chuckled as he gently pocketed the precious gift. He'd remember to take it out upon getting back home of course. It'd rude to just let it gather pocket lint not to mention insulting, "I'll never question ye again," The boy intoned sagely with a small nod and a grin of his own. It was almost like a promise and in all likelihood it was.
He placed his own arm about his friend's shoulder pretty much seeming to lock them together shoulder to shoulder as they walked. Armel easily kept stride with his friend.
Adonis' question broke the silence they had momentarily slipped into and he glanced over at his friend with his golden eyes for a moment or two as if considering it but not really hesitating before responding, "If not well, yer stayin' over anyways," he replied cheerfully, "not like I often 'ave friends over anyhow." He grinned.
