Making your own thread!
The very purpose of this forum is to show yourself off with the pretty art that you have put online! Here are steps for beginners on making their own threads and maintaining them.
smile This is mostly optional to read but it can give you ideas on how to creat efficiant gallery threads.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Making your own Art thread - Part 1Before starting your thread, it's a good idea to already have a few images of yours online. For that there are a few host sites that can easily do the job.
smile Photobucket: What photobucket is is a storage system site that lets you upload images directly from your computer. You have to make an account on photobucket before being able to use it though. It's not very difficult and it provides you with URLs that you can use to post.
Bella hosts BOWBS pages and pictures from photobucket and finds it's pretty convenient.
site URL: www.photobucket.com
ImageShack: I've personally never used image shack but I assume it works in the same way as photobucket. You'll also have to sign up to make your own account.
Site URL: www.ImageShack.com
Deviant Art: That site is a gallery all on its own. This is another place you need to sign up for to have. You can't directly link images or post them on the threads directly but you can link your account and invite others to see. That place is actually well organized and very popular so you can have more then just the guild members comment on it.
smile It's definately worth a look.
Making your own Art thread - Part 2Once you have your images ready then it's time to make your thread!
xd So that people will know it's yours, desperate names like:
COME SEE! MY ART ROCKS! is a bit unnessasary. After all, we're in a guild, there is alot less competition for attention since we're not open to all of Gaia.
Something simple like:
Bubbleh's Gallery will work well too. ^_^
A good way to start out your thread is to reserve your first page to tell everyone how your making your gallerie. If your'e putting up your Deviant Art then ask for comments on the selected art or on the art in general and let the descussion fly!
If you're posting art directly off photobucket, then using your first post to describe the art you have up and what page they're on will also help guide others to your art. Number the amount of pictures you have up in a list so others can find them without a problem. Organization is the key to a good thread.
smile Again, these are suggestions, make your thread how you want, make it simple or pretty or flashy! What ever suits your fancy, just remember that this is *your* space, so make it suit you.
biggrin Another important thing is that archive or gallery threads have a
60 days lifespan on
inactivity so try to update before those 60 days are up.
